Micah, Try doing to two at a time. It looks like a Buell bomb blew up.

Phil, the MC Hooligans http://www.mchooligans.com/home are riding this Saturday. Meeting at Corinth HD/Buell at 10:00 and riding to Saint Jo. I didn't see you on the members' list so I'm letting you know. As you can see from the above picture I won't be there.

Thanks p_squared, it won't look anything like that when I am done.

Paul, that is exactly what I am hoping to not have happen. I am trying to keep it to just one bike at at time, but finding parts means I usually get a better deal on an entire bike.

Anyway... good luck on your rebuild. I am trying to time the completion of the S3 Streetfighter by March Badness.

Gotta get & put new shoes on the bike. She's a bit "squirrely" lately when leaned over (What are wear bars again?).

Should have the new tires here ~20th. Until then, not a lot of riding.

Looks like you're in the midst of taking care of that 'leaking problem' you were having @ Inside Pass.

Hello, everyone; been lurking about for a few months now. I just wanted to drop a note in here and properly introduce myself. Although I live in far south Tarrant County, a good clip from the Mid-Cities area, I recently asked Rowdy to add me to the list at M. C. Hooligans so I could keep apprised of scheduled rides and things. I've yet to be able to hang with a group (too slow), but then again, the one time I tried it, it wasn't with any fellow BWB'ers.

This last Saturday I took advantage of the awesome weather and took the Ulysses for a ride down to Glen Rose to check out the twisties there. Bikes everywhere, but no Buells. It would've been nice to run into some fellow BWB'ers or Hooligans out there. Maybe I did and didn't know it?

I notice that things have been pretty quiet here on the TBNT board lately. Do we have any fellow Buell riders in south Tarrant County? I know I've seen a yellow XB Lightning near my house in Mansfield. ???

Welcome to the board Hugh. I lived in SW Fort Worth until late 2007 when I moved to Azle. I’ve been trying to hook up with the Hooligans myself but scheduling has been a problem. They usually meet in Grapevine so Hwy 360 will take you straight to it, or wait till they ride south and meet them in your area. Here’s a link that may help you find some good rides. http://www.motorcycleroads.us/regions/tx_north.htm l I’ve ridden all over south and west of Fort Worth and most of the good roads are on there. I haven’t ridden north or east very much but I plan to make more trips to the northwest as soon as I get my bike back together.
I’ve ridden several times with the Christ Rockets which is the areas sport bike chapter of the CMA. They plan a ride every month on a Saturday. They usually meet at the Cracker Barrel in Arlington on I-20. I will say they tend to reach excess speeds IMO but don’t feel like you have to keep up with them, I don’t and the sweeper won’t mind. Here’s the Christ Rockets’ president Robert Dumond’s email RaDumond@SBCGlobal.Net. Send him a message and he’ll be happy to add you to their email list.
I had the opportunity to ride with several Buell owners when the Thunderbikes of North Texas (TNT) was active. TNT was a BRAG chapter before BRAG was replaced with the Buell Owners. We usually didn’t exceed 80-85 on the straights and really enjoyed the curves, but again never ride over your level.
Hope to ride with you soon. Paul

Hugh, welcome to the 'gathering'. If you get up north of the metroplex, there's a few of us around to ride with.

Paul, lmk when you got the bike back together and want to hit up the 'Northwest' portion of the map. Muenster/Sanger/etc. is where we (friend & I) do most of our weekend riding.

+1 on riding your own pace w/ Robert's group. There are some FAST riders in there.

If yall want to have a BBQ somewhere other than a BBQ restaurant, I'll offer the lakehouse on the west shore of Eagle Mountain Lake. It's just off FM 730, 2 miles north of Hwy 199 in Azle or 10 miles south of Hwy 114 in Boyd. May or early June should be great weather.

There's 2. We can also include wives. I guess the best thing to do is pick a date about a month in advance and then get the word out.

If I remember correctly, both Keith (Dark Horse Moto) and Robert (XBLights) were the original brains behind the idea.

Lakehouse sounds good to me. I know where I can find some piggies for the cooking & eating. I shoot, but someone else gets to cook.

