Anybody know of any events late September / early October? Looking forward to getting out and doing some riding/etc after I get back to Maryland. Internet access here is not too good and I can't get to most of the sites I usually check?

I'm also going to be in the market for some new riding gear and I'd appreciate any referrals to shops that might have some warmer weather gear in stock.

Don

Buell demo fleet at the HD-Store in Baltimore Oct. 4th is the last I heard from Chick the lead salesman up there. He asked me if I could work that day. Then I got with Erik to see if we could get the 7 sisters demo route back in. It has to be all right hand turns, I guess from road to road. I suggested one with 147 in it with one left and the rest right hand turns. I haven't heard anything yet. K

Dan,
I shop for gear at Bob's BMW. They have top of the line Vansen leathers. Synthetic First gear, and Olympia gear there. They do welcome other MC brand riders and are very knowledgable when it comes to the gear. Olympia is excellant cold weather gear it is water proof as well. K

Thanks K
I've actually been to Bob's and bought some Gerbing's socks (my favorite HD/Buell store didn't have any)to go with the gloves, jacket liner and pants liner I already had. I'll have to stop back there and check it out. Hopefully I'll have a little extra $ soon

I had a fairly high-speed get-off back in September and ended up with a broken elbow and a banged up knee. Maryland State Police did find the truck that lost all the diesel fuel I wiped out on and I have a legal case pending - but I needed a final release from my doc and I didn't have time to get it before I deployed. Not looking to get rich but hopefully it'll cover my out of pocket expenses and some replacement gear for the stuff that got scuffed up.

Still planning on taking the Total Control course in Frederick on Oct 4 but I emailed tracy martin about it and haven't gotten a reply. It's impossible for me to FAX from here and the registration instructions require you to fax the form and call for confirmation. Hopefully the courses will still be open when I get back mid-late September.

Don maybe I can help you out with getting in touch with Tracy Martin. He teaches at the same school I teach at, I might be able to pull some strings for you. I wear the Gerbings full jacket liner under an Olympia touring jacket, and I have the Gerbing gloves too with dual thermostat. I'm warmer riding into work than walking from my bike to the bldg
Hope you had recovered well. Wondered if you liked or got a chuckle out of the Buell Blast crash story. K

Hey K, what kind of mods did you have to do to hook up the heat gear? I'm thinkin of getting some myself. I was wondering if I would have to upgrade the electrics.

Hi Jack,
On all 3 Buells I didn't need any mods. On the ULY though, the fan runs funny, the fan speed goes up and down, I told the HD store service guys and they didn't seem to think anything of it. The gear has the same type of hook up the trickle charger has. The other 2 Buells run fine with the heated gear, the ULY does too. You have your Rider Coach MSF card you can get a discount from Gerbings. I forget how much it is I think I saved at least $100.00. I've had my gear now for about 3 years and I love it. I have the full jacket liner, gloves, with the dual thermostat to control each piece independant. I wear the tour master road solution boots water proof as well as warm, and for the legs the Olympia over pants are the best. They come with a liner that's actually too hot to wear, the pants are water proof as well. Olympia gives MSF instructors a discount as well, BOB's BMW will honor both if you buy the gear from his store. K

Ha ha ha you're funny
Bobby I wear the leather too with layers underneath but the synthetics are lighter, more flexable. Winter sucks I hate getting dressed for work in the house then getting dressed again so I don't freeze my tail off! I wear my leather more in the summer than in the winter. K

Don, here is a cut and paste from my Boss who runs the rider school at Howard CC.
Tell him to register online for a Columbia class at our site: http://riderschool.org. It's not likely that he's going to be able to get anything going with FCC.

All registered for the 10-18-08 course. Turns out this is even closer to my home than FCC.

Certainly something to look forward to!
