Jackie,
Those things look kind of "tasty", good camp fire,a long stick. Could taste better than chicken.
Tank,
Need to see a pic of this new "Lady" in your life. Before you scratch it up.

Yeah, this posting is useless without pics. Even the turtlehugger broke out the pink Sony for us.

Tank, The bike is gonna run like Shheeeeet compared to the "9" motor especially from new. I wouldn't expect much from it 'til the 1k service. Does your XT seem to have excessive throttle play ?

Fellas I'm off to WVa tomorrow for the weekend. Going up to Seneca Rocks for a few nights of camping and days of mile munchin. NUTS

Nuts, have fun!
I'd say "excessive" throttle play is a gross understatement!
It moves freely about 3/4-7/8". That's just waay too much. I keep old yeller at about 1/4". It will be tightened up before I ride it again(tomorrow)

Left mirror came loose about 20 miles from home, so I just let it swing round'...
Gotta fix that too.

Thinking about ditching the clear windscreen.
The blast hits me dead in the face shield, and it's loud as a mofo!

I'll get some pics here in a bit.

98 miles
(I know, not much, but it's freakin HOT here)

Oh,
I was thinking of pitching tent Thursday night, ready for some roads Friday morning.
But I don't know what the schedule looks like.

I'm planning to leave here Monday or Tuesday, and weave my way across to Roanoke, taking the worst roads I can find.

Gotta look up hotels with bars between here and there. Might at least give me a general direction, otherwise who knows where I might end up??

I almost accidentally ended up in Richmond today.

Tank, that's a bad place to almost find yourself. The potholes there are like nothing I'd ever seen and I've only been there once! I hear there's a bit of a crime scene there too. Hey man, where's the pics? We will not tolerate any camera batteries/cord/usb crap this time either. Have helmet cam will shoot period.

Looking at the map today I believe I'll be adding a bit of Fire Roads to my route tomorrow. WV fire roads that is! Maybe if the rednecks see the "American Sportbike" logo they'll re-think the rape and invite me to a white sheet rally instead. NUTS

Nuts,
You better be careful up there in those WV Hollers. They are very suspicious people, they don't trust the family on the next ridge. You would be like q "Martian from Outer Space"and the stars and strips is still the "Union Flag"
Tank,
Nice looking bike, love the Blue. How do you get on that thing with all the bags on it? Does one of those serve as a cooler?

Nuts,
Dunno how you missed the pics up there???

AND be very careful if you go near Covington and west of there. Pops kicked the Bitch out of the trailer he bought(secretly, but everybody knows?)

The Bitch is on a rampage, threatening to call mom. Mom said to give the bitch her cell number. She has a few words to convey...

Phone hasn't rang here.

Dirty laundry done...

Potholes in Richmond are nothing compared to the Speedbumps on the southside, on interstate. They are bigger than any neighborhood speedbump. It's like hitting a deer, only there's no blood, just loose teeth, and sore balls.

Charlie,
It's a new dance..
Left foot, left peg,
swing your right leg over and toss your body too,
catch it with the right foot, phew!
Kickstand up, and left foot touches down too,
maybe?
Fire it up and twist that grip, and twist the grip, still twisting?? F-ing way too much play in the grip.
Re-position hand on grip, very unnerving to have to do this.
Twist that grip, POP off idle and bike almost dies.(getting used to that)
Rev it a bit and we are in business...
Fast clutch to second, and we have ourselves a wheelie. As high as you can stomach.
Short shift into third and we are waaay exceeding the speed limit...perfect for the next curve.
Are you sure these are "touring" tires??
No they aren't, really.
They are High"er" mileage sport tires, that heat up really fast, and stick real good.
How far will they go?
Dunno, haven't dragged a hard case yet...

Haven't worried about putting gas in it either.

Tank, I'd document all the "tightenings" you've had to perform on BluBuell. Seems like the set-up tech had his head elsewhere.

As far as the cooler goes: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85 494

Amen Brutha..

All the front screen screws were loose.
The top of the left control housing was way loose.
(I could see wires inside)
And I'm still diggin'

Do I have to check every fastener, or is it just after a certain point during assembly?? The motor mounts appear to be ok, and the subframe and bag mounts are good. The rest of the plastic seems to be tight too.

WTF happened?

