I have a problem. Went to the barbers today on the bike started up fine rode down to the place,I say roughly 10 mi from my house got there 15-20 minutes later I fired it up let the clutch out stalled did it again stalled fired it up a third time let idle for 2 minutes engine light was on let the clutch out it was going to stall so I give more throttle than usual that kept it running BUT! it seemed like it wanted to stall again, so I got it home I checked the battery it has 12.8v thats all I can check on it no other tools for proper diagnosis I was wonder if any of you guy's has a scan tool I'll take the bike to your house so you can scan it....What do you think.

Plenty of us have ecmspy and there are a couple of volt checks on that...but really no more than what the ecm thinks it see's...

I just had some electrical problems last week...turned out to be stupid...negative bolt was coming loose...damn thing welded itself to the wire terminal...

Felix, the kick stand switch and the switch located beneath the clutch handle are part of the "Starter Interlock System".<<<Protection from riding away with the kickstand down OR starting the bike in gear without pulling in the clutch lever. You can test the switches with a multi-meter.They're only like $3-$5 each.I've replaced two broken clutch lever switches so far on my X1.The other part that causes this is the "Diodes" related to this same circuit.Look for them on your fuse panel. They're DIRECTIONAL and have arrows on them. They can corrode, they're like a $1 each. You have two,pay attention to their arrows.

Do these things and tell how it runs.

Right now,it'll rev fine in neutral. As soon as you let out the clutch it went dead..Right?

The good: got through that arc just fine. And for free! Nothing earth shattering was presented or learned, but you can never go wrong with a lesson or two.

The bad: I now have a smallish oil leak coming from my aft head. Really bummed.

Any advice on upgrading gaskets or rebuilding my top ends welcomed. (no I'm not going to ride it till it grenades, but I will ride it a bit more to find out just how bad it is)

Go with Cometic gaskets. They are the best. But that is just my opinion.

If that head is only leaking at the bolt don't sweat it. Almost all of them do it.

If it is leaking between the gasket....yup they need to be replaced.

And yes......The Cometic gaskets are the way to go.

Funny...My bike blows up and it has not stopped raining since...LOL

Maybe I will find one this week and the skies will clear once again....

Chippy, my idiot neighbor was at that class...Had the greyish honda that looked like it was tossed on the ground a few times...yea it was.....kid is going to kill himself on it..Squid

It was run by a guy, degsy, who knew of ya too. I mentioned, after his sales pitch, that you were doing a bunch of Boston moto days. Good instructor, that guy.

It's hard to tell exactly where it was coming from, I noticed a little splatter on my pulley cover, and from the left side looking up the whole fin under where the exhaust comes out was covered in oil. But it isn't coming out with a vengeance yet.

Grey Honda.....what was the kids name? Most of the people in the class really rode the excercises like they were afraid. Having a bike with a 4 inch wheel base is an unfair advantage though.

Ahhh..Yup Degsy is a cool MoFo....And a GREAT sales man.

Got me to buy 3 T-Days in one conversation...That Bastage!

If it is leaking enough to spray that far and much it is only a matter of time before That gasket lets go. You could "Possibly" get lucky and Re-Torque the head bolts. may buy you a little bit more time, but sounds like you need a new set of Gaskets to me.

Why is it always the Rear that gets oiled up?

Wait...What?!
