Lynn and I decided we needed to go camping and thought since the Four Corners Run was going on we would head down to Ignacio, CO to check it out. On the way South we hooked up with Jody on his Buell Blast in Canon City and little did I know that this would be the only other Buell I would see all weekend.

We stopped in Salida and started heading South on Hwy 285, Jody assured us there was a gas station in a town he did not know the name of. Well with Jody pushing that Blast to the limit through Poncha Pass we finally made it to Saguache, CO and Jody coasted into the gas station on fumes and was able to fill up and head back to Canon City. I hope you got gas in Salida and made it home ok Jody.

Well the weather was so so. We hit rain in South Fork Colorado which I did not mind but I knew we had to get over Wolf Creek Pass.

This is one of those passes that you can never tell about until you get on it. Here is the weather heading into the pass

and this is what it looked like on the other side.

I could not believe how lucky we were with the weather. That would change.

Well I do not have any pictures of the rally mainly because I did not feel like trying to keep the camera dry as it rained off and on for the next two days. More on than off. If you think the pictures of the campsite looks sparse it is because we were on the edge of the campsite but in actuality it was not filled up at all. There was plenty of room because everyone left or got a Hotel because when it rained the campsite entrance turned to a mud pit. We ate, drank, slept and talked to some great folks camping next to us. We had a great time, I did not spend a lot of money and I got to put about 900 miles on the S2T.

Of the people we talked to only one person knew what the S2T was and actually started talking to me about it. He was riding a Shovelhead. We talked a lot about Shovels, getting parts and working on bikes. One nice couple we meet from Utah on our way home thought the S2T was a BMW until I started her up. I get that a lot and can only figure the Quick Silver color throws them off.

The trip was good, we got soaked and I had to ride the bikes through a mud pit to get out of the campsite but made it ok. Not everyone made it out. This guy got his bike caked in mud and was doing burn outs on the street to get rid of the mud and lost control. He is OK from what I heard.

I doubt any Uly could have done better. As always the S2T performed like a champ. It really likes to run around 4K rpm. When it got a little warm and the exhaust got uncomfortable I would just shift up a gear and no more heat which is just one more thing I like about the S2T compared to the Uly. I thought I was going to buy a Uly but think I will wait for another Sport Touring Buell like the S2 or S3 with the 1125 motor.

On the way back we stopped at our favorite little diner on Hwy 50 in Texas Creek.

The trip home started at 55 degrees and stayed constant until we got over Wolf Creek Pass when it warmed up to 65. By the time we got home we were way too hot in our gear but the ride was great. The deep bags stayed on and closed with no problems. If they felt the need to pop open there was a bungee holding them together as well as to the bike pulling double duty to hold our gear. Now I need to hose off the mud and clean our camping gear up.

Nice pictures and thorough report Frank! I learned my lesson and did gas up before the 100 mile mark. I enjoyed riding with you and Lynn and hope we can cover some more miles soon. Maybe Steamboat Springs I can meet up with you guys on my XB9.

Did you already get the XB9?

I am not sure if we are going to Steamboat. It depends if I can get out of a VFW event on the 20th and the weather. I had enough of riding in the rain... Frank

Not yet, I'm driving up to Brighton tomorrow morning to meet the guy and pick up the bike. I should be back in the afternoon.