Posted over in the WVA thread.

Zumo is installed.
I didn't know the power outlets only worked with the kill switch on the right bar "on"? I tied into it anyway.

FrankenBuell is back. I tore it all apart to find a burnt up relay, shorted itself to ground. Put it all back together...
..4 hours of chasing, 1 bad relay.

I should have gone riding.

Fired up the 650 and took it for a quick spin. She still loves me!!!

Had to steal a relay off ol yeller, so I got a bike down.
SOUND THE ALARM: BIKE DOWN...BIKE DOWN!!
Oh, that's right, I have other bikes.

Turtlehugger, I buy arrows by the dozen for a reason. They have a tendency to walkabout once they leave my bowstring. I happened to seea few thousand deer myself in good ole West Virginny. Coupla hardcore mountain rednecks made a few appearances at camp and contributed many laughable moments. I did get a West Virginia Performance Evaluation that I was NOT able to weasle out of. Clocked at 80 in a 55 and written for 59mph, 4mph over. Not too bad all things considered.

Tankster, Torx is your friend. Sounds like you had the dealers flunky set up your XT. Now you've got about 2 weeks to get the kinks worked out so we can have a trouble free trip. I logged 716 miles last weekend, 30 of those on dirt roads. Two rain showers and I saw three other Buells. NUTS

Nuts,
Sorry you had to contribute to the WV economy.Sometimes its better(and cheaper) to slow down and smell the honeysuckle. You must have been doing some fast talking to get 21 mph knocked off or he didn't have his radar ON.

I have to be honest..

I can't attribute anything to the dealer that I've found so far...

Yep, all factory stuff.

But, the bike had 8 miles on it when I picked it up, and I don't know why the oil pressure sensor didn't leak then??

Guess they aren't as hard on stuff as the Tank.

I gotta bite-in, and get this thing broke-in by the pre-scheduled 1k service on the 9th. 4k rpm suks!(It's much nicer over 4k, yes a couple times)

Working on a checklist:

Wheelie: check
Airborne: check(with bags)
Drop: not yet
Chicken strips: not much left
Drag bags round the corner: not likely

Still working on the list..

Update on the Blast ... I removed the jets and sprayed them out with some carb cleaner, replaced the boot between the carb and intake, and installed an NGK iridium plug. She fired right up tonight! Still coughs a bit until she's warmed up, so I'm not sure whether it's the air/fuel mixture or what. Anyway, at least I'm back in the saddle.

If you want to stop by Wed night, I'll buy.

Not sure what time I'll get in, but I'll be coming from "Franks for the Memories", after lunch.

Altivista, before that. They have a hotel with a bar.

Got a plan for departure from Roanoake??

Hank, I'm working on it. By chance did you check out the thread in BB&D about the $43 HID light setup? We could buy the kit and install the HID in the stock housing for the high beam. INstant night light! Shipping is like $20, so we'd be in for about $35 apiece. Check em out and let me know. NUTS

BzBuell, glad you got the one-lunger running again. Let me know when you want to ride.

Charlie, supposed to be hot this week. Your neighbors must love you cranking the Cyclone up in the cool of the night.

What's the BB&D? I converted my Maxima's fog lights to HID and I've considered converting my Blast. If it'll work on my "one-lunger", I'd jump on the chance to do it for 1/2 the typical price.

Regarding going for a ride, I'm scheduled for the MRS course for 8/22-8/25, then I plan to go to the DMV to upgrade my learner's permit to a license shortly thereafter. In the mean time, I guess I'll just do some figure-8's and run up & down this industrial park I work in.

Gotta get her inspected, too. Fortunately, I know an inspector just a few mins from work.

Tank, I don't know if the wiring harness will allow the separation of the lights. The Buell harness may have a plug for both lights that split to the high and low beam. Would you consider yourself wiring deficient like NUTS? We might have to get our own set-up to keep it Plug-n-Play. Whatcha think?

brian, BB&D id Big Bad and Dirty, the Ulysses forum on Badweb. The kit is listed as a thread on there and getting a good deal of play. I need HID! I'll be out of town 21Aug thru 7 September so we'll get some riding in once I return and you're legal. NUTS

Charlie, I'll be heading over to see Todd soon to ride his "woods course". I'll send pics for added insult.
