I'm thinking about joining the Buell family, and my grandmother lives in Durham. I would really like to go down to NC to visit her, and hopefully rent a Buell (XB) for a few days. Two birds with one stone The weather up here in MA will be crap for another three or so months, and I'm dying to ride. Does anyone know if any of the HD/Buell dealers in the area do rentals of any sort? Thanks for your time all! |

Thanks for the tip Xb9ser! I just checked their site and it looks like they only rent Blasts. I sent them an e-mail to see if they rent any other models. Anyone else have any suggestions? |

Ray Price has more than the Blast! in their rental fleet. I think they have a Uly and a few other Buells. From their sponsor page here: We now have an 1125R available for rent. The rate is $79.95 per day plus taxes and insurance. Contact Mark Stahl, our rental manager, to setup your extended test drive and more details at 919-832-2261. Jim, it is 79.95 per day, and I am planning on having some new models available in the spring time. -Jordan Post when you're coming. Maybe some C3er's will be around for a guided ride! |

Shelton's in Durham rent's Buells. I don't really know the specifics, but they have a smoking $20/day deal on the Blast. I assume they rent other things as well. Ray Price in Raleigh has an extensive collection of Buells for rent, including an 1125 and a Ulysses. I'm more familiar with Ray Price. They are sponsors here, and are fairly clued in. You can ask about rates over here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/408337.html?1230596125 |

Do post. We can show you the good roads. Do you know how far away from home you'll want to get? This area isn't great for riding, but is surrounded by areas that are. |

If I do make it down there and the rental doesn't have a mileage limit I'm willing to go as far as necessary |

Plan on heading for the mountains then. There is Deals Gap if you want to do something famous, but there are hundreds of miles of similar unknown roads up there. |

Did this ever pan out Schleppy? I am wanting to try out a XB-XT for more than just a quick 'beltline / urban' demo. A 3 day weekend ride would tell me about all I'd need to know about the XT. Even better: an XT for an overnighter camp-out with the Mrs, an X for a day in Uwharrie NF gravel roads/trails, and an Ss for a quick 1/2 day solo loop around Jordan Lake & Chat Co. backroads. I bet a weekend like that would leave a perma-grin one couldn't remove with a belt sander. Looking at the two local(ish) dealer sites -Ray Price & Shelton's Durham- I didn't see anything beyond the Blast for rent. RPHD has a red 08 XT trade-in (?)ex-rental(?)with about 3k IIRC... Does anyone here know the history on this bike? Must - Resist - Buying - Another - Motorcycle - Now - But - Resistance - Is - Waning... (my little junk is down for a starter relay - on order/in transit- but painful to be down on a nice Carolina spring afternoon. ) Thanks for any input. |

Check Ray Price. I'm pretty sure they have a Uly for rent even though it isn't listed on their website. Mikethebike72 (here on C3) works at Ray Price, he might be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction. |
