Damn Mike, I'd have called you myself if I knew you were there. Thanks for all your help, I wouldn't have it if it wasn't for you. I got the warranty. Michaels sounds good. Carlos - It's an 06. It has 40k fewer miles and 2 years more warranty than the one I used to own. We swapped the plastic so I still have my red airbox. The prior owner did the beak removal. I say we. Jordan swapped it, including my luggage rack. I don't think he enjoyed the luggage rack installation much. (Message edited by jlnance on October 25, 2008) |

Pammy- The darker one is from the front cylinder. I do know that the dealership had flooded the bike badly while they had it, so I assumed the difference in color between the two plugs was due to that. I checked for an intake leak by spraying carb/choke cleaner around the intake seals while the engine was idling and didn't hear any change in idle, but perhaps I wasn't thorough enough. I haven't checked for an exhaust leak yet. |

So Jim- what happens with your original Uly now? Are they going to fix it and sell it, or is it going back to Buell for analysis? |

So Jim- what happens with your original Uly now? Ray Price owns it. I assume it will be fixed and put up for sale. It's orange now, but the rebuilt motor will hopefully make up for that. |

I'm not really much of a party goer, but last night I went to my first every Halloween party. It was pirate themed, and I actually won a prize for the costume.
Another use for chaps. Amanda was having fun dressing me up, and at some point put brown eye liner on me. I was going to protest, but she was really excited about getting to put makeup on me. I though, hey, it's a halloween party, why not. Well tonight as we are eating dinner, I realize I don't ever remember taking the makeup off. So I ask her "do I still have eyeliner on?" She looks at me and says "yes, a little." So the wheels are spinning in my head and I ask "So let me get this straight. I went to Michales this morning and hung out with a bunch of bikers while I was wearing eyeliner?" At least it was cold and that cut down on attendance. |

Well this was an adventure for me. I was riding around on the outskirts of Chapel Hill on some back road. Had some really nice twisties here and there. I was starting to get dark and i was coming up on this really nice curve. I took the curve perfectly. Everything was going smooth, when all of a sudden my rear tire hops. There was a lil bump in the middle of the curve. So my rear tire hops a lil. At first I'm all like, "its all good". Then the tire lands on some gravel and slides out from under me. As soon as I landed on the gravel, I knew what was going to happen. I let go of the handle bars and let the bike slide out from under me. The bike slide for about 30-40 feet before hitting the side of the road. I slid about 40-50 feet in to the ditch. I rolled one time in the slide. I was sooooooo lucky. No road rash, no torn clothing, no bones sticking out. My jacket had a lil scuff over the right elbow pad and my helmet had 2 lil scratches on it. The bike was lucky too. The right handle bar broke and my saddle bags had some road rash and the tank got a lil scratched. I stood up and checked myself got the bike out of the road(luckly there was no one coming), called a friend in the area and sat, smoked a cigg and thought for a lil bit. I HAD FUN!!!! I'm waiting on new bars and cant wait to get back on her. I am going to take it a lil cautious for a bit, but I'm not going to "walk away". I'm going through with drawls right now. I need to ride. lol Hope to see you all out there at some point |

"I checked for an intake leak by spraying carb/choke cleaner around the intake seals while the engine was idling and didn't hear any change in idle, but perhaps I wasn't thorough enough. I haven't checked for an exhaust leak yet." Those are excellent pics of the plugs. It is hard to tell in the pictures and I don't know how many miles are on those plugs, but you could have a bit of oil on that front plug. You can tell that the rear plug has been really hot(bluish tint on the ground electrode). Of course hot spots are usually what cause detonation. Was the onset of the pinging overnight? One day it ran fine the next it was pinging. Did you alter something? Fuel change, cleaned or changed air filter, changed exhaust, etc...? Did you mean brake cleaner? Carb cleaner is BAD to spray around any rubber or painted parts. And with O2 sensors, I would be inclined to use water or WD40 at the most. |

I've been talking with S1wmike about meeting up with some of the HRH guys. We're thinking about meeting 1/2 way for lunch if weather permits one weekend. We'll probably meet somewhere between Williamston and Elizabeth City. Stay tuned if you're interested in riding along! |

Those plugs have been on the bike for ~5k miles. I've put about 3k miles on the bike since I bought it back, so in theory if the discoloration was from something the dealership did they've been burning themselves clean for the past ~3k miles.

It seems that the pinging started overnight. I went from not noticing anything strange to hearing it ping one day while riding to work. I don't recall changing anything on the bike that should have affected the way it runs. Since I bought it back I've replaced the steering head bearings, replaced the throttle/idle/clutch cables, and had the headlights replaced. Other than that the bike has just gone through normal maintenance, and nothing in particular around the time it started pinging. I did use carb cleaner to check the intake seals, so it's possible I did some damage there. |

I added an hid to the low side, best thing I've done to my bike. light output is where it should be now. I'd still like the beam to be wider though. |

Looks like we have a date with the HRH crew. Not sure on exactly what time or where on Sunday, those details to follow. Tentative info is Sunday, leaving Grifton (or surrounding area) around 9 a.m. and heading to meet HRH somewhere between Williamston and Elizabeth City. So, with those sketchy details, who's in? |

Update on Sunday's ride with HRH. Sunday 10:30ish Edenton NC If anyone knows the area, post up with a good meeting spot, otherwise, stay tuned for more! Looks like HRH may be 7 or so going. Who from C3 is interested in going? |
