My XB9SX has no power and it turns the pipe black in about a half an hour ride. Harley says it is because the Buell fuel injection system sucks. Also Buell says i should get 50 to 65mpg and i only get 42mpg. anyone have any ideas.
P.S. I am going to try and ride all winter. |

Jason, how many miles do you have on it? It takes a while to break it in. How does it turn the pipe black? On the inside of the exhaust or is it somewhere on the outside.
Are you running the stock exhaust?
BTW: glad you found the site and got signed up. A couple of us ride all winter. As you well know there can be days when it gets up to 60 in Dec.
I did not realize you lived in Fountain so you may be pretty close to me and I would like to take a look at your bike. If the Harley dealership in Colorado Springs is telling you the Buell fuel injection system sucks then they have no idea what they are talking about.

I believe High Country H-D/Buell is worth a call to service. Explain what is going on and I bet they will want to look at your bike to diagnose its running condition.
From what you describe it does not sound correct, nor tolerable. High Cntry is a sponsor here, they have raced Buells on the drag strip, on the Salt at Bonneville, and up Pikes Peak in the Race to the Clouds. They don't think Buells suck, they know how to fix them and how to modify them for lots of different race applications.

My Buell is a pig