How long does it take to smoke a whole pig? I have a friend who lets me borrow his trailerable smoker. If it's takes too long we can just have it processed into ribs and chops and smoke them or use the grill.
Where do you go to hunt your pigs and have them processed?

I didn't say anything about "processing" either.

1 of my buddies from the Marines has ~80 acres down by Corsicana completely 'infested'.

We got this 1 a cpl months back. ~120 lbs.

pig

I'll look around to see what I can find in regards to butchers and go from there. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

"Average" spit roasting times for a whole pig at 350 degrees:
65 lbs = 6-7 hrs
75 lbs = 7-8 hrs
100 lbs = 8-9 hrs
125 lbs = 9-10 hrs

Since Corsicana is not that far away you should find the meat processor closest to your house just for convenience.

Yup, she sure does. She hasn't gotten in much riding lately though. Been looking at the schedules for Cresson so see what weekend(s) I can talk her into hitting this year. And of course if she goes, then I may as well go too, darn my luck. lol

I've been waiting for the 2009 Ducati Trackdays to be posted http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/DUCATI-TRACK-DA Y-s/140.htm
they allow Buells to register. Of course I've been watching for the 2009 Buell Inside Pass dates. The Ducati Trackdays would be good for her, small groups and very relaxed environment.

She's done Inside Pass 2 yrs ago as well as RideSmart. I'll check the link for 'planning purposes' as well.

She just likes the 1.7 mile track @ Cresson. Who am I to argue w/ a beautiful woman who likes to ride, does track days & even lets me sleep in the same bed with her?

Well said Phil.
I like the tighter tracks too. They seem well suited for the HD powered Buells.

Just got a good rain in Azle.
Watching the moon shine off the calm lake the next night made me look at some dates. How's Saturday, June 6th for the BBQ? It's the day before a full moon and is one of the longest days of the year. Check your calendars and let me know what yall think.

FYI, Grif's cycle shop is having an open house on the 28th of this month. Just had lunch today with the owner and he's still working out the details, but here's the basics for anyone in the area that's interested:
Time: 12-3 pm
Place: Grif's @ 2406 Stemmon's Fwy, Lewisville (Just off of I-35E North)
Goodies: 10%+ discount in store & raffles (he hasn't decided what he's raffling off yet)
Bikewash: He's working on getting the gals from Twin Peaks from across the street to wash bikes.

Btw, he also charges $25-30 per wheel (off the bike) to change tires & balance.

Nice guy & nice shop, so if you're in the area, stop by & say 'hi'.

Also, Twin Peaks is starting up their bike night again as the weather gets better, as well as High Five cycles. Have fun everyone.

The group I ride with meet up at Twin Peak's on Sundays at 7 to ride, also every Sunday at 3 in grapevine there is always a stunt show and GTG at Cutie Pies next to Bass Pro. High Five I think is Thursday nights.

The wife and I decided Saturday 3/14 we would run up to Talihina and the the Talimena Scenic Byway, so we set out this morning 3/15 at around 9am. It was a little chilly, but we were suited up well. We managed to log just over 500 miles today.

We rode from Frisco, TX to Atoka via 75/69. We took 7/3 east from Atoka over to Antlers and then shot up Hwy 2 to 271 and pulled into Talihina. We managed to grab a bite to eat at the Kountry Kitchen and then proceeded up the ridge and onto the byway. We pretty much had the whole road to ourselves. We could see for a good distance from each of the vistas, but the road was pretty damp although it never dropped a bit of rain or drizzle on us. I would like to caution any one going up on the byway, to watch for MOSS on the road. It is just pass the real twisties going West from 259 or during the first set of sharp S turns going East about 2 miles before 259. As we approached this area going East it was on my right hand side and all along the road for about 200 yards about where the right wheel of most cars would be.

We wrapped up the Talimena by heading east and connecting with 259 and ran that south all the way to 82 where we shot back West to 75 and then home to Frisco.

All total, we left at 9am and got home at 7:45pm. We had a great lunch and several good warming up stops for coffee.

Get out and ride....
