Hey is that ride still planned today? I'm sitting here in Phoenix, watching the news and see tons of snow in the Denver area.
Man, it's just too close to summer to have THAT much snow falling out of the sky!!!
I hope you guys do get some ride time in. I'll be thinking of ya while I'm out enjoying the mountain roads north east of here.

THE RIDE IS ON. LEAVES 9AM SUNDAY : )
Today the sun is out and it's warm. Roads are DRY in Denver as of yesterday afternoon. Me and Scott W. are gonna go scout the route here in about 2 hours. I spoke to a guy in BlackHawk, CO yesterday. He is at 8,500 feet and the roads were just wet. Hell, I could have rode the Buell to work yesterday, but I was scared off by threats of 10" of snow in Denver. The prediction was "highly inaccurate."

We had much less snow to the north and east. If the roads to the south at elevation are crap, we'll plan an alternate, not so snowy ride, tomorrow during breakfast.

Great! Glad to see some folks ain't scairt of a little weather. You guys up there in CO rock!
I'll be meeting some of you this summer when I come up for some of my "extended" weekend rides. Wish I had met more of you when I came up for the Thunder in the mountains runs a few years back.
You guys are blessed with some of the greatest roads I have ever ridden on.
Have a great ride, and be safe!!!

SCOUTING REPORT:
Hwy 285 is dry, with a few spots of water on the road from melting snow.
Hwy 67 is near perfect. Some sand by Buffalo Creek, some sand on both sides of the hill leading to the fire station.

Some small rocks on the road 15-20 miles north of Woodland Park. We rolled the big ones off the highway, but we need to keep our eyes open.

Are you going to the Buell Rally in Taos, thrown by Chick's HD? We will have a contingent of riders there. Hope to see you around this summer.

Is that rally in September? I think I will be making it. I know I have a few road trips planned to Santa Fe already, this summer.

BISHOP'S CASTLE RIDE POSTPONED!

Snow at elevation and our destination. The weather forecasters around here are really good about predicting snowfall only when it is actually happening! We still had about 12 people show up in the rain for breakfast!

Weather permitting it's on for May 2nd. : )

Time to blow the dust off this thread! The fact is a lot of our members are not computer owners, and the ones that are only get online twice a month or so! Our next official club ride will be to the Southwest Regional Rally in Taos, NM.

In other news, club patches are here in will be available for purchase at the next club meeting, August 3rd, 7:30pm at Dewey's Grill (Broadway and C-470).

...as far as a website update, I'll lean on the powers that be at the next meeting to get it updated. I know we have a crapload of pictures from the 2004 Battletrax. In all fairness, the Battletrax site hasn't been updated in OVER A YEAR!

I think everyone has been out riding! : )

The Thunderbolts, Erik's band, is playing at Thunder Mountain H-D this Saturday from 12 to 2PM! In case anyone in that area wanted to know and go hear the band or talk to Erik. Other bands there and other entertainment. Thunder Mountain is a chopper store, but heck, it's motorcycles!

HELLO ALL! My deepest and most sincere apologies for having been absent from the BadWeb for so long. Additional responsibilities at the dealership have been eating up a large chunk of my time. I promise to be more timely and active with my posts. Just today I posted the info for the "Ridin' the Rockies" regional B.R.A.G. rally to be held right here in our back yard in August. I have been working very closely with Peggy Upthall and Mary Baszynski from National B.R.A.G. to get events planned. Please contact me at Rocky Mountain H-D/Buell for more info @ (303) 703-2885. Thanks!

Gunnison EMS Rescue Ride

Greetings Fellow Riders!

The Gunnison Valley Hospital EMS (EMT-Paramedic) Division has put together a benefit motorcycle ride to benefit our Education Fund on September 24, 2005.

The GVH-EMS service area encompasses over 4000 square miles of Gunnison, Montrose and Saguache Counties. Some of the most beautiful roads in the state traverse our service area. Unfortunately we end up caring for too many riders who crash on these roads. We cover this area with one on-duty ambulance and one ambulance on call. Response and transport times can take up to 90 minutes each way in the farthest reaches of our service area.

Like most public safety agencies, our budget is stretched as tight as the "E" string on a mandolin. Because of this, we don't have a budget for continuing medical education which is imperative to provide the best and most up to date care for our patients. In an effort to change this we have put this benefit motorcycle ride together to help defray education costs.

We would like to invite you and your friends to come ride with us at the 1st Annual Gunnison Valley Hospital - EMS "Rescue Ride". The first 75 registrants will receive a special gift.

Registration will be at 7:30 AM at the Community Bank of Colorado - Gunnison Branch 1100 North Main (Hwy 135 just North of Wal-Mart) with coffee and baked goods provided. Make sure your gas tank is full!

The Ride begins in Gunnison and heads west on US 50 Hwy through the beautiful Curecanti National Recreation Area to Route 92 which follows the North Rim of the Black Canyon. We'll follow SR 92 through Crawford State Park to Hotchkiss and then head North on Route 133 over McClure Pass to Carbondale and then into Aspen via SR 82. We'll have lunch, raffles (including a 50/50), and camaraderie. From Aspen we head East over Independence Pass, past Twin Lakes Reservoir and pick up US 24 HWY just East of Baltown. We'll ride West on 24 HWY (actually South) to Buena Vista and grab US 285 HWY South to Poncha Springs and West on US 50 Highway over beautiful Monarch Pass to Gunnison.

Discounted hotel rates in Gunnison have been arranged for those who may travel to Gunnison from a distance. Make sure you tell them you are part of the GVH-EMS Rescue Ride to get your discount.
Gunnison Inn/Lodging Company 970-641-0700; Western Motel 970-641-1722; Gunnison Super 8 Motel 970-641-3068.

For those staying overnight after the Ride, there will be a get-together with beverages and music provided to celebrate our accomplishment.

More information may be found at www.gvh-colorado.org at the bottom of the page.

I thank you for your time and wish you well. If you have any questions, you may contact me (Lars) at EMS: 970-641-7276
or via email: "mailto:lars243@adelphia.net?subject=2005-Rescue-Ride"

Keep your wheels on the road and we look forward to seeing you. The folliage is going to be spectacular!

Lars, NREMT-P, EMT-T
