Members, I light of the disaster that was the Portland Road Runners ride this weekend, and something that xbswede and I have talked about. How does everyone feel about using some club money to buy a set of communicators that could be used for the lead and sweep guys. Just a thought, but the chatterbox units are $150 each and there is a "student headset" $35 that can be easily removed from a helmet and placed in another. Check em out here and let me know what you think Com unit http://www.chatterboxusa.com/cbfrsfkit.html Student headset http://www.chatterboxusa.com/cbrsrhs.html Perhaps this would be something to discuss a the next meeting? |

what was the Road Runner disaster? Do tell! I'm up for a discussion on buying a set of communicatirs, I see a real opertunity to have the ride leader and sweep rider able to communicate. We'd need a set with good range, and we'd have challenges with large groups that split into multiple groups. If we bought a set would multiple people be able to talk or are we limited? I'll do my own homework but just some thugs to think about. |

Thepod and I have talked a few times about doing something like this now and I do agree it would be great. I seem to have encountered more situations as of late where it would be very beneficial to be able to be able to keep track of the group without the front rider having to constantly wonder whats going on. I have been on a couple rides where riders have been left behind because the leader did not pay attention or give enough thought about keeping the groups together at each stop point (putting it nicely) |

There are two chatterbox units. The one listed is as $150 it has a 2 mile range. This one is $350 but has a 5 mile range http://www.chatterboxusa.com/cbx1fkit.html We can discuss. To me, an extra $200 is not worth the range, but I am open to persuasion |

How about those Cardo units you are using? Is it possible to pair multiple units into one channel? |

Not with the Cardo Q2 multiset. It works great for two people, but the range is only 1000 feet. There is a new g4 set coming out, but it is currently not available and only has a range of a mile. |
