Thanks for the input. Keep it coming. I have been printing the appropriate posts to forward to the officers of Brew City so they have some idea of what the membership, well at least some of us, think.

The reason I say "some of us" is that if you go back through the archives on this thread, you will note that only a few of us post regularly and that most of those posts are during "office hours." Evening and weekend postings are slim to none.

Give that some thought as it just might give you some insight on the demographics of a Southeast Wisconsin Bueller. Will post more later, but believe it or not...I have to go to work (sorta).

Joe....Sorry to hear you'll have to let the kids move to Memphis. While you and your wife may not agree, kids should have both parents close and available.

As for your move to GB, give me a shout when you get into town. There aren't enough fellow Buell riders around here!

I will absolutely do that. I am starting life over, and Every new friend is good for me. Especially after some recent events. I was forced to visit some people for 3 or 4 days. And All I had to do was think. I am going to build the kids a new computer and put a video camera on it and mine so I can video conference with them, so at least I can see them all the time. That idea helped me to get out, and move on besides, for a while I won't have to pay rent and in time and saving money I will be going after her with a vengeance she has never seen. Ha!. I noticed in your profile mention an NFL thing. My new home will be right off of Lombardi and oneida streets. When we watch the games at my moms house, you don't have to be watching to know when a touchdown occurs the whole house shakes.

Joe...Sorry to learn of the move for your children. I know how stressful it is for you, but there is virtually nothing you could have done to prevent it. Have seen so many Dad's get hurt this way. In fact, if you check the Internet and Local Newspapers, I know you will find a group of guys in the same boat. Is a good vehicle for learning the law and getting over the trauma as well as finding positive ways of dealing with the situation.

When you get to Green Bay, you must look up Dennis. He is a great person, former director of Brew City, very positive minded and an excellent rider. Hopefully, the Packers will move to Milwaukee so we can have him back! LOL

As far as rides here, stay tuned to the Brew City, Uke's and SEWER threads. Will put you on the email list for SEWER and any other local rides we do.

Joe...If you really want to mess with Dennis, lead him through the tight twisties and trail brake. Bomber and I do it to him all the time and the brake lights absolutely freak(ed?) him out! LMAO

Lake is right...That is why I always let him lead. Then again, he never understood the concept.

Bomber don't sweat it. We will know instinctively when the opportunity arises. Age, treachery and the related experience (taught to us by folks now gone) is a wonderful thing when it comes time to run with the bullet proof. LOL

This will be my last time posting till November. I got the wedding on Saturday and we will be in Florida all next week on our Honeymoon.

As far as our discussion about the club. Here is what I would like to see.

1. Other members interested in taking part of making the club grow. Possibley an enrollment officer. Someone in charge of growing the membership.

2. Tech days as a social event

3. rides on different days throughout the year

4. discount and equal recognition from Hal's

5. Club T-shirt available

That would be a good start.

See you all later.... :)

The equal recognition would probably have to come as a merger with the KettleMoraineHOG Chapter and becoming a subset of their group, sort of like the DryRiders only BuellRiders (there's probably more to that analogy than is apparent on first reading).

A Membership Coordinator would probably be a good thing. Single point of contact for new and existing members to check status and get info from. Ensure that the receptionist up front has data and forms to fill out for prospective members.

Along those lines, how about coming up with a welcome sheet with a listing of known upcoming rides, meeting times, contact info of club officers, dues requirements and dues due dates, and so forth. Have a dozen or so of these up front at the desk as well. Several times I've asked for info and it immediately becomes a guessing game for the Hal's staff.

Communications is key to any well run organization, and open welcome participation from all members should be encouraged as well. (I'll drop that point at this point.)

Oh well, gotta go,
bye.

I agree that BCB needs a lot of work, it's not been the same since Dennis and Rick left. And I agree with a lot of points that everyone else suggested, now we just need to begin to implement some of those !!

1. A leader that has the time, enthusiasm and desire to devote the time and effort necessary to the club as well as be a liason with Hal's, I think we've lost connection with Hal's.

2. Which leads to being recognized by the dealership again.

3. Membership needs to be actively promoted by the current members, not everyone will participate in every thing so more members are needed to keep a decent amount active all the time and minimize burden put on too few members sometimes.

