People moving, changing, whatnot, wherenot, oh well, the year is coming to an end, wonder what the new year holds in store, hopefully a better beginning than this year's ending. I think I'll change the oil in the bikes this weekend just for grins, might go full synthetic and risk the rath of leakage - that stuff is slipperier I heard.

Hi Mike,

Merry Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.

Slipperier (your word) Si! However, I have yet to experience any leaks in any of my bikes using synthetics and that goes back to when I first discovered Bel-Ray in the mid 1980's.

Both my X1 (back to Golden Spectro) and Wide Glide (Purple Something or Other) are on the stuff and they told me they love it. Also notice less puking since I started feeding it to them. Go Figure?

Yet, as you always say...YMMV

I'm still kicking the idea around of doing the XB rocker cover swap on one or both bikes, that and finagling a cruiser swap for one of them.

Anyway, Merry (enter personal word/name choice here) to you and your's as well.

Suburban is supposed to be having their year end clearance sale again with those $10 jeans like last year. Might wander down there sometime in the next week or so just to looksee a bit. I've given up on ever working a bike deal with them. Maybe their synthetic lubes are on sale.

Anyways, got some bicycles to hang up this weekend to make room for motorcycle wrenching.

Thanks for the input.

Mike...New a fellow here in the early 70's. He owned a couple of Schwinn shops. Think his name was Fred Doherty or something like that. Any idea if he is still in business and where?

Sounds kind of familiar. I can ask at the shop next time I'm in there. If anyone knows for certain it would be someone down at Ben's. The last wholly-Schwinn shop I knew of locally was out in Oconomowoc and it closed up a few years ago.

Mike...A Million Thanks!!!

His first shop was in Bayview. Then he became a two store chain when he bought the Schwinn Dealership in Greenfield. Looks like he is back to only one operation.

Is a great guy if you haven't met him. I wonder if he is still riding his Big Wheel in the local parades. Sure looked good in his late 1800's bicycle duds. Then, that was over 30 years ago. LMAO

Our paths crossed when I was an Army Recruiter. We were both assigned to the same unit here. Can't wait to stop by and catch up on what happened to everyone.

Now that I have decided to stay in Wisconsin one of my goals is to find as many old friends that I can and Fred should be a valuable source of information.

Thanks again!

No problem, and if he happens to mention that he might need a little part time (or full time) help around the shop then let me know.

In any case I'm glad to have helped.

I want one of these some day

OK, it's a done deal!
Since Edge Performance Riding Courses is no longer doing track days I had to find a new track day organization to pimp for.
I am now working with Leon at Private Track Time.

Dates for this coming summer are as follows,
May 25th Blackhawk Farms

June 23rd Autobahn, Joliet IL http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/

July 2-3rd Blackhawk (this is for you that whine about them always being during the week!)

July 27th Blackhawk

Sept 8th Autobahn

Cost is $150.00 per day

You can check out details at www.privatetracktime.com

Please register thru me! I have committed to signing up at least 8 riders per track day so help me out.

Start making plans now!
Do not put this off until the last one of the summer, you will be bummed you can't do more.

If you have questions feel free to call or email me.

or

PS, Leon rides a Buell!

I talked to someone at the factory today and he informed me that there will be Buells racing at Road America on April 23rd and 24th!
The 23rd looks like a CCS day
The 24th will be Formula USA.
I don't know if I will be able to make it(depends on Kandie's schedule) but wanted to let everyone know about it.
Go cheer the Buells on!

Recap of last minute, short notice, multi BRAG club officers meeting.
Well we had 8 people there so not a bad turn out given the short notice.
We decided that the second Sunday of every month, starting in May is a gathering at the Hamburger Haus in Dundee.
It is, I have been told, already a bike hangout and is right in the middle of the good roads in the Kettle.
By doing this we should have a good number of Buell congregating without having to have big group rides. All groups will ride their own route to Dundee and back home. Think mini Rock Store atmosphere. Riders that don't care to ride in a group at all can just ride to Dundee.
Meeting time will be 1:00 PM or there abouts.
This will also take pressure off club officers as to planning things to do. Those riders that can make it, make it, those that can't, come the next month.
It will also make it easy to remember for club members.

Other stuff
April 30th Erik and the Thunderbolts at Lakeshore HD/Buell
May 14th Open House HD/Buell of Appleton

Aug 6th River run to Dubuque, Lakeshore HD/Buell

July 23rd Stunt Fest at Union Grove
Sept 17-18th Ride around Lake Michigan

Thanks to Steve for lighting a fire under this project!

I meant to say that the May ride will be the third Sunday of May. Then after that they will be the 2nd Sunday.

Ride to Dundee this Sunday

Might be the only one I make all summer.
Kandie and Bobbie are coming up to spend the weekend. Comp. Todd is going with us too.
We'll be there at 1pm.
I haven't heard back yet from other Appleton members.

Who else can make it?
The weather is supposed to be great!
Please reply to the thread in the quick board
