Put a sidecar on the XB and bring him along! You guys would have a trip you'd be talking about for years. For that matter, we'd ALL be talking about it for years. |

What do you mean by an abstract? do I have to bring a painting with me? or can I do one there? My style is more L S Lowry than Paul Klee but I'm sure I'll be able to get a likeness if you hold still long enough. |

Boys, I bet your glad your not coming this time of year!! Ferry Sutck in Ice off Newfoundland Second ferry reaches port after icy ordeal Last Updated Sun, 29 Feb 2004 16:28:07 HALIFAX - The ferry service between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland resumed with one formerly icebound ship Sunday while the second reached port in North Sydney, N.S., after being stuck for four days. The 88 passengers on the Joseph and Clara Smallwood landed Sunday after two icebreakers cleared a path to harbour from where the ship was stuck about eight kilometres offshore. The second ferry that serves the route left North Sydney on Sunday morning, bound for Port aux Basques, Nfld. With hundreds of passengers and vehicles waiting at both ends of the link, the Marine Atlantic Caribou will operate on a load-and-go basis, instead of regular scheduled service, in order to clear the backlog. It's expected to reach Newfoundland about 7 p.m. The trip normally takes six hours. More than 185 passengers stranded on the Caribou finally made it to shore Saturday night. FROM FEB. 28, 2004: 1 of 2 stuck ferries breaks free of ice The Canadian Coast Guard has been helping with icebreaking. Marine Atlantic said it was confident the Coast Guard could keep a path open for the Caribou. The ship left Newfoundland Wednesday night and became trapped in ice early Thursday. The Smallwood attempted the same trip a day later but also got stuck. The huge ferries – 179 metres/590 feet long, with a capacity of 1,200 passengers – have beds, playrooms and satellite TV, and carry a week's worth of supplies. Marine Atlantic, which operates the service, has a contingency plan to use a helicopter to evacuate anyone who gets sick, a spokesperson said. edited by Newfie_Buell on February 29, 2004 |
