Concerning the IMS, checking out the new bikes is always fun but I am always fascinated with the small vendors. Even more so this year with two bikes to play with and a riding partner.

the accessories and, as you say, "small vendors" are good fun . . . .. .

data point, if you get customer earplugs made at the show, bring your helmet . . . .BIG fit difference with/without the helmet

Interesting about the ear molds. Both pair I have were made without the helmet and both fit great. Causes me to wonder what they are doing different here?

Note: the important fit with the ear molds is how far into the ear canal they go and how tight the fit. Learned from experience that you want them as deep as possible and that you can trim them down with a razor blade if they are too far in and your navel begins to hurt.

My first pair just were not deep enough on one side and bugged the hell out of me. The second pair over compensated and I had to trim them. Work well, you betcha! Can hear voices relatively well, but only bike sounds are via the "BonePhone" (read: harmonics on your less than adequately padded butt).

Also do not recommend getting the ear molds with the cute little tether. That is the part that always pulls out and gives you fits with the helmet.

Lastly, they work great with firearms at both indoor and outdoor ranges. Used mine with all calibers including my .44 magnum and never flinched. Can also use them with the ear muffs if you really want to go silent.

Regardless what you do with the ear molds, just watch your balance until you get used to them as your ability to hear is directly connected!

Bill

let me amend my previous posting to read, "all those who are blessed with ears that lead people to ask if you're related to the British Royal Family should . . . . . ."

firing weapons without flinching? what's the fun in that?

Like I said, they must make them differently here. I know hundreds that have them and everyones ears are different. Never heard of bucket ears but saw a number of unique varieties over the years. Heck, my not-so-good ear has a canal that regular foam ear plugs fall out of unless I touch my sinuses with them and then I have to use a tool to get them back out. Ugh

Hmmmm...Will be interesting to see how it is done here as I am looking forward to getting another pair. How much do they charge for them. Mine were $35 a pair and ready in 30 minutes after the mold was made. Love them dearly and just want to get a back up set. Might even go with the ear buds this time. Used to use the Mega Blaster helmet speakers but understand the buds'n'molds are better.

Bads1...Just noticed you made a close guess on the preferred new scoot, but Bomber nailed it right on. Hope they come in Black again. Red attracts the Fuzz and Gray is the same color as the pavement, great for getting run over in the strangest places. LOL

No mods, just soft luggage. Love the stealth sound. The thing has no offensive personality. Heck, if I want to wake the dead and attract negative attention, I can aways take the Wide Glide.

Funny thing is the Glide is loud and the X1 mellow but the neighbors like the Glider cause it's a Harley. Duh...

Heal Spidey, Heal...Remember Son, the more you send the quicker you will Heal (or is that be relieved of all your hard earned cash?)

Some day when you are old enough I will tell you about the private session my wife had with Benny Hinn, old dog breath hisself, at his new mansion on the ocean in Laguna Niguel next to the Ritz Carlton. She's gone, he ain't. Too bad, she was a good person, not a flock fleecer like him.

The Minneapolis IMS show is March 26-28. Could be a potential SEWER meeting, especially for any Iowa folks since Minneapolis is closer than Chicago for them. Plus, riding season would be just around the corner.

The past few years the Minneapolis IMS has been in the middle of January. I didn't even go last year. It's depressing to go look at bikes and then walk outside to -10 degrees and a solid 2-3 months before you can even think about getting the bike out. March 26-28 is a much better time for a motorcyle show in Minneapolis!

Anyway, keep it in mind.

Spidey,
Russian or Chinese? Blade or pig sticker? I know of a Russian one with a WI owner wanting to sell. Not sure what the current prices are on these though. Haven't been to a gun show in a couple of years.

Spidey...Check out the upcoming gun shows at the Wisconsin State Fair Park here in West Allis, a Milwaukee 'burb, and schedule a trip this way. You can buy all kinds of toys for the SKS without ID. In fact, if it is a private party sale, you can even buy the whole enchilada.

Just make sure you drive and do not fly over! Heck, I will even drive you to the show just so nobody sees your out-of-state plates in the WSFP parking lot. I love rummaging around that stuff.

The website is www.wsfp.state.wi.us/

There are shows in West Bend and in Waukesha as well. The i.d. part is sometimes variable and may be getting additional scrutiny with the legislation currently undergoing debate.
And, just how exactly did Doyle become governor? He picks the wrong quarter against the special committee recommendations, and now this stuff. Maybe if we follow California's actions we could recall him and elect in one of the Packers instead.

MikeJ...Over the last 4 years, when the spirit moves me, I have been searching the web for info on what constitutes a concealed weapon in WI and can't seem to find a satisfactory answer. Guns are obvious but I am concerned about the law in reference to knives, batons, key flails, pepper spray, Mace, Delta Darts, martial arts gadgets, etc.

Can you direct me to a site where I can obtain this information? The reason the spirit is moving me again is I was reading in the recent articles about the Concealed Carry Bill that is currently bouncing around Madison that under present law, even a farmer in a rural locale carrying a Buck knife is guilty of carrying a concealed weapon.

As usual, ignorance of the law is no defense and as a result I want to know as much as possible in order to limit my exposure to potential arrest.

Hmmm...Wonder what the law says about by .45 caliber pen? Is truly a fine writing instrument but equally effective as a weapon. Then again, so is a #2 pencil or a neck tie. Never mind on this matter as I already know. Items commonly carried/possessed are not considered a weapon unless used as one. Chicago is a good example as virtually anything used to either attack or defend is considered a weapon of opportunity and can/will land you in deep yogurt.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

spidey -- careful who you show that piece to . . .it could result in, er, uh, unplanned reactions (SKS was very common among little brown brother 30-40 years ago)

Nev . . . .any of those show got much in the line of pocketknives? shows have dried up around here, and I wouldn't mind spending a morning wandering the aisles in WI
