Doughnut your right as far as height but the standard is about 185lbs but common to see 225lbs and known to see 300lbs.Nothing stronger.YEAH BABY!!!! |

Bads1, I have seen E. Mastiffs big as 340. I am a big animal nut, the standard is not always the most pretty. |

Doughnut if you have seen a Mastiff over 340 that means someone lied to you or you seen the world record because the current is 315lbs.I'm a Mastiff freak and owner.And soon to be stud service.Most Mastiffs that are in the show ring are between 175-190 lbs.Anymore and they start to look fat and out of shape.Mine is about 185lbs.now and 2 years old.Where is your wife a groomer??? |

The name of the dog was Zorba, and yes, she was "big". She was very over wieght. Darcey is at Havahart. |

Zorba was 315 and was the 1989 record holder and is dead now for many years.You didn't see that dog because its not even from this country.Full name Zorba de la Susa. I could show you a local dog here that is 278 though. |

I must have been wrong then. Thanks for the correct info. My info came from a late 80's dog show at WI state fair. Never saw a weigh in, only what owner told me. I will assume that this was not the real owner of Zorba either. I am such a patsy. on a different note, standard Poodle took non-sporting breed. I will now stop posting non-newfie info. on this thread. |

A good friend has a Mastiff.
Damn thing is a friggin horse!
He backs up to the couch and sits leafing his front paws on the floor. His head comes up to your chest!
He's a very gentle oaf. A big pussycat of a dog.
Scares folks due to his size until he whines to be pet.
His "bark" is very amusing. Not at all what you would expect from a dog that big. It's a high pitched almost "yeep" instead of the expected deep throaty "woof"
Man, can that dog go through the food.....and resulting umm, "presents" in the back yard....

Brad I have a 12 year old son that gets payed good money.The dog you just explained sounds alot like my Goliath but mine has a deep bark.Goliath though I know would protect the house and family if he sensed a problem. |

What is a Dog?
1. Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house.
2. They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't hear you when you're in the same room.
3. They can look dumb and lovable all at the same time.
4. They growl when they are not happy.
5. When you want to play, they want to play.
6. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
7. They leave their toys everywhere.
8. They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a kiss.
CONCLUSION: They're tiny men in little fur coats

I heard that if sea monkeys escape they will get into your body like the Alien Movies.
For that reason Sea Monkeys are not allowed into my home.
