Computer back in operation, new video card, updated software, virus protection, sound card, better memory, some software glitches chased down and dang, this thing is almost as fast as Shazam on Metcalf.

So anyway, does Central HD do a good job on tire sales/installation? I want to get away from Dunlops and go to Michelin Pilots or Pirelli, something with better life span than the D207's
to have installed this winter when riding conditions are not good and I can get some maintenance things done.

Rusty,
I got fewer miles out of the pilots than the dunlops. Most of the guys here saw the pilot on the front of my X1 in the Ozarks lastyear, not a pretty sight. Hated that tire. Currently running D207's on the front and D205's on the rear. Best combo that I have found for of grip and life span.

Rusty, the reason the D207 has a short life is because it is a somewhat soft compound tire so it grips the road better. If you buy a tire of comparable grip in the corners it will have close to the same life. I have never had a tire done at Centeral but they are great people, I have bought several tires at Cyclops Cycles on Merriun Drive and they have given me the best price of anyone around and they have always done a great job mounting and ballacing for me and they will do it on or off of the bike althought off the bike saves you some money. They are more than familure with Buells and like them alot so there is no worry about them working on it.

Sam,
Hey I need an address for you. Also, have you gotten your wheels back yet? If so how did they turn out? I am thinking about doing mine black(over all the ruff texture) then a small blue pin stripe on the outside kind of blending into the polished outers. I am also trying to find the cross reference on the levers, I want to go black on them as well, maybe just powder them.

Ben

>>>curvy Platte county road blowing the autumn leaves off the curves

Shhhhhhh...next thing you know hte entire world will know my Buell test route, about the food in Tonganoxie, BBQ in Williamsburg and Sunday buffets in Council Grove. I intentionally took visitors out Highway 4, up 177 and accross K-18 through Zeandale to Manhattan for lunch JUST to keep them from my Lake Perry to the McCormack Vineyears test route!

You could be fined patches you know....

Thinking about doing something a little different this winter to the X1. What do you guys think. powdercoat the tailpiece but leave some sort of design polished on it. Also thinking about doing something of this nature to the swingarm, linkage, etc. . . basically blacking out the whole bike but leaving some subtle polished emblems.

concept-1

What do you guys think?

Keith

Yes, I'm a person of true disctinction.

When I get back from my planned trip out west, we'll certainly have to make that a point.

Well all, I just got back from Las Vegas.....need sleep! 3 days and no jail...unbelievable! I hope the meeting went alright last night, any newbies show?

Ben, I will E-mail you the info, and as soon as I remember to bring it to work I will ship your helmet to you. the wheels turned out dynamite all white. will not have any problem cleaning these any longer, I will put up pictures later.

Rusty, go with a dunlop 205 or 220 you will get unbelievable mileage out of either, your riding style doesn't warrant anything softer or the added expense. you should see 8-10,000 miles out of either of these and unless you're doing track days the grip difference is negligible, other brands will have comparable tires, these are two that I have ridden without complaint. as f0or the service....Harley shops are not exactly reknown for selling or installing tires cheaply. That said, if you want someone familiar with buells working on your scooter be prepared to pay accordingly. however tire swaps on an X1 are a very straight forward ordeal, any shop can mount and balance a set for you. I would suggest calling around and checking prices. decide whether or not you are going to pull your own wheels or want someone else to take them off. If you are taking the wheels off I would suggest just having whomever you buy the tires from mount them as well....probably the best deal to be had.

Here's what I do: I want to buy tires cheap and have them expertly(with care not to scratch, and carefully balanced) installed. (I have no affiliation with either of these shops nor bad to say with regards to any others, except worth north, who put what looks like a sawzall to my PM's) I buy tires a Freedom Cycle on 71 hwy. They usually have the lowest price in town due to the volume of tires they sell....about 5 or 10 bucks over mailorder.....then I haul the rims over to Cyclops in Merriam for mount and balance work. usually about $10-15 per.

my $0.02

I coulda swore that at the last BRAG meeting I was hearing Sam purring. I thought it was all that beer he was swilling... and a guttural sound he would make when that cute little waitress would come in the room...

or the fact he was without a running bike... and it was a low moan I was hearing... NOW I UNDERSTAND!!!

I bet the white powder coated wheels would look great with a custom black & white tiger stripe paint job on his XB12NR

TOO SWEET!!!!!!

Neill...

as far as your comment about Sam the Ozark Prom Queen... all that I can say is...

BOY-HOWDY!!!!! (banjos playing in the background)

In response to the Sunday ride... that is a forsure maybe from me... my fiancee went to Iowa to pick up her teenaged daughter for a weeks visit... I know they will need some "girl time" and I will need to escape from the "girl time"!! ...and I am caught up on the house... it is about as set up after the move as it will ever be!!! I think it would be a can-do.

third... did I remember you say that once I was in the house... you would get me a house warming gift of a Sony tv for the kitchen??? ...or was I just hearing voices in my head again???
