Hey... Just wanted to say 'Hey' and let yall know I"m still around... Just broke up with the g/f and dealing with the moving (her, not me) and hard feelings part... But the good part is I"m going to be able to ride, when I ain't working (or paddling,bicycling,hiking,camping,etc...) that is... I thought I saw in the paper an ad that said that LongHorn is carrying Buell again, anybody know anything about it???

Not sure about Longhorn? Maybe they are. I get them all confused. they should just be named after the street address and city, haha.

well, glad your back in the saddle but sorry about the hard times.
keep your eye posted on

I have seen more then one advertisement for Longhorn being a Buell dealer However the past three times I went to check it out it was found as False Advertising. I thought that since they moved to their new and much larger location they would once again carry Buells. I did get my First Buell and went to Riders Edge at that dealership so I had my fingers crossed. I still have not given up hope though. WE NEED MORE BUELL DEALERS! My Favorite thus far is the dealership in Austin (even though they do not have Buells at their NEW location). Second place is Corinth (Sorry Sean). I want to plan a ride to the Buell dealer in OK on RT66.

BTW....
Welcome back!

I will be going to this event again! It was some of the best Mnt riding I have ever done, with some of the best people I have ever met.
I will be riding there from Dallas on the Uly and will be camping at TWO in Suches, GA. If anyone wants to ride out there with me, I am all ears.

Follow the thread at the bottom of this page to get the details.

Is there a dealership in the DFW area that has a clue about Buells???

Is the "pie run" a Texas thing?

Since I moved here from Missouri it seems excitement is meeting Tuesdays and Fridays at some restaurant and having a meal then everyone going home, or posts of "pie runs". How boring???

No. Not since Buell dropped FW/HD.

Try these guys. http://www.mchooligans.com/

Never heard of the "pie run", but then I'm more into rides than rallies.

Also, the Inside Pass is coming to Eagle Canyon Raceway on Tuesday, September 23rd.

+1 on what Cowtown said, I have never heard of the "Pie Run's" either.

I ride with the M.C.Hooligans and they are a good bunch of guys.

I also try to ride every weekend I can, so if you need some one to go straighten some corners with give me a shout.

I saw the biggest whitetail buck I've ever seen this morning on Cahoba Dr. in Marion Sansom Park:
http://maps.yahoo.com/;_ylc=X3oDMTExNmIycG51BF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEc2VjA2ZwLWJ1 dHRvbgRzbGsDbGluaw--#mvt=m&lat=32.797462&lon=-97.4 17357&zoom=17&q1=5800%20Cahoba%20Dr.%2C%20Fort%20W orth%2C%20TX
It ran along the road in front of me for a few seconds before turning north up a straight-cut clearing in the woods, lazy deer. I easily saw 8 points, so it probably had another 2 - 4. As you can see from the map this deer lives surrounded by development. If anyone has a bow and want to take the risk this could be quite a trophy.

I realize I emphasized the rack on this buck, but this deer was huge, it could have easily taken me out and strolled away. It was about 7:45am. He's probably being feed by the residents.

Micah, how was the show??? I guess I'll just have to watch it on the tube tomorrow...
Had a friend over in Fort Worth ask about buying a new uly... Any suggestions on where locally would be the best, price, service, etc... Anybody got any favorite Buell salesman...
I started riding in a van pool a couple of months ago... Seems strange after riding the bike back and forth to work for the last few years... Although dozing in an air conditioned van ain't half bad... he he

Kevin,
Where have you been. Of all the old TNT gang, I would have pegged you for the one who kept ridding with the different groups, but to date. I haven't seen you at all man.

Long way down was as good as the first in my opinion. After Long way round, I think they got the hang of it, but that doesn't mean they could prepare themselves any better for the next journey.

No offense, but going to fort worth is like going to another country for me. So I stay out of it as much as possible and couldn't help a lick with your friends buying needs.

If this heat will over die down, I would love to put a ride together to run the pig trail and back. It would be an all day Saturday ride to the top of the trail, camp or hotel and then ride back on Sunday. I know you are very familiar with those roads and I would be ecstatic if you decided to participate. Think about it and let me know...

Micah, you put together a ride and I'll try my best to go... I've been working 7 days most weeks trying to pay a few bills down... Robert is putting his ride on Saturday morning to Hillsboro and back... It's going to start early to beat the heat... I did that route with them a couple of years ago and it's pretty good... If I"m not working I'll go... If anyone wants any more info just ask...
On another note, I was planning on getting a ST1300 last spring before I met Judy. I think I mentioned it to ya... Well, that's back in the plans for this fall or spring... I won't sell the Bolt but I would like to have a touring bike...

Can't make the ride 2morrow. Have to get a trailer so I can make ECR on Sunday.

If you stop by there around lunch time, they'll let you do a lap on the track.

Phil, How did you like Ridesmart? How does it compare to other trackdays?
Are there still patches on the track entering the corners where the braking form the cars tore it up?

Paul,
The Level 2 class was pretty good. The instructors were very proactive in policing the folks who needed to be moved to a different class. They were also proactive in ensuring they spent time with you on the track. Having said all of that, this was different than my previous experiences w/ Ridesmart.

I can compare it against last year's Inside Pass as being more structured. For some folks that's a good thing, for other folks that's not a good thing. Either way, it was $100 for a full day, so not a bad deal in my book.

It seems like EVERY turn has patches. The good news is that none of them caused any issues. In turns 6 & 11, there is no line to avoid them. Everywhere else, you can set up on the raceline & thread through them.

The long straight out of 6 heading into 7 is BUMPY. Stay to the right of the middle seam, turn in late and then HOLD the curb to set up for 8. Otherwise, didn't really notice any troubles with the surface. Seems like the owners have been working on it a LOT, plus fresh rubber was down from Saturday. I just wish they'd get rid of the armco barriers and work on improving the runoff.

Thanks Phil, good info. I took a couple of parade laps last month on the track and don't remember nearly every turn having patches. I hope it's not getting worse. Maybe at slower speeds they don't jump out at you. I signed up for the intermediate group this year, I thought with several long straights over 2,5 miles I'll be able to stay out of everybody's way.

I think the owners are trying to stay on top of it. They've been grinding the surface after the patches set, so that helps to reduce the oil seepage from the patches. I never noticed any "squirming" when I ran over them at speed, so I wouldn't worry about them.

I only see 1 weekend between now & Inside Pass on their schedule for their members, so the track should be in really good shape.

Probably the 1 place to really watch will be turn 5, since that's where the drainage carries a lot of dust/dirt onto the track.

See you there next month.

Forgot to mention. They DO have 93 octane available at the track. It cost me ~$5 per gallon. Bring your own gas.

Attention: Buelltoberfest is only 20 or so days away. I will be leaving out on Wednesday 10/1 in the morning riding to Suches, GA. I expect to stop over in Meridian, MS at the KOA and then make it into Two Wheels Only (Suches) by Thursday evening.

The gathering goes from 10/3 - 10/5. There will be the usual suspects C3,NEBO, etc...
There will also be a KTM demo truck on hand and a major Ducati round up going on that same weekend @ TWO.

If anyone wants to go, feel free to contact me by email or cell. I will be traveling by Uly so if you want to ride there with me, bring your gear for camping.
