Have you added the oil cover or the kickstand plate from there? I am thinking about starting with those ad ons and was wondering your opinion about them if you have them.

Dan, I'm on my forth Buell the Uly, and I can't get away from them! So have you heard of TouraTech? You can accessorise the heck out of your Uly. The last piece I'm putting on mine is the GPS hard wired to the bike. I looked at the PIAA lights but I'm afraid of blowing the bike's charging system. K

Hey there - Yep, my first one. My previous bikes have all been sportsbikes, and I am really enjoying the feel and torque of the V-Twin. I am really impressed on how the Ulysses takes corners and handles...all in all a fun bike and great commuter.

Just bought a new Ulysses XT - any regular organized or unorganized Buell rides happening in the MD/DC area? All my past riding buddies' wives made them sell their bikes...

I'll probably be heading out from Sterling area around 10-10:30 - Gonna let it get a tad warmer before I make the ride.

Anyone that's up there.. Coolness! Those that don't make it out today, well.. I know what it's like to have a great day to ride and not be able to take advantage of it.

There you go.. You know of it... Beach mill (actually Seneca to Beach Mill to River bend to 193 and back is the 'Baby')-

Bluxb's corner is at the junction of River Bend and Beach Mill (coming from 193) it's a sharp left that had the beach in the middle of it..

Ok, so you can all scout it on your own.. here it is..

'The Circuit
Starts at Seneca and runs down to Beach Mill,
then instead of staying on Beach Mill you take Springvale (the roller coaster) to Rt. 7.
Cross 7,
Hit Hunter Mill,
then Cowell/Browns Mill to Buellah.. Follow that into Tysons, it'll change to Old Courthouse.
Left on Gosnell
Left on International,
Right onto Lewinsville (at the school).
Left onto Balls Hill.
Balls Hill to 193.
Turn left onto 193 and follow it all the way to River Bend Rd.
Right onto River Bend then stay on Beach Mill all the way to Seneca and you have made 'The Circuit'.

A lot of little challenges and some goo variety in this loop. Just be careful, the 'ESSS' on Springvale has caught a few folks and they've ended up in the grass. Browns Mill has the 'whoops' and depending on how you hit them (like the roller coaster) come in too hot you could catch air. Traffic and what have you can be a problem on Gosnell and International. And of course, 193 is hit or miss. If you have someone parking on the fun section (hey, how many roads are actually fun at the posted limit?) it can kind of suck.
Lastly, always keep in mind that a lot of these roads are residential types and a lot of driveways feed straight onto the road. Some are hidden so be aware of that.

Like I said, first chance we get. I'll take ya all down this. OR the Loudoun Loop. Or.. well.. you know.. we'll ride. Absolutely.

Dang Joe.. you're close.. 'Baby Dragon' is actually in the same area. It actually is made up of the beginning and end of 'The Circuit', you just skip the rest of the roads and run it back and forth (some folks prefer that to working the whole trip).

One of these days.. We'll all hit it.. and draw as much (or try not too) attention as possible.

The baby dragon sounds like ...damn, what's it called...193? 194? Runs from 7 at one end, Langley, thru Great Falls to 123 near Reston. Used to live off that road, LOVED it in the car. Moved out of the area before I got onto 2 wheels...

JD - 'The Circuit' is a name for a series of roads between Sterling (Drainsville actually) and Tysons Corner and back. I could list the roads, but it'll probably be better if I show them too you. Nothing high speed but with sections that have been named (and some that have not) what do you expect from - The Twist, The Wall, Rollercoaster, The Hook, The Tunnel, Whoops.. and even a short version that some people have started calling 'The Baby Dragon' (a ton of turns and elevation changes that some folks run back and forth rather then do the whole thing.

We do have some great roads in the area.. and some not so great roads.. Then of course there are all those wonderful roads just west of us.. Oh, and West Virginia..

Welcome to the crew Marcus, as soon as I get a few items for the bikes I'll be back on the road, ready to go. I def want to explore the N. VA & WV areas this summer. It's starting to get crowded up here in Frederick (main roads anyway) and I'm looking for new roads.

Let's see what this year brings...

Well.. Met Bryce (Bluxb9sx) and we spent a few hours out and about.

Yes, it was a little chilly, but that's alright, the sun was nice and stayed out for the whole run. The heat just never really showed up (at least it wasn't frozen..)

