AHH thats the ultimate enduromachine. I have a CRF450R. I mostly woods ride and my bike is not plated. There is a motorcross track near me that I ride sometimes but I'm too old for broken bones after flying thru the air trying to keep up with those 18YR olds.
Anyways since my XB is down for a bit for muffler upgrade, Havent riden the thumper in awile this would be a good time. I am NH registered (OHRV)so I have to stick to state park stuff. Clough/ Everett riding area in NH good technical and easy stuff.

NO your just out of touch! You cant dump the clutch with your weight backwards. Unless your Travis Pastrana doing a crazy backflip off a 4 foot mound of dirt!

There is a group of us from this area that go to Pennsylvania twice a year , and do about 250 miles in a weekend, on the dirtbikes in woods only. Pennsylvania is awesome for that stuff. Last year braught the xb also it was awesome for that too lots of mountain road twisty's!

thanks for the invite Mark, but the wifes at work so i have my 3 girls all to myself.

One of my best friends lives about 1/4 mile away from the ohrv entrance of clough, so ive done a lot of riding out there over the years.

today all my friends are parking at my house and riding from here, lots of trails that head to Crotched Mtn, and pats peek right off my property, one of the main reasons i bought my house was for the dirtbike trails.....then i sold my dirtbike!

Thats bad timing! u need another one! Ive been to that riding area I think, is that were the "HEDGEHOG" hill is? If so it was fun, then the following year I went there again and they logged it, couldnt find any of the trails or hedgehog hill. Got lost then got stuck, then got pissed from picking bike up so much trying to get over wet logged slippery branches everywhere.

I wouldnt have mine either if MHD would have offered a good price when I bought my XB. They were only going to give me 1500 for it.I have more than half of that in just extras. Being a 2004 i decided to keep it and just run it into the ground literally.

I know its shocking to you all but i'm sighning off now so i can go ride

I gave up my KX-250 for a mountainbike.Slower, and less chance of concussion/broken bonz.

The airshow was cool. The B1 Lancer is the most appealing.F-22 too.

Got a new helmet and some parts on the way home:

Nice brain bucket. I've been eyeballing the x-11 and fr-1000. I'm really dig'n the new Bell Star helmets. I've read a lot of good reviews about it. I just really want to try one on before I order/buy one.

Since it looks like some people here have recently bought or are looking to buy a helmet. What is everyones favorites and why?

Here are my current helmets.
Shark RSX Eagle: Very light weight, awesome venting, 3mm thick shield, quiet. Fits my oval shaped head good. Needs to be replaced because I crashed in this helmet last year.

Scorpion EXO-400: A little heavy, ok venting, optically clear visors, quiet. Doesn't fit my head so great. Has a pressure point on my forehead.

Here are the current helmets i'm looking at as a replacement for my Shark.
Shoei: X-11 or RF-1000
Bell: Star
Shark : RSX (discontinued)
Icon: Domain 2

Nolan Modular. Good venting, especially when you flip it all the way open. This is my second. The first one had to go when I learned the effect of a kickstand in hot asphalt. I can tell you that the helmet will support all 360 lbs of a KLR 650, but the faceshield tends to get a little scratched.

Motorcycle Helmet Weights

Motorcycle Helmet Weight Comparisons

More: The wBW Motorcycle Helmet FAQ page

While light weight is always a plus, it isn't necessarily the only factor to consider. The helmet's center of gravity will affect how the weight is carried, which can make a lighter weight helmet feel heavy and vice versa.

The fit of the helmet is paramount, because a proper fit will distribute the weight more evenly around the head and down through the shoulders.

Also, helmet aerodynamics are important, because a proper design will help prevent helmet lift and buffeting (which can also be exacerbated by the helmet's perceived or real weight).

When comparing helmet mass, it's important to know the size of the helmet shell used by the manufacturer. Helmet weights may vary, depending upon size. Full-face helmets range from approximately 1400 to 1800 grams.

Once helmet weight reaches about 1650 grams, it becomes harder to mask its weight. Flip-up, or "modular", helmets typically weigh more than a comparable sized full-face helmet, due to the mechanism used to flip up the visor.

Helmet manufacturers claim that Snell certification can add 50 to 100 grams or more weight to a helmet, due to the differences in the composition of the shell in order to meet Snell requirements, but modern fiber technologies may have reduced this amount -- if they're used. Also, Snell has announced an update to their standard, which may reduce this spread even further.

For the purchaser, this means that it's also important to know which helmet safety standard the helmet meets when comparing weights.

Here is a comparison chart that shows the weights of some of the helmets that we've reviewed. The helmets are listed by size. Remember, helmets should not be judged on weight alone - several other factors should be taken into consideration when choosing a helmet.

Notes:
* *The AGV Ti-Tech XXL size is equivalent to a size large in other helmets, in our opinion.
a. The Vemar VSREV has a different internal shape than any other helmet; we're calling it the "Round Oval"; see the review for more details.
b. Original EXO-700 was classified as "Round". A recent example, the 2009 EXO-700 Neon, feels Neutral to Long Oval.

Actual recorded weights using Polder electronic scale, claimed accurate to 1 g or 0.125 oz. Red numbers serve as reference to intervals of 10 in chart below.
