Author Message   Hoosiermaexle Posted on Monday, March 09, 2009 - 11:07 am:        Hello, i need a rear tire for my Buell X1, now my question, do you guys order online (great prices of course) and go somewhere else to mount it on the wheel, or do you go to a local dealer (cycle outfitter / HD southside etc...) and let them do the service ? This is my first bike tire experience in the US, so, any suggestions are welcome. thanks!   Ocbueller Posted on Monday, March 09, 2009 - 05:08 pm:        Mostly your choice and situation. I order online and mount and balance my own with minimalist equipment. If you are without garage, compressor, etc.. and need a shop to mount it for you, speak to your local shop before ordering online. They might discount the mounting if you buy from them. Most shops can get any brand tires. SteveH   Drewvanracer Posted on Monday, March 09, 2009 - 10:19 pm:        I always order my tires in and have a friend at Dreyers mount them on my pulled rims (so I can check my bearing, pads, ect). I like the guys at cycle outfitters they have always done me right on other items I have purchased there. Purchasing at the local shops keeps them around when you need them. Ask for Service. 1-800-667-7939 Jeff   Hoosiermaexle Posted on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - 09:55 am:        well, don't understand me wrong, i am not looking for the "cheapest" when it comes to my bike, it has to be done with prudence and reliability, BUT, when it comes to mount a tire (i bring the wheel in),this is for sure not a rocket science, i don't care about 10 $ more or less, but when it comes to 100$ difference for the same simple service (tire + mount), I DO CARE ! I was totally intimidated, but decided to by a set of three Motion Pro Spoons, and give it a try myself. I figured if I couldn't figure it out, I would just take the wheel and tire to the dealer, and pay the price. It was super simple and super easy. I couldn't believe it. I did both tires on my Blast in about an hour.
