Bomber...great scenario and primary reason why nothing happens or events are under attended or fail.

Not all in camp the first could show regularly due to other obligations, ergo camp the second subconsciously decided camp the first was neither worthy of membership nor participation.

Sounds like the Vatican's approved methods for birth control and abortion to me.

Bill

while I agree in the main . . . .I'd alter your statement a bit . . ..

Camp the first didn't attend for the best of reasons, which, of course, varied from person to person . . . . someone who doesn't do something does so for the best of reasons . . .they couldn't or didn't want to . . . ..

camp the second excersized the same discretion when minutes were not taken/published (more of an inertia thing than anything else)

there was, of course, a third camp . . .. . those who made many, but not all of the meetings, and didn't expect minutes to be taken (me, among others) . . . ..

I think it was a statement that Roberts Rules of Order/BRAG percentages on patches and tshirts, and the link were not the reasons people got involved in Brag in the first place . . .. .

but, I could be wrong . . . .. again

Probably some reasons why folks get uninvolved as well.

Perhaps we should post "in the sewer" seeing as neither of us are members of Brew City.

whatchyoutalkinbout?

From the beginning the local BRAG group/club/agency/association/collection has been of the mind that all are welcome on rides. With that I believe all are welcome here as well. Of course certain rules apply, if you get squirrely on the street to an unreasonable degree you might be asked to separate yourself from the group, and if you get too gassey in the meeting you might be asked to do the same and seek a little distance.

I've posted this in other places but I know she went over her goals with Brew CITY (YOU GUYS)and one of them is a national event here and should be 1st or 2nd week of June. She also stated to maybe include AMA superbike races at Road Amaerica.

#1. Nobody from our club has said a damn thing about what the supposed proposals for next year are. All we keep getting is that bs about read the next fuell issue. I even asked what about those of us who dont get the mag?

#2. I know you have posted that something was up..but thats all thats been posted that I have seen.

Isnt the secretarys job supposed to be taking minutes of the meeting?

Bomber, not my job to take notes or minutes. As near as I can tell that is a job function for the secretary. Besides I dont make a whole lot of meetings due to my work schedule. Usually lucky if I can make 3 a year.

Bomber, et al...

Perhaps a matter of semantics is what is holding things up. Minutes is perhaps the wrong word, but a newsletter or email update or BWB report summarizing topics and events is a good thing. Both Jerry and Tom did a nice job this time on the BWB.

Originally (read: many months ago), when I got on this subject it prompted and informal survey I conducted concerning members that read the BWB vs Email vs Snail Mail. Additionally, I inquired why folks didn't make the meetings.

To summarize the findings: Work, family and church prevented many from attending meetings or participating in activities. A significant sampling did not have access to a computer on a regular basis again do to the three factors listed above. However, some had a Sig O check the BWB once in a while for updates. The conclusion was a printed newsletter sent snail mail would be the most effective communications organ followed by email and the BWB in that order.

Add $5.00 per year to the dues and you cover the cost of postage and paper for a one or two page letter style update. Envelopes extra, but they are cheap. The time to write the letter could be donated by virtually anyone in the group with decent writing skills and access to a computer/printer.

Why the effort? To generate more interest and participation. Bring fallen members back into the fold. Get new members. In essence, build a club. Is sort of pathetic but with six dealers (Hal's, House, Milwaukee, Suburban, West Bend and Hartford) we really have only one active BRAG Club in Milwaukee and that is Brew City.

There is one other thing that came out in the survey that was not directly addressed but visually apparent. BRAG Club members are twenty and thirty something's. My conclusion, right or wrong, is that the officer's of the local clubs should represent the demographics of the majority of members. John, we are the old farts. Folks like to play with us but nobody really wants to hang with their parental units. We didn't. Why should they.

I look at the dichotomy of BRAG as follows: BRAG National, Sponsoring Dealer, BRAG Club Officers and BRAG Club Members. Is top down concerning parameters with local activities and events hopefully geared to the specific interests of the members.

Uke's has done a good job of this in spite of the teasing. As I mentioned in a different post, they possibly bonded and formed a stronger club as a result of this teasing. Remember the old motto: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Well, they did an excellent job of bonding riding, racing, social and family activities which is the problem that faces all young groups.

A number of us over the hill types are empty nesters that love to sport ride and have always been more or less loners. Well, small select groups at best. We are comfortable with this for a lot of reasons. Sure, we can make clubs grow but at what cost. There were quite a few incidents this year that can never be justified. So, I say let the clubs find their own comfort level, visit and play with them when the opportunity arises, but keep our sport riding to ourselves. Works two ways. They may not like our pace and/or we may not care for theirs.

Bottom line is let the young build the type of club they want to participate in as they are the future of the sport and perhaps Buell.

Wow !!!

I may be wrong, but I think Jerry said there may be a National Brag event in Wisconsin, watch your Fuell because that's what WAS said in the meeting, they didn't get more detailed than that !

That's probably Peggy's job to get us pumped up into a "I can't wait to see what it is" mode, which Dyna I know you aren't going to be, it's not your nature.

I'm positive as soon as Fuell comes out somebody will post what it is, I know I will as soon as I see it !!

As for age, Jerry's a youngster and he will be leading BRAG, and Thomas is a youngster and I may be old, but I ain't gonna let that stop me from anything yet !!!

I do agree a newsletter would be cool, cause everyone doesn't get on Badweb and it's neat to have something in the mail to keep everyone informed, most every organization does that kind of thing !!

Uke's has been a good club for a long while, cause they are some cool folks !! BCB is a good club, but different, and different isn't a bad thing !!

CJ

The reason that no one has mentioned when the events are is that no one, Peggy included, knows when they will be. The dates are still being finalized. Between what Jerry and I put up in our synopsis is literally everything we know. With the exception of next years tentative ride schedule there was nothing else, it was mainly a planning session for next year but we didn't want to put anything in concrete when we have almost half a year until the next season really begins. By this weekend we should have the Brew City rides outlined for you all and if you have any specific questions feel free to shout at us, these old ears ain't what they useta be.

Guys and Gals...relax and you will enjoy. BRAG is in their best corporate posture looking to provide you (nation wide) with all the best they can every year.

Now take charge of your club and make it what you want it to be. Just be considerate of your fellow and prospective members so they can share in your excitement.

And that's an order from a wise guy!

Dyna . . .I was just pokin fun atcha . . .

I think the difficutly in putting togeher a "club" is two-fold . .. . 1, a much smaller owner base that most brands, and, 2, the fact that it's tough to get more than two people to agree on what they want from said club . . . .there have been musings on this topic wandering around, but little consensus, from what I've seen

seems like all available data has been shared, which is the purpose of meeting minutes and newsletters and such . . . . . unless I'm missing something, that goal has been met fully . . . the fact that the amount of available data is less than some (including me, curious as a cat, I am) would wish for is another matter altogether . . . anyone who has ever put together 1 fair sized event knows the difficulties associated with said job . . . trying to put together several, wading through corporate red-tape and tryin to satisfy an audience (many of whom seem pre-disposed to dissatisfaction) is a job I wouldn't take on a bet

two clubs I know of have mailed newsletters to members and Buell purchasers, to underwhelming response . . . it's a bigger job than many think (which is, of course, why I'll likely be allowed to produce to chapter newsletters next year . . .if it was easy, surely someone would have wrestled the gig away from me by now!)

I think I need coffee
