Sadly, the DC/MD/VA group was missing last year

I plan on doing the ride this year. I'll see if I can coax some others from the DC area.
I had on planning on doing the ride last year, but I lost my tranny 2 weeks prior to the ride.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Where is the CABO meeting in april??
The plan was to go to Frederick on the 4th. Maybe "BLACK" get verify that.
Lars do you have a ride you can lead from the dealership? The MAD ride perhaps?
4/4 is good for me/us. If folks get me a time of day, I'll see if we can't have some dealer "support" in the form of food, music, maybe a banner or 2 to make the HD crowd go "huh?" : ) The sooner I know, the better so I can schedule deliveries around it.
1.5 new Buellers out there as of today, too. The 1 being Aaron on his new blue 08 Uly X, and the .5 being a commitment (but color change coming) from Jonathan on his new 08 Uly XT, which will be barricade orange when we're done (with black front fender a la translucid bikes). Guy's got good taste in color, LOL (actually, he saw mine and fell in love with what was hidden under the mung and bugs..).
Ferris, I got the flyer from b-more and thought it was a demo day, and me being a
ride someone elses bike kinda slut I got all excited. Anyways the minister of slavery round filed itso I didn't get to do a double check on it.
Paul, the MAD ride starts in Germantown
and I don't exactly know it like the back of my hand. However we can give it a shot
if you like.
Usmoto, I think everyone kinda just shows up and we go for an elevated pace kinda ride. So if the next meeting is in Frederick just show up at the announced time and introduce yourself
Hey guys,
So let me get this straight. There was a CABO meeting at Frederick Buell/HD last Friday evening. Didn't see any message about that. But, I don't want to ride up to Frederick on a Friday evening from the south side of DC. Would rather have a root canal than deal with that cluster of traffic on the top of dc beltway and then 270. Please, any other time than Friday evening!
Marlinrider, no I haven't been to that restaurant in Latvia. Glad to hear that you were there, though. Are you back yet? I thought I saw a message that you wrote that you were working at the dealership. What, Baltimore Buell/HD?
So, the next CABO meeting is at Frederick on Sat. April 4th? And there are Buell demos on both the 4th and 5th at Baltimore? Cool!! Too bad I will probably be in Prague at that time. Damn job getting in the way of my fun again! I am really going to miss all of the activities that weekend.
What about the event that was talked about for March 28th at Frederick? A Buell performance/track seminar. I can go to that, but I haven't seen any news that it is going to happen. Ratbuell, any info?
Ok, please disregard my first paragraph in previous post. Took me a minute to realize that was March 2008 info. I am so stupid!! (or just tired from lack of sleep)
Usmoto, I think you're now a member! Basically, we're trying to build some goodwill, awareness, and interest to pull some Buellers together on any given weekend (or weeknight meeting) - frankly, I think the weekend meeting is smarter.
The idea is...keep in touch: drop a line if you're headed out and see if anyone else wants to come along; pass along your favorite roads (I work in Reston, so I'm all about trips starting from around your neck of the woods); provide advice and answers; and give us all a kick in the butt to make this "club" a REAL club!
Ratbuell - was that your dirty Uly sitting right next to the front door of your dealership today? I pulled in at 4:30pm today, realized I was late, but noticed the modded Uly sitting there, thinking it was for sale. Seeing the key in the ignition made me REALLY think it was a demo bike or for sale. Anyway, I really liked the way the auxiliary lights are bolted on, as well as the heated gear plugs! Regardless, sorry I came in after closing time...I headed back home via 355 and started stopping at the Battle of Monocacy signs along the way, then realized there were too many for today...it's a new trip for me next weekend!
Hope everyone could get out into the incredible weather today. I was mostly on dirt roads in Loudon County (not on purpose...I got lost and just stayed on them). The front Sync/rear D616 is a good combo.
I heard about the Buell performance talk at Frederick from Supafast. We are both going to attend it at the Frederick dealer. I don't know what time it starts.