Yep that involves work for us, but all of Koz's suggestions regarding that matter were good, two wheel tuesday, flyers, being a presence everywhere, being at the Hog meetings as a sub-culture, participating in battletraxes, spreading the enthusiasm around and I know that can be done !!

4. Rides that are accesible to everyone, not just the Sunday morning routine rides, evening rides, Saturdays, etc. Again that means you need more members for a decent amount to participate. And I agree about meeting for them at Hal's, so Buell's can begin to be perceived as having a presence.

5. Absolutely tech days to help rider learn more about wrenching their own bikes, what I could learn !!

6. Sufficient advertising to ALL Buell owners of ALL events. And yes that would include getting more pictures of members and events and putting them in a newsletter or posting them at Hal's, put faces to Buell riders for all to see.

7. Which leads to club T-shirts, patches etc.

8. And I totally agree with Koz that The thing is you have to offer the members a reason to be part of the club. You can ride without being in a club, it's all the other stuff that makes people join and be active in a good club. Cool T-shirts, fun social events, and bike knowledge support is all required to keep people interested.

9. Last I think we should all always be allowed to pick on Dyna

Bottom line is it's work, and it has to be fun and enjoyable and we have to want to do all those things, or hopefully get other members involved who do if we don't !!!!

CJ XB (Just my 8 cents worth!)

Good feedback from the regular Brew City posters.

Any suggestions from the Lurker's, regardless of location, that have something positive to contribute?

Well everyone has brought up some good ideas. As one of the "oldest" members of Brew City BRAG I can say that almost all of these ideas have been brought up in the past over the last 3 years. Some have been tried others have not. Most of it comes down to member participation. I personally took it upon myself to do some fundraising at Battletrax last year (2002) and did manage to make a little revenue for the club. It's tough to do.

It can be very easy to say you what you want and how you want to do this and that when your just talking. Heck, we all know that. It's taking those ideas and making them happen that is the hard part. Can changes be made? That's a big "Hell Ya". Is it as bad as what people perceive it to be. In my opinion, no. Better communication is a must! Thats something we all want.
As far as being a presence "Everywhere", I'll just ask who can make that type of commitment? I talk up the club whenever I can to anyone I see riding a Buell, or to just about anybody at Two Wheel Tuesdays, etc when I can. It might help to print up some "business" cards with the Brew City logo and info. to pass out to fellow riders. That way anyone can be a presence no matter what function you are at.

These kinds of things need to be brought up in a meeting and discussed, not just spoken or typed. Yes there are some who can't make all the meetings, but your ideas can be brought up as well. There are a lot of meetings where we may bring up things but they aren't really discussed and planned out. This is where member participation/commitment comes to play. It's also something we need to work on.

I'm not one to type to much on this type of thing, I'd rather discuss it together.

Jerry

Blastin has some good thought and ideas too !!!

Ideas are good, but the hard part is doing it, not just talking about it !

A club is only as good as it's members, and it does come down to member participation ! It's not as bad as we think, but we do I think need more participation and more active members !

Raising money is hard, very hard !!

Communication is key, between members and dealer too !!

As far as presence, that would take more members and everyone doing their share at what they like, some would attend TWT, some would attend HOG events (I'd be interested in that myself), but it takes many members with varied interests and a few active members could not accomplish this alone !!

Business cards are an AWESOME idea, but you gotta have some fundraisers to raise money for those kinds of things !??

Talking is good, but sometimes writing down your thoughts make you do it in an orderly and thought out fashion, even Rick at his meetings had his agenda written out that he followed and tried to keep to. Sometimes talk leads to rambling and not much decision making, too many opinions and no solutions, so Both talk and writing can be a good thing.

Nice thing is the members of BCB are really neat people and that's a Plus !!

Yep, that has to be it. Can't think of another reason for her mystery appearance. LOL

Ok, If Peggy Sue doesn't have an agenda...Do we? Whoops, forgot about elections, next years events, suggestions for a better club, yadda...yadda...yadda...

Just a suggestion, but someone may want to send an email to the membership about Peggy Sue's visit and the agenda soon an then follow up with a few reminder emails. Just to let folks know what is going on well enough in advance so they can plan accordingly.

My only point here is to see if anyone responds to this comment as obviously we don't all read/participate on the BWB.
