Great weekend! The weather was beautiful, the company was great and the roads were, well Appalachian. Webe, Ferris and I rode one great road after another today. After Webe and I headed east, just about the time the road started to get boring, I found another great road in central VA. Heck we even passed two Amish horse drawn buggies on this back road. On top of great riding, I had just about as much fun yesterday drinking beer, shooting the breeze and putting on the bags in FB&D's driveway.

Second week in April, I hope to do it again.

Now this would be something to check out:

Hannover new digs

Translated by www.freetranslation.com:
"Invitation to the opening at the 21.03.2009 from 10:00 o'clock

Volker Schirmer & Rolf Geflitter with accustomed service in new accomodations.

We are happy to see you!"

A close up of the new digs (obviously enhanced):

Hannover new digs 2

To think they spent 1 Euro sending me the card (because I bought something from them basically over Email) and there's no chance that I'll be able to make it...
The backside:

Hannover new digs 3

A little more detailed:

Hannover new digs 4

Quite an improvement over what it was during my visit to Buell-Hannover in June 2007, not that it was anything to sneeze at then...

REQUEST and OPEN INVITE
18th of April-I am putting together a benefit ride for a local teenager, and friend of Sabrina's, who was hurt in a farming accident. Little girl was caught up in the PTO shaft and was very badly injured, bad. Planning on a car/bike show. BBQ, Poker Run, Silent auction, at least two bands, 50/50 drawing, door prizes, and more. I'm doing this in conjunction with her aunt who is doing a benefit dinner later in the day. I would like to invite my ellow buellers to come join the fun, and if you would like to help with anything, it would be much appreciated! Much help will be needed.
Hey Rubberdown, you still thinking of throwing a house warming party? Had a great weekend of riding.

Jim, please feel free to post about the benefit for the injured girl out on the Quick Board, too - it'll get a lot more exposure that way.

Carlos, should I take the RK to a body shop and get an "official" estimate for repairing all the roost damage from your Uly yesterday, or do ya just want to send me a check for $1000 and call it good? : D

Jim- I've made that ride in the opposite direction a few times. Yea, it's a LONG haul.

That was probably Magnolia Cemetery; it's a pretty cool place. Over 1000 Confederate soldiers are buried there, several Confederate generals, and two Hunley crews (including the crew on it when the sub was recovered a few years ago). It's a cool place to wander around. There are some amazing tombstones and mausoleums there too, like this one:

Hey Hugh,

You're right. I just pulled it up on google and I recognize the satellite view. I didn't see the monument you have pictured though.

Just wanted to pop in and clarify on Jim's post...
1) It's a death's head, not a dead head.
2) That pic was taken at St. John's Lutheran Church graveyard on Archdale St. in Charleston.
3) I took over 100 pictures this weekend, mostly of cemeteries. I have a very tolerant and generous boyfriend : D

Jim- That pyramid is one of the coolest things there. IIRC it was built by a prominent doctor from Charleston.

I'm pretty sure this is it (circled):

We didn't explore that side of the lake at all. The picture I posted of the alligator sign was right at the extream left of your picture, where the pond touches the edge.

It's a cool city. We went to several different cemeteries (I thought of Brankin.) Had lunch downtown.

The only annoying thing was they have decided to prohibit motorcycles from the public parking lots, so that threw a wrench in things at first. After looking, there are plenty of private lots though, so it turned out not to be such a big deal.

Well, I could say a few things about my riding skill but everyone here will know better. If I do not have $1000, can we just do it again and I will follow you? I figure that way at least we are even and it sounds a lot more fun.

Brankin's town announces:

This is the release sent out this morning from The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association:

The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association is pleased to announce that our 69th Annual Spring Rally will be held in New Bern, North Carolina on May 15 & 16. The rally site is the New Bern Fairgrounds, a 40 plus acre site located at 3700 East US 70 Highway in New Bern.

Mark Cox, President of The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association said, “We feel it is in the best interest of The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association and our customers to leave the Myrtle Beach rally venue. We will continue our legacy of 69 years celebrating the oldest, continuous rally by offering our Spring Beach Rally in New Bern”. Mark went on to say, “This new venue will allow us to get back to basics and offer our existing and new customers a rally experience they will appreciate without restrictions and with the ability to enjoy the freedom of riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle”.

Yes, it is good-bye Myrtle Beach! We have given this issue serious consideration and wanted to go where we would be welcomed with open arms. T.A. Bayliss, III, the mayor of New Bern, words of welcome say it best, “We are pleased and honored that you have chosen to hold your rally in our city, and we pledge our total cooperation in making your rally a most pleasurable and memorable occasion for all in attendance”.

Historic New Bern, located at the confluence of two rivers, is the second oldest town in North Carolina. One of its many features is the picturesque downtown waterfront district and New Bern is only a 30-minute motorcycle ride to the beaches. Or, if you prefer, plan a ride to the Croatan National Forest located southeast of New Bern.

For more information, you can go to The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association web site at: www.chdda.com

I saw a Yellow Buell on Western Blvd yesterday around 4:30. I think it was an X1. I only got a look at it head on, but it had the bump in the flyscreen like those bikes do.

Anyone from here?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I met a black Uly in J ville. It was BuellerJim.He is a Instructor trainer on the base for our Marines.
He was gonna have a front tire replaced, but local dealer sold him the wrong tire Bummer.
Great guy, I really liked the sticker and emblem on his shirt and bike. Don't haul bikes in a truck or trailer.Guess you would have to see the decal.LMAO
Thats funny when two trucks pull up to the dealer to unload their bikes (fairly new bikes)Maybee inspection was bad or front tire dry rotted worn out or something?.Look on their faces Priceless.
Later all,
Webe

Just wondering, anyone have a sling bag they would consider swapping for either a brand new messenger bag or camel pack? I have two camel packs, and my laptop won't fit the bag. I'd rather have a toter for work.

Rubberdown, we're gonna try to make VIR next weekend. Pats never been there, and I would really enjoy watching you race. More than likely, we'll be down early Sunday. What time does the action start?

Kristi, it's gonna be tough dropping off the baby. Hope it goes smooth.

Twig, Friday is practice. Saturday a.m. is practice. Saturday p.m. are the longer "solo" (don't be mislead; they are big packs) races which are 16-20 laps. I'm racing 2 races Saturday afternoon. Sunday a.m. is practice. Sunday afternoon are the 6-7 lap "sprint" races. I'm entered in 5 sprints on Sunday. So, I have a big weekend of racing. I'll soon find out how race fit I am.

Sat. p.m.: middleweight and heavyweight solos

Sun. p.m.: C superstock; B superstock; Sr. superbike middleweight; C superbike; and , B superbike.

I don't mind racing "up" classes because I want the experience and its fun to beat some modified 750's and 1000's ... and get an ass kicking to boot from others. A couple of my races are back to back which is always exciting.

It will be great to see ya'll. Pete and U4 are coming. Rachel may come for some. We're staying at the lodge. You have my #. Mike.
