Captlusk, where you at in PNW? I'm in Rathdrum ID just across from Spokane WA, I may be out this weekend, if my rear tire isn't begging for mercy yet.

No more bikes on the operating table! Buell now running Thunderstorm heads and S1 cams. Still doing break-in miles but I've already found that at part throttle in first gear it has a tendency to spin up the rear tire.
Jaci and I are riding the Buell to Colorado next Staurday for the S2 Round-up. Initial plan was to trailer it to San Fran and ride from there. A closer look at Mapquest reveals that the plan would have shortened our motorcycle seat time by 400 miles round-trip but given us 1800 miles in the car. New plan is to ride all the way. Trailers are for horses!
We're leaving early Sunday for Grand Forks, BC, probably overnighting there, then south from there. Should get us the Iron Butt trophy. (Ive already got my sights set on the Most Original trophy and the earliest build date.)
I need at least one trophy to make up for the fact that I got shut out at the Trev Dealey show-and-shine. Probably because I entered the Sportster in the Sportbike category rather than the Sportster class.
And the Sportster, now broken in, will get the front wheel off the pavement shifting into third.
So Sportyeric's a happy guy.
And if Jimmy or anyone else would care to join us for part of the ride, that would be cool. If not, we'll see you all at SPLASH.
Good to see Don and Lo and Brandon and Tracy are all back in the pack.

Congratulations Eric.

That’s quite the accomplishment.
Two full rebuilds and a drive shaft overhaul in one season and all.
The only dilemma facing you now is deciding what bike to take for a spin.

Life is tough eh!

Cheers

Right-O ERic. Sounds like a good Splash this year!
Jimmy, I got the intake re-fiddeled, and she spins up much quicker now(again). Crazy how such a small adjustment can make such a difference. Viva la difference'.

Having a garage sale this week-end. If anyone would like to ride out on the peninsula, stop by and check out the new place, see if there is anything you just have to have, and have a beer.

1997 Rude Rd Poulsbo WA Look for the garage sale signs.

Thanks for the kind words Bob.
Yes that's Lakeview Oregon. We had a blast riding east of town.
No Sticky isnt bothered by the noise. I removed his eardrums when he was a pup. He reads lips real good now.

Looks like SPLASH is a no-go for me this year. I got stuck with the task of guiding some folks to the top of that ugly lump of a hill just south of Tacoma. My least favorite climb in all of the Cascades....
You guys have loads of fun and be careful out there!
Cheers!

Ron, there is a trail from Paradise to the Summit. They can't get lost... just follow the crowds...
While on the other-hand, you could be re-living the thrills you, Jimmy and I had on our trip home from Cali.
... let's see now, dirty snow & a big hill, or clean roads & lots of hills.-hmmm-

So this is my last week of graveyard... blah. I haven't seen Bob or anyone for weeks!(Galen sings the Blues) Hopefully I'll be comming back to day-life soon. I want to do a tightening ritual-blessing on Old Shakey befor SPLASH.

No time to read all the latest. On the puter at Jaci's aunt's in San Francisco. The trip to Colorado was a success. Bike running well except a failed (new) isolator that FMJ graciously sorted for us. Had nice visit there. We thought we'd be in Tacoma Saturday night for a visit with Bob and Deb but its farther than we thought and we're unlikely to make it past Portland, I'm thinking now. We'll call B&D tomorrow night with a progress report.
And see you all soon for SPLASH.

To any one that's interested, Marcus and I are going for a ride up to Port Angeles and beyond tomorrow. We will probably leave Poulsbo around noon. If you want to come with, email me. I'll send you directions as to where we will meet. Have not figured that part out yet. I'll check this board again tonight.
Cheers

Glad to hear that you two are doing well and on your way home. How many S2's made the trip?

Did you pick up me axles from Fireman Jim?

Been a while since I've posted, not much riding for me because of an injury...Trying to get back in the saddle a bit, slow process.

Anyway, today, my S3 broke an exhaust header stud on the front cylinder while I was out for a test ride after I changed the fluid's. Is there any one that might be able to help maybe? Limited use of left hand (injury I mentioned above).

Dealership is out of the question or else I would go that route. Income level is minimal!

If any one can lend a hand, I'd supply the beverage's of choice, food and my one good hand!

Jim

Hey Jim,

Good to hear from you. Bummer about the header stud, this is kind of a delicate repair, I might try to remove it on my own bike but not on yours. Shotgun had the same situation a few years back, the good folks at Paradise Buell and HD were able to take care of it.
You going to make it to SPLASH? If you can't ride come on by for the party, it'd be great to see you.

Chris

Hey Chris,

I had the thought in my mind today, the S3 was running good until the stud went.

So now, not too sure. Still bummed and scratching my head on what to do. Makes me nervous, if you might try on yours tells me not to try on mine!

Thought about a can of lighter fluid and a match, wouldn't help, would still have a broken stud and a lump of melted plastic and metal...

I called Paradise this afternoon. Roc wasn't in to speak with, will give a call tomorrow and see if there might be any hope.

I'm up in Sandy, OR now. Kind of out of the way of everything. Nice roads to ride on though. Have my own personal road course right out my front door. : )

Jim, just did this repair a couple months ago. Of course it's harder on the front cylinder. It is a spooky job drilling it out your self... easy to break a drill or the easy-out. I pulled my head and had a local bike shop do the extraction and re-thread. $125.00. A Harley shop will cost around $23489765432454.00 for them do do the whole job. (like if you just bring the bike in to them) Would also be hard with a sore wing... sorry dude.

$125 is a lot better then $23489765432454.00!

No need to be sorry though, stuff happens sometimes that's out of our control. Not meant to be in the saddle yet I guess.

Not too sure what to do yet, couple of option's.....We'll see.

Eric, I hear from Bob that you had a mystical experience recently. I think this can only be attributed to the intervention of the Creator of the Universe, The Flying Spaghetti Monster. Who, or What other explanation is possible? One lone Noodle reached down and neutralized the fiendish Peanut Essence that was trying to enter your body. And that is just one example of the Beneficence of the Protector of our Universe. All Hail!

Jim, BordeRaid is also approaching. 9/4,5,6,7 ! FunJimmy and I found some new roads there last month. It's an incredable ride out to the Farquire ferry, and that's where Jimmy and I went out onto new, hither-to unexplored territory. This ferry puts you on an Island that has been seperated from the rest of the continent for millenia, allowing the wildlife there to evolve on their own unique paths. On every telephone pole is a pteradactyl nest, the little flapping monsters all squalling for more meat.
All the creatures were seemingly from different epochs, but now were all living together in a confusing-time-jumble. The animales we thought must be related to Bears were interesting. About the size of an adult Moose, they seemed to be designed to bring down the local Mastodons which roamed the countryside, and sometimes the roads. Their dung, when we were riding at 'speed', presented quite a road-hazard!
There were other unusual sights, but I'll let you all discover them for yourselves.
So make your plans today for a ride through time itself.

Chris, I actually didn't have that extraction done at Paradise, but at that little private shop on I-5 that the former Buell mechanic started. Forgot the name, but Hooligan used to use him too.

I AM MOTH-BALLING BETTIE
No more of this for me!!!!!!!!!! I'm gona seal it up in craptinite. Gona make it into a cement-mixer. Possibly a High tork still of some kind. Sacrifice to FSM for the deliverence of Sporty Eric! Or a PT boat... I'm taking suggestions....
So I will be on a new hunk of iron when next you see me. Doubtlessly something Japa-knees. With spray-paint. Or felt-pens. Wall-paper. Perhaps fur of somekind.

p.s. Ron, It's not Bob Hope's birthday, silly...
