I would like to do the forks, but dang that is a lot of work. And it would be near impossible to get the triple trees back on without scratching the ever loving crap out of it.

You can get them at the Music Farm, or pay at the door. If you want me to pick one up in advance for you I can. I go to school right beside the Music Farm. The show is Sunday March 1st.

I'm not trying to out do Xblaw, thats top notch work , great job on the paint. this is just a pic of what you would call my winter mods.

Have to give my thanks to american sport bike, they really go over the top. the mirrors had caps taped to the front of the mirror packages to cap off the holes left by the factory mirrors and the indicators came with quick connects the right size for my bike wires.

So I got the bar end mirrors, which rock. the polished aluminum indicators and the axle sliders.

So far the plan is-

X1 front end
Stainless steel brake line
Polish the front pm caliper
s1 front fairing with "special" bolts to hold it on
M2 skinny tail with a corbin
Paint my wheels black and put on a new front rotor
Put the pulley cover on
Rework that carb and polish the intake

So far thats whats on my list. Im hoping i can get some primer on the new front fender tonight

What about hard anodizing the forks black? That seems like it wouldnt scratch when you installed them

Tree- Only the 06's came with Dunlops. Most people that had them complained about the front end slowly "weaving" at speed. Nothing that would get out of control, they just weirded some people out. From all I've read, they do have slightly better traction on dirt, and they wear about the same as the Pirelli Scorpion Syncs. Most people that changed say the Pirellis seem to stick a little better in the twisties.

Sorta disappointed in the cycle show. I guess if you were in the market for a new bike or needed some basic gear like a helmet, jackets or gloves, it would be a great place to comparison shop. I was looking to buy a couple aftermarket things like a fuse block and a 90-degeree valve stem adapter and wanted to look at some different tires but had no luck. Nice ride to Greenville and back though.

Greenville's first was also my first big glossy magazine motorcycle show. I went last night. Walked thru, alone and some parts twice, in less than two hours including snacks & chat time.
And, I was disappointed, too.
This is the final show of the circuit/season.
I was told (by one of three booth/vendors offering to clean my glasses) that not all vendors attend all shows: they sign-up for cities desired.
It was cool to be able to test-sit 'bout any new model.
Plus, 'we' receive a Buell tee-shirt just for showing up!

Just finished the XB headlight mod. (The one wear both headlights stay on when the hi-beam is on.) What a pain in the behind. The switch practically exploded when I removed it. I had no idea there were two springs holding the switch together, so, of course, it fell apart and I lost everything including the detent ball. I put my afro-engineering to good use and dissected 3 steel-shot shotgun shells (#2, #4, and #6) to get the right size steel ball to replace the detent ball. #4 was just the right size. Anyhow, I like the mod.

DUDE what did you take a switch apart for? There are two wires to swap at the harness connector between the headlight and the bike. But if its done already then its done. Mine took about 30 seconds once you had the fly screen off....

Haha. I soldered a jumper wire b/w the switch wire connections. Oh well, what is done is done. Works perfectly. Wish I had known though.

Thats ok man. I like the mod also. It gives a lot more light at night since I do a lot of early morning riding. You will like the extra visibility!

Hey Eryc, did you happen to space your front fly screen housing out a bit when you installed your crossroads handlebars? Or did you get it back in place without binding the cables?

I did not space out the flyscreen at all. The cables were a little tight running though there, but they work. I have not had any problems with binding. I would think spacing out the flyscreen would be pretty ugly, anyhow.

I used 2 flat washers to space mine out. I have seen those that had large spacers and you are right, UGLY. Anyway thanks. Mine was still tight without going through the side of the fly screen housing like the directions had suggested a possibility. But it works!

I should have my computer with me but not the bike (its hard to carry enough stuff for a 14 month old on the uly, not to mention the boy). maybe I can meet some of ya'll in the area. I'll probably be by the dealer and try to find were american choppers moved to.

Raptor,

Well see you you then. Not many (if any) good roads to ride around here.

But you will want to be aware of the new laws that the City of Myrtle Beach has passed. These include new noise violations, parking rules, helmet law, ect. You can look them up at the following link:

http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/newlaws.html

These new Ordinances are to be enforced only in the Myrtle Beach City Limits. So my recommendation would be to stay outside the city limits. The city has made it very clear that the are completely against the rallies and will have check points set up to enforce them. But the City of North Myrtle Beach has "open arms" to all fellow bikers.

The city will begin enforcing the new ordinances this weekend. We'll see how that goes. A group of riders are going to ride into Myrtle Beach with no helmets this Saturday and have already been offered free law representation to fight the $100 tickets...

Hey, I dropped by Lowcountry HD/Buell today, and things are looking up. They had at least 7 (yes, seven) Buells for sale. 6 new: 1 XB12s, 1 XB12XP (the police bike), 1 1125CR and 3 1125R's (IIRC). There was also a used 1125CR out front with a Jardine exhaust and 2" wide chicken strips on the rear tire- what a waste! It was black and looked nearly new. Oh yea, there was a hero blue XB parked in the emloyees parking area too.

I also confirmed with the lady at the clothing counter that they ARE going to stock some Buell clothing. Probably not a lot, but enough people have fussed about it that they're at least going to stock some T-shirts. I promised her I WOULD be back to purchase!