Still waiting for final-final information on the tech seminar here in Frederick, but yes, it IS happening. The flyer lists a start time of 10am, Sat 3/28. It'll be in the HDFR race shop - the tan building on the corner of Grove and 355, kinda in front of the showroom building. Gravel lot. Feel free to park in the main lot, grab a cup-o-coffee and head over from here : ) And bring your coupons, I still have tire gauges.
Hooper - yep, that's my dirtball : ) The Cee Bailey is a new install (Sat. night, actually) so it was still a relatively clean spot, lol. Heated gear thermostat is on a bracket bolted thru the airbox lid down where the seat covers it, so if I want to pull it for summer there's no hole showing. Aux lights are just mounted to the turn signal holes, which were vacated when I installed the CR mirrors. I need to finish wiring them though - so far I only have the cateye rings wired to ignition, I need to modify (shorten) the harness, mount the relay and wire the lamps themselves to high beam...it's on "the list"!
Sorry to hear that, Lars. So, what will it be the first weekend of April....the Spring Open House at Baltimore or the CABO meeting at Frederick on Sat? Or both?
Are you going to be around or out of town?
I'm going to call Rick and Paul because I know they both don't need the kitchen pass.
I have a friend who is tossing around the idea of buying a Buell. Of course me being a good friend, and a promoter of Buell, I was more than happy to suggest models that might work for him. We were thinking an XB9S, XB12S or XB12SS, Uly X or Uly XT. If you know of any used ones for sale, let me know. I did send him a link to the BAD Web classifieds and he'll be checking ebay and Craigslist.
Hey Thunder,
Got a buddy that's thinking of letting his XB9R go. It's an 07 in 03 blue. Great running bike and not too expensive.
There's a swapmeet at the Baltimore HD this saturday and I think he's showing it there. Might be a good way to get into Buell at a discount.
Tell your friend to stop by if he's interested.
Thanks Erik. I'll let my buddy know. It's the "not too expensive" part that may be the kicker. He's a dirt bike guy (Suzuki RM-Z250 and RM-Z450)and this is going to be his first street bike so he doesn't want to spend too much money. If he heads down to Baltimore HD though he can checkout the full line of Buells.
He found a good deal on a Blast. But knowing this guy, he would grow tired of a Blast pretty quickly, so I suggested the Lightning and Uly to him.
Dang Rat, would be something I would love to attend... BUT, I stopped by to say that there is a ( beautiful ) shiny blue buell entered in the Gettysburg bike festival show this weekend,,, I'm gonna have a tough time, entered as american stock... When I left earlier today, it was the only sportbike much less Buell.. Had a few people stop by and snap some picks, one races a tuber on track days... Any way... the show is all weekend for anyone in the area... it's indoor at the sport plex were they host bike fest.
Sorry I won't be able to make the seminar today at Frederick Buell. I fell off a truck at work last Thurs. and broke my hand/wrist pretty bad. Of course, it is my right hand. Will see an Orthopedist doc on Mon. Probably will require surgery. I am so pissed. The riding season is here.
ARGGGHHHHHH, why was I thinking that the seminar was on Sunday? Oh well, all my gear is still pretty damn soaked from my excursion last night. I hope it went well.
For the record, I did my part in getting some of the sand off the road last night. After 3 hours in the rain, I have a pretty good layer of sand on my jacket and pants. Better there than on the asphalt.
Wow Brian,
Sorry you got hurt. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. For the rest of the group, I attended the seminar at Frederick Buell today. I am sorry if you missed it. Blublack was there. It was excellent. Basically, Mike Schultz had three flywheel assemblies laid out from different machines, concentrating on XBs, with an excellent discussion of advantages and disadvantages of various set-ups and compression ratios. He demonstrated different heads, valve set-ups, clutches. He showed us different suspension set-ups, from simple stuff, up to what they use for racing. He also walked through the XB, the XBRR, and the 1125R, taking off body parts as he discussed various pieces of equipment. He also started race bikes, to include an XB, the XBRR, and the 1125r raced at Daytona. Pretty sweet! We also got to see their frame building shop and examples of the work there. I think they have more equipment than NASA. We spent about five hours there, but time flew by. We also met the owner, and watched Rat send another 1125 out the door. It was really an exceptional demo.