Anyway, we cut through Sterling and hit "The Circuit". The roads, as always were a mystery until we got there, one thing about this route is you never know what the roads will look like until you actually ride onto them. There was, to say the least, a lot of sand on the blacktop.
We wound through the area, stopping once at a Sunoco and chatting for a little.. Even got to help some 'damsel' in distress with regard to how to use a tire gauge and how much air she needs to have in her cars tires. Then it was on to the 'back way' into Tysons Corner as we completed the run. Some of the more fun roads, were kind of made less fun by a few cage operators that have yet to discover silly things, like how to turn, what that vertical pedal on the right is for.. you know the usual thing.

Scariest moment, at least I think, for Bryce was when we discovered a LARGE mound of sand, in the middle of an apex. He can tell you better what happened, but what I saw from my mirror kind of made me think he almost kept it on the road.. Until he headed into the deep leaves and muck on the side of the road. More or less keeping it up he slopped to a stop, then gingerly powered it back onto the road. By this time, I'd come back to check and got a grin at the wet trail he was leaving as the blue CityX rolled away from the mess that was on the side of the road.
We completed "The Circuit", stopping at another Sunoco and chatted, made an adjustment to his suspension, chatted a bit more, then headed for destinations..

The only thing that would have made this a more killer day, Ok, there are a couple of things.. A little more warmth, a few more Buells.. A LOT less sand..

Next time?

Marcus..

Lately, we haven't really been much for the social thing.. Up until recently, most of us were kind of scattered throughout the area. This made it difficult for all of us to meet at any one place at any one time. However, as more and more of us seem to populate an area, I see a change there. After all, there are now a small group of us in the Northern VA area.

Hopefully, we'll start getting together sometime soon. On top of that, we're still working out details on CABO and it's basic structure. So, as the 'club' gets more stabilized and what not, I think you'll start to see more social interaction through that venue as well.

Hmmm.. I have to call Joe and see about Sunday.. I may decide to ride out to Frederick Buell and get my service done. I know it's gonna be a little chilly, but if the weather cooperates I may just bundle up and make the trip. Anyone else in the mood to go spend a little time hanging out at the dealer is more then welcome to join me.

I'll call Joe now and post up time and departure place if it's a go!

And we have a battletrax type event coming here in MD on 4/12, at our Williamsport store. Hook up with Blu one day he's coming up, its a nice ride up 15 from Leesburg, and we can talk some : )

Thanks for your reply. I am excited thats a given. I am interested in racing and battletrax and rides aswell as learning to do my own repairs and maintenance. The problem is I have marginal skills as a rider and no skill as a mechanic. But im not proud and I will be around to ask tons of questions.
For now i have been taking it out for short rides around the country. going slow and trying out my clutch and brakeing. im getting used to the front brake quickly.
As to rides! I live in culpepr and work in Manassas. I have a nice place out in the country. its a great place for after an after ride cook out and get together. So im looking forward to meeting new freinds and finding great places to ride.

Marcus!

First off, thanks for your service and I know I speak for everyone here, we're glad you're back safe!

Now then.. WELCOME TO THE MADNESS!!!

I see you're over in Manassas.. So I'll give you the 'quick' run down locally.. after that, well you'll just be forced to come ride with us!

First off, now that you're a member of CABO (Capital/Chesapeake Area Buell Owners) Bet you didn't know you'd joined a regional club when you got that bike did ya? And a BadWebber.. You're entitled to all the twisties you can stand and then some. You're membership will also include lots of goofy, fun, diverse and unique people that all ride the pegasi!

There are ALL KINDS of things brewing in the world of Buell. Locally ta boot! Let's see, we're working on some stuff for a little later in the year (CABO), but for right now, just get out and get to know your new steed. This place is a wealth of information and can be both really amusing and really scary. As the weather improves you'll start seeing notices of rides that local folks will be putting out, sometimes they're more or less local, other times it's a ride to get to the ride.

Not knowing you're riding preferences, well.. I know 211 pretty well.. just wait until Jose, Ramon, Paul, Joe and a wealth of other people start posting ride ideas. You'll find that 211 may seem a little.. uh.. tame as roads go in our area..

Lastly, have you ever thought of taking it too the track? The Buell Inside Pass is coming up and then there are other opportunities (track clubs) that will allow you to really let it all hang out and push the (speed)limits that you're used too and it's a great way to build your skills!

Ok, I'm outta here (for now) I look forward to seein' ya out there.. sometime.. Soon!

Whats up? Im just back from the SAND BOX and I decided to buy myself a gift. I bought a 2007 XB12s. I have to admit that all the years I have ridden other bikes I never was so excited about them that i joined forums or owner groups. But I LOVE THIS BIKE. Im looking fotward to meeting others who ride Buells and learning more about my motorcycle.
