I'll be at Buelltoberfest... along with my dad on his new 1125r, as well as some other guys with a mix of sportbikes and Harleys.

Hugh and Matt, I have yall's numbers so hopefully we can hook up there.

Tree- Well, technically you are a member of Badweatherbikers, but yea, anybody can come to Buelltoberfest. You can camp at T.W.O., rent a cabin nearby, or get a hotel room in Dahlonega or other nearby towns.

If someone needs a place to stay in Suches, it looks like I have space for a couple more in my cabin.

Those who are leaving on the 2nd, do you have a route planned yet? We are leaving on the 2nd and was curious as to whether our paths might cross somewhere....

Rc, we took I-20 west as far as highway 17 in Georgia. I've found it to be a tricky route; Dr_fudd came up with the route we used and it was easy to follow. Something like this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Augusta,+GA& daddr=33.998027,-82.825928+to:suches,+ga&hl=en&geo code=&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=9&via=1&sll=34.0867 87,-83.150024&sspn=1.253324,2.471924&ie=UTF8&ll=34 .089061,-83.023682&spn=2.506466,4.943848&z=8

I'm sure we could pick out a good place to meet near Aiken if you want to ride up with us.

Thanks for the route Hugh.
There are 3 in our group.
As we get closer to time, we might try to meet up.
Anyway we are going to be staying in Dahlonega and we can either ride along with yoos guys and turn off or go a different way. Will communicate that later.

Matt. That was not me in Ladson the other day. I wish it was. The only riding I have been doing is commuting. You know the riding that involves battling and dodging the cages.

Anyone know of the Firebolt with a red windscreen and the amber wheels? I see him roll through my neighborhood in Goose Creek occasionally but I can never stop him to find out who he is and introduce myself.

Eryc, it was a xb?s, think it was a 12, but not 100% sure. He seemed to recognize my bike as a buell. Yeah, the only riding i do at the moment is commuting too. Luckily i avoid 26. Thats madness.

We need to have a scbr ride at least once in suches. Last time didnt exactly work out.

I am totally down for a ride in Suches. Give me a call and we can get something figured out. Who all is staying with you?

As far as that bike goes I do not know if it was an r or an s. All I know is it had a red windscreen and the amber wheels. I am pretty sure it was an r though. I think I would have noticed if it were an s with an r fairing.

So what began a nice day turned pretty cruddy. First I lost one of my gloves somewhere at school... it has yet to show up.

At the end of the day, after class, I walked out to my bike and got on... something was not right. I reached to pull the clutch lever in and it was bent all the way to the grip. OH CRAP!! Someone backed into my bike. I hopped of the bike and began the inspection. Clutch lever bent and scratched, left grip ripped, bar end marred, kickstand scratched up, and toe peg marred up. Not a whole lot of damage... but then it hit me. There was no note. I began to look around and noticed one of the security cameras from the school was trained on the area the bike was hit. Talked to the police, which were more than helpful, and they said they would investigate for me. After speaking with the police, the receptionist of the school calls me and tells me she just found a note with the perp's number. So hopefully I can get all of that figured out. The officer told me to make sure I get everything settled with the perp and if I had any problems he would step in. What a relief. Couldn't get any worse.

WRONG.

After putting the mojo on the clutch lever, I was finally able to get it straightened out enough to get the clutch fully disengaged. So I get on the bike and head on my merry way back to Goose Creek. I hit the usual 4:00 rush hour traffic, which is to be expected. After passing the 526 bottleneck, I get stuck behind granny in the fast lane who thinks it is a good idea to ride 10 under whilst traffic ahead of her continues to leave her behind. Meanwhile I have cars all behind me ticked and tailgating. So I flash my passing lights at her about 3 times... nothing. So I resort to plan B, honking the horn. BAD IDEA. For some odd reason when I hit the horn switch the entire electronics system of the bike decides to retire. So here I am coasting down I-26 in rush hour traffic with no ignition, no headlights, no brake lights, not turn signals. I cannot let off of the clutch lever or the bike will engine brake. So I do a 180 with my head until I can see the guy behind me has eye contact with me. Once I have his attention, I let my left hand off the clutch lever and I motion to him with my hand that I am about to slow down and pull over into the median. He backs off in recognition and provides me room to decelerate and pull off the road. THANK GOD. In the median I pull my seat off to inspect the fuses... the 15 amp ignition fuse is blown. After I discover this two paramedics pull in behind me to offer some protection from traffic. One gets out of the ambulance and tries to lend a hand. I do some fuse swapping until I can finally get the bike to start again. I get it running and head back on my not-so-merry way to Goose Creek.

THANK GOD I got home safely and thank God for people that are willing to help like the paramedics and the officer at the law school.

Man what a crummy afternoon for you man. Hopefully those days are few and far between for anyone. Glad to see you were able to handle things safely and get home in one piece. You are right, its a blessing to have had people around you that were willing to help you out. Except for granny which caused the mess with your bike dying out electronically. At least one ?good? thing came out of it... she helped you discover an electrical problem with those switches that you may have found later at a worse time than this was. Granted I dont know what the damage to the switches was like visibly which you may have been going to replace them anyway.

Like you said THANK GOD you made it home safely!!!

Now get that thing fixed, you have TWO WEEKS!!!

Also hopefully the perp will get you all set for the damages, that is if it even worth it to try. You would know!

Man, days like this are torture. The Uly's sold and I have the $$$, but it's still parked in the garage until the buyer can pick it up on Oct 7th. The $$$ is burning a hole in my pocket. It was all I could do to keep from buying the almost new Husky 610SM sitting in the lot at LA Cycle.

I'm around, barely. Work is keeping me busy, boss is out so everything is up to me, and I'm taking care of some high level projects because head quarters lab is backed up. Decidedly I'm not going to suches, I'll be out of town that weekend on business.

Eryc, glad your day was no worse than it was (and man, it could have been worse!). Given the way most people are lately, it seems like a miracle the person left a note for you.

Jim- I'm sure the new owner would never notice an extra ~1000 miles on the Uly!
You still Jonesing for the Beemer or have you not made up your mind?

Nick- It's good to see you're still around. Sorry you can't make it to Buelltoberfest.

Hi Hugh, did you make the trip up north? If so, how'd the Uly do?

I'm sure the new owner would never notice an extra ~1000 miles on the Uly!

Unfortunately, I sent him the title with the bike's actual mileage. It's not just the miles. I'd be riding like a grandma with a death grip on the handlebars, scared that I wreck it.

still Jonesing for the Beemer?

I wouldn't mind a 800GS without ABS, but haven't been able to find one. I may end up with a Wee-Strom.

Jim- No, I ended up driving. I had to be back in town this afternoon; if I'd had an additional day to kill it would have been perfect. I would have come back via Skyline Drive and the BRP. Since I couldn't do that, I just drove (~1000 miles of I-95 slab is NOT my idea of fun on a motorcycle).

I saw one Buell up there (at Ft. Belvoir, VA), a nice looking silver S3T.

Who was on 526 yesterday @ 5 pm getting onto 26 headed West? It looked like you were riding with another bike, possibly a Harley.

I saw a near-new white XB12R with blue trim and wheels on Bacons Bridge Road near Summerville this afternoon about 4 PM; I believe the guy riding was in Air Force camo. Anybody here know him? Sharp looking bike.
