Hey guys, going to homecoming; anyone have any tips on the best route through Chicago from the east? We'll be coming in on the Indiana tollroad (80/90 Westbound)

I'm thinking 80/294/to 94N, but I have no idea of any construction. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks.

Be traveling through Wednesday between noon and 2pm.

TIA

Xb9 - 80/294/94 is a good choice. 94 on the north side of Chicago (where it splits off from 90)is a nightmare of construction, by taking 294 around the city you'll avoid most of the bad stuff. Also: you may want to check in with Brinnutz a few posts up. He (Wilson) and Brett are riding up from Indiana and it looks like they will be passing through Chicago the same time you are.

Viperman- When are you planning on heading up there?

Johnny, Just read XB9's post.

We are coming through Chicago tomorrow morning, probably around 9-10am your time now.

Got some things taken care of that we're going to be needed to be done on Tuesday, but got them done sooner. So, leaving at 8am our time!

Homecomming hang up.
It seems as if we will be required to register in Brookfield, WI at the host hotel before we are allowed access the factory events in East Troy. This contradicts every previous Homecomming event in years past. Thanks for the heads up Ron. I surely wouldn't have expected it.
Here is the e-mail from the coordinator.
"Paul - you must go to event registration at the host hotel either Wed afternoon or Thurs morning to pick up your event ticket package (which includes access to east troy). Please reference the directions on your confirmation e-mail again. They include reg times. Details are also still posted on buell.com."

Due to volume, we are NOT fulfilling packages at East Troy this year.

See you in a few days.

I would suspect that we will need to change the timming and route.
Brookfield is just west of Milwaukee, but as most of you know traffic and ongoing construction on the TRI State tollway will be bad in the morning. Anyone up for an earlier departure and different route? I'll start my map program now and see what I can come up with.

New time and route.
8am O'hare oasis on the Tri State Tollway northboud at the gas station. Two hours to Brookfield from there. See you then.

Hi Paul – yes, event registration is at the Host Hotel. It is there that you will need to sign all event release waivers and pick up your ticket package which includes your event T-shirt, patch, event guide and all of your access tickets/wristbands for the various activities, including the necessary wristband for East Troy (which will get you on property, into the seminars, factory tour and includes the free lunch.)

Due to the volume of attendees this year, we are not registering people onsite at East Troy.

This information and instructions have been posted on buell.com since the start and this was also specified during the online registration process as well as each person’s confirmation e-mail. The process is different than last year, but this event is different than past Homecoming events. The 25th Anniversary Event is open to all Buell enthusiasts, not just owners and has a much larger attendance than in years previous. Additionally, as I’m sure you can understand, in order for us to manage the volume of this event and ensure its success; we needed to plan ahead and account for the various tickets and meal planning needs in advance.

The host hotel is roughly 20 minutes away from East Troy and there is a group ride from the Host Hotel on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. to East Troy. Note - the activities at East Troy do not open until Noon. I’ve attached the agenda for your reference. It is also available at http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/25th-anniversary/event-schedule.asp.

Note: if you show up at East Troy without the appropriate wristband or for those who chose not to register at all, please understand that you may only be able to participate in limited activities, as we need to accommodate those who have paid to attend. Additionally will be asking for a minimum $10 CASH donation of which we’ll be donating to the East Troy food panty, but we have a limited number of open slots for those who just plan to ‘show up’.

It would be great if you could help spread the word to any others. Thanks for your understanding and ensuring we all are able to enjoy the celebration!

Kind regards,

Laura

Hi All,
Welcome home, club members! Wish I could have been there for homecoming however work and previous engagements made it impossible for me to make it. However, I heard it was an awesome time. Finally, I have service scheduled at IL Harley for clutch repair so I'll be back on the road soon ready for MotoGP at Indy. If any of you missed or couldn't make my official debut in team demo there is a recap video on the team demo website; www.teamdemos.com. I'm in the race between Damage Inc. (yellow cars) vs. Beyond Driven (red). There is a good shot of myself being driven into the front stretch retaining wall where my axle snapped. I'll talk to you all at the meeting.

I also want to thank Buell for a FABULOUS 25th Anniversary event. I thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of the Windy City Club members who attended and all the other Buellers I had the pleasure to meet. If you did not make the 25th, I strongly encourage you to join us for the 26th.

Marc's favorite activity: Blackhawk farms track day where I had the pleasure of demo riding the 1125R during four sessions on the racetrack. What a fabulous machine! I hit 123 MPH in the straightaway and cornered like never before.

notable event: Windy City Club chat with Erik Buell who just happened to show up at Speedy and Greg's paddock location at Road America Raceway.

This Thursday (July 17th)I'm leading a ride to the drag strip in Union Grove Wisconsin (weather permitting). I'll be leaving at 7:30 from Eckhart park in Chicago:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Chicago&state=IL &address=1330+W.+Chicago

I'm playing softball there from 6:15 to 7:15 and want to leave right after. We'll get to Union Grove around 8:45 or so and get in 5 or 6 runs before they close at 11:00. $25 to race $12 to get in and watch.

All are welcome.

Hey guys,
Sad to say, my clutch and or tranny problem just got worse...I couldn't even get out of my subdivision to get it to Illinois Harley. It was a total failure, I could let the clutch all the way out in 1st gear and the bike just sits ideling like it was in neutral. Granted you can hear the sounds of the clutch trying to engage but that it. Illinois Harley will be out tomorrow to pick it up and with any luck I'll be able to be back riding soon. Ride safe. See everyone at the next meeting; looking forward to more homecoming stories and or pics.

Anyone want to join me at Planfield Hawg nights this evening? This event definitely needs some Buells to balance out the chrome beauties that will be present......

Plainfield Hawg Night
Saturday, July 26th, 5-9PM

I went last year and there were some very cool bikes. Even a few cool sport bikes, but lots of Hawgs. Regardless you will see lots of custom choppers if you come to this. If interested, give me a call and we'll choose a meet up time. If there are enough of us, we can meet at my place (just 4 miles from downtown plainfield) and then ride in like a bunch of hoodlum Buellers.
