I found out what happened on the Blast ad. Apparently the KB only had one line for Buell and no models under that.
I gave the lister a few references so they can price it properly and be able to sell it.
The owner was in a car accident that has ended his days of being able to ride a motorcycle.

Kristi,
Congratulations! Fun times ahead for you! I hope I can make it to Mountain grass coming up. Jim needs new tires and replacement parts from the wreck before then.

Renee - bikes can always be fixed...people not so easily! If we don't see you for July mountain grass, maybe we'll see you in August or Sept.

JN - as for your last request to me, I think you'll need to forward that request to Blake. I'm not sure how to do it and I think it's beyond my allowances as custodian!

No, I have been holding out. We had a little mishap a few Sundays ago. Messed up my good riding record, the bike some, and us some. The record will take the longest to heal.

The "wreck" is related to that craigs list post in Raleigh. The Blast with the firebolt fairing.
The owner is selling because injuries in a car accident left him unable to ride. No other details. I did not want to pry.

I know one guy that lost his right leg below the knee in a mc crash. As soon as he was fitted for an athletic prosthesis, he was back on his Harley. The dude was just a little scary though. He had the German SS lightning bolt tattoo on his neck.

Going back a few posts, I just want to chime in and say CONGRATS Kristi. Way to go and I'm glad you had a good instructor. Mine had a bit of a...Napoleon complex (short guy, control freak) . He yelled at us a lot, plus he had a mouth for ethnic/sexist jokes. One guy even quit the class. I suppose he just wanted to impress on us the importance of paying attention. That was 2 1/2 years ago. I still don't ride, nothing to practice on, but I had a blast learning. I know you'll be careful, and I know also that you know not everyone else is.

I've been on her non stop since Saturday!! Only really surprising problem is how hot the, uhm, er, nether region gets compared to the Lightning! With the wide bars and short wheel base this handles really well, but I still find myself shifting @ around 5500 RPM's. Not a problem, she cruises in 6th gear at 30 mph without missing a lick! I love it

Kristi and I just finished another ride. It is great to have backroads around us to practice. She takes her time and is doing very good for just the second time out of the road. You can tell she is really loving riding her own.

Jim, Maybe this weekend I can come out and see the new ride. I have the weekend to myself and one of the three days I am going riding. What's your weekend hold?

M2, your wife should call my wife and tell her to start riding.
I told here once I had this vision of us arriving at family events on 4 motorcycles like our own little gang, when the kids are old enough to have their own.

What's your weekend hold?

You can tell we've been married forever...I already called Jim on my way to work and told him you were single for a week and needed to get out and ride. The house is open, pool is nice and cool, beer is in the fridge! Come on up Jim and whoever else is up for a ride this weekend.

Post here, don't count on Carlos answering the house phone or even checking his cell phone!

Awesome bike Jim. That thing looks wicked.

I have to take the Triumph for it's first service on Saturday. But will be up for some riding after that.

J, look closely. It is a 4 banger. The 4th pipe raps around from the other side.

Mr. Big, Is that a custom fly screen? Bet it would go over big at a Wolf Pack game.

The Z1K was my only alternative considered. I'm too old and fat to lean over a gas tank. But not ready for a cruiser either.

Enjoy the ride. But take off the Kaw label and slap a BUELL on it.

LOL Yea its a 4 cylinder. The Irony of the whole thing is back in 2003 I was at the Kawi dealer looking at the 03 Orange Z1000. I drooled over it for almost a week. Then coming back from a UNC appointment we stopped at Cox's HD/Buell and seen the Lightning. I said that is what I want and the next day we signed the papers. So I've been looking at this one for the last 5 months! And finally pulled the trigger. Thanks for the compliments.
I think the C-3 group needs to get together another good ride, its been a good while since we have all ridden together and just plain hung out for a good while.

U4, you still have to change the tag on the tank. (ha ha) Same for Spectrum Analyzer and that limey bike. (read with a heavy note of sarcasm.)

BTW, Back in 1983 I almost upgraded from my little Kaw 440 LTD to the KZ1100. But I was too close to finishing my hitch in the Air Force and was heading back Massachusetts. Back then the AF Credit Union forced full pay off if one moved out of state.

Jim, after talking with you I went and tried to crank the Prelude again. Third try was a charm. It stayed running this time, after sitting for a year. Whatever was gummed up, must have worked its way free. Poured some more gas with seafoam in it, washed it and took it out for a illegal ride. Still tight as a tick and ran great. Everything, including the air, still works. Damn, that was fun. I think I'll get a plate and put it back on the road again.

Fish, that shot was taken at Gixxer's corner during the first Buelltoberfest. Courtesy of Sanchez, a 3%er. Damned good photographer. Believe me, I was just cruising, cause a couple days before I almost dumped it in that general area. Go ahead and put the SS on your X-mas list. Best pipe out there, but I'm biased. I suggest a ride up to Hickory and check out Kevin's shop. I have no regrets. Any chance you might be on vacation next week? I'm planning on taking a ride down to the Southern Pines area to check out U4's new bike and ride with him either Monday or Tuesday.

Twig, No vaca next week. Too much to do at work.
Next vaca is camping with the family. Bike is staying home for that one.

That picture should be on KD's Customer bikes page.

I told my wife that if she wants the SS under the X-Mas tree she has to order it in July.
I'm also considering adding the Lightning Long sport (Gel) seat to the list too. Not the touring because it lowers an inch. If I was 5'7" i could.

Have a fun ride.
