Brankin - I have the ability to convert VHS to Mpeg. Provided it's not a commercial tape (doesn't include the VHS copy protection signal).

Tree - it was nice meeting you in Suches. Be sure to check out the South Carolina Buell Rider's thread as well. I'm sure you heard that we'll all be back in that area in March.

Brankin I also have a way of recording VHS to tape, regardless we can get it done.

On a more Pi$$y note, I borrowed a buddy's bike, let my brother ride mine over the weekend, with me of course. I was on a gixxer 1100 and reached a straight away. I wanted to "see" what it would do. I look in hte mirror just in time to see my brother turn into a parking lot. WTF? I go back and I can hear that the Buell is not feeling right, about like it dropped a cylinder. He says it just starting running like crap and he knew he should pull over( he did learn something from all my talks, thank goodness). I whack the throttle and she don't do nothing. Ok maybe the throttle cable snapped. Take evrything apart and look down in the ThrottleBody to see a screw sitting on top of the butterfly valve. My heart hit the ground. I am thinking pieces of metel have been sucked into the engine. After closer inspection, it seems the rod that the butterfly mounts to, which also actuates the TPS, snapped in half right where the screw threads in. BUT all pieces were accounted for! : )
Anyone wanna help change this out? I'll BBQ

Jim, sounds like you got lucky. That could have been real bad news. I'd be glad to TRY to help you with it. Have'nt seen you in a while. Maybe you could supervise me installing a new clutch cable on my bike.

My buddy at work is making good progress on my old mx360. He's already got it running. It fired up, and his boxer hauled ass across the backyard, jumped up and over the back porch steps to reach the house. He's also recovered the seat, painted the fenders and motor, and header. Once he gets the silencer he ordered, he's gonna take it to a farm and ride it. I can't wait to see and hear it run again. I'll get some pics.

Well just dang it... I dont have any spare parts laying around for that t-body, that was the only one I had.

You should be able to replace it without rotating the motor out though.

Well hell, this weekend is out for me, Tonya has big plans for us and someone she works with. yea:{

The bad part is the spring sidebroke just short enough that it won't slide out with out hitting the head. Is there another easier way you can think of? Can I take the TBI off from up above?

Glad to hear that bike went to a good home. I'd be glad to help with the clutch cable, done that one many times!

I'll keep ya posted

Dang It I gotta start remembering when I am on Sabrina's computer!!!

If I was gonna put two huge nuts on something, and I knew they had to be removed at the same time, I'd be certain to make them 1/16" difference in size, because I know my customers love to buy sockets. : )

On the up side, I had no difficulty getting the drive nut off, despite the red locktite and 260 ft-lbs of torque used to put it on.

I did discover during this process that one of the bolts holding my primary cover on had vibrated it's way to freedom at some point. I have no idea how that is possible. I know there was loctite on those bolts. I'm amazed at what vibration can do.

BTW - When I went to pick up the stator, there was a pack screws on layaway for me as well. Turned out to be the screws needed to hold the stator on, which I didn't know were special, and hadn't ordered. You looking out for me MTB?

Jim- I'll be interested to see what your old stator looks like. When installing the new one, several guys have recommend putting some RTV silicone around the black plug where the wires exit the primary before pushing it into the hole to ensure a good seal. Also check that sheet metal plate visible behind the primary chain in your photo above to ensure it's not chafing the wires. A glob of silicone under that to protect the wires is a good idea too.

BTW- are you still sold on the XB9 primary?

Hugh - I like the XB9 primary. Occasionally I wish I had a 6th gear, but I don't really know why. I'd have to be running 90mph all the time to use it.

The low speed driveability is much improved. I made it up the C3 Central driveway 2 up a couple times. That would have required a lot more clutch with the stock gearing.

Guys and gals, I also have room if anyone want to sleep(over) that weekend. I'm only a good 15 minute ride from the dragstrip.

I got the throttle linkage off, the TPS off, the rod and butterfly is out. But DAMNIT the rod off the 9 ThrottleBody Just wouldn't budge. With a little but of over application(read tired, cranky and just plain tired of F'n withit) it is no longer useful. No problem after closer inspection, it wouldn't have worked with out modification, thus weakening the structure. Not something I want sitting on top of the intake tract. So if anyone has a butterfly rod laying around, I'll pay!

Kristi-did you get my email about a user here on the board? Probably sent it under Sabrina's name knowing me.

I will be at the smokeout as well, just have to decide where to stay, as nothing is really close to the track hotel wise, as as much as I love my own bed the ride from Apex to Rockingham and back would not be great after a day at the track... Usually have gotten hotels so we had someplace to crash after and during the event when we needed a nap or a shower... not much of the party animals, me the wife and the usual one or two close friends

I'm thinking about going to the smoke out next year. A couple C3'ers have not been and are talking about going. I dig the bikes and the fact that there are very few posers there. I doubt it will be something I will do every year, tight riding budget and all, but once every few years I would like to go.
