Them fx'd ribs are gona suck! It's even worse when they are broken in the backal area, a feat our Mike has apparently pulled-off! He probably needs a good tickelin'.
Ah for the love of a boy and his Frito. With Frito we stand, without it we fall. As Frito spreads across the 48th parallel, from north and south, some cower in confusion, while others stand proud and bearing the flag of Frito march headlong into the fray. Long live Frito!

is it SPLASH yet...

Just got back from OHSU - Mike is still modeling the loving white gown and the standard issue "no slip socks"...... His heart rythmia (sp?) has actually gotten worse, now every other beat is irregular - so his heart fills up with blood pumps it out and then immediately after tries to pump it again even though it has not had time to fill up again. Then there is a long pause and the same cycle repeats. He has been getting dizzy when he walks the halls due to the lack of blood flowing through his petite little frame.... They did a cat scan of his heart and within the next couple of hours will have the results, if his heart is structurally sound they will send him home. Initially it was thought that this might have been some sort of pre-existing condition - however that is no longer a theory as he would not have been able to do his very physical job or even walk up our stairs without passing out. They said it is just bruised and will take time to heal - like the ribs not much can be done for it.

I will post when I know if he is heading home.

Kimberlie, Thanks for the update on Mike's condition. I'm sure Bob could fab up some kind of hydraulic regulator that smoothes the blood flow, maybe something with an external gauge monitor and pressure adjustment.

Seriously, I hope for Mike's speedy recovery. By the way, how are you and the boy's doing, is there anything we can do to help?

Our prayers are with you,
Chris

Duane, looks like Starbucks @ 11:00. I'll try the land line tomorrow.

Chris, I think Bob is already on the case. I stopped by today after work and he had weird schematic's laying all over the place and was ranting about "high-velocity Frito exchangers", and "building my Ubermench..." It was kinda spooky now that I think about it... And what the is an Ubermench?

So, the gathering of the tribes is arriving soon
, and it will be good to see my partners in two-wheel excitement. And get some of this action! Brilliant!

Galen,
You're going to have to refresh my memory. Where is that Starbucks again. Was it at 72nd Ave? We can probably find it if you give us the Exit. Who's all going to be there?

I am soooo ready to ride.

Mike was able to come home today..... YEAH..... He is feeling pretty good and so glad to be out and about. He has taken a couple of walks outside already - enjoying the sun on his face.

He is a bit emotional and feeling very blessed to have a caring family and friends. He is especially grateful for those who have been praying for him and those who came up to the hospital to see him and/or call him.

Please continue to pray that he would heal and his heart would be restored as well. He is still feeling a bit light headed and obviously having pain from his broken ribs.

Thank you

Kimberlie

Well... my Buell is sitting in Bob's garage, with no drive belt. Didn't even make it out of town this year... Galen is unhappy about this situation. It's like Santa didn't come this year. Again. So here I sit, broken hearted; came to ride, but barely started...

Get well Mike. We all love yous guys

That's sh*tty Galen.
Must have happened just after I saw y'all leaving Starbuck's.

I know how you feel.

BTW I did call Destination and they have the insurance check to fix my bike so they'll order parts tomorrow.
Teresa was in Vegas at a bike show all week, so she wasn't there to open her mail.

Hey everybody,
Thanks for being the best people on the planet. Bob took both Mike and me including our bikes all the way up into Canada and right to our doors. Bob, I can't thank you enough but thanks a million. Thanks to Carlos and Christie for the ride to the hospital and back to Woodland. Thanks to Steve and Chris for looking after the bikes. Marc you we're a big help as always. (If this was the academy awards the music would be playing by now). Thanks for your help Deb. I was in a bit of a fog after the mishap but I know that everybody pitched in like always. Things can go wrong in an instant but the bright side is we have a great group of friends, we can repair our bikes and our bodies will heal. In the meantime, I've been to the hospital and am waiting to get a call for surgery. They are going to try to manipulate the bones back into place and cast it, but the doctor said that he may have to install some external pins. We'll be in touch. Thanks again and I love you guys.

Wow! I disappear for a week on holidays, miss SPLASH and return to all this!

Mike & Kimberly: I’m sorry to hear of all the pain, trauma and worry you’ve been through the last couple of weeks. Those injuries not only hurt like h#ll, but give cause for sleepless nights too. Glad your on the mend and had the strength to make an appearance at the lake. Now, rest and relax.

Harv: WTF! You aren’t allowed to go down on the best motorcycle weekend of the year. Especially on yoru nice NEW scooter. I’ll might have to stop by and confiscate that thing if you’re not careful. Get well soon and keep your fingers crossed (if you can) that you don’t need the titanium hardware. That material is better saved for headers and pipes.

Galen: Pooched drive belt! That sucks worse than having a conflicting holiday schedule. The weekends are booking fast, but let’s get together and do SPLASH for all the no shows of 2008! I’ll be in Italy for the last two weeks of August, but September is free.

Harv, nice typing with one hand! Now:... all that stuff Kimberly said, X 2! We will all be waiting for the exciting details of this motor-mishap. Personaly I had the worst weekend EVER, stuck at home as I was. Joe, you may be right, but I wish I was with my crew.

Jimmy, you monkey! Now off to 'Italy'... some people. -sheesh- I am up for S.L.A.S.H. 'Support Laps Around St. Helen's Hospital' run. Drop a date and we can watch for the shinny-bits along the scrabble. Truth is, I kinda thought it would be me up in a tree this year. The way I've been riding, it seems like the next big surprise is either gonna be to make Betty fly, or to find out she unable to perform an out-side loop. It's all just part of the story, morning glory. Could be worser things than to end up like this.
Should have a new belt by this wkend... talk to ya all,

sooner, Galen

Thanks to everyone for the great riding this weekend. As usual, I had a great time, and especially enjoyed the company!

I've posted some of my pics, which include the belt loss & rescue, the aftermath of the wrecks, views of the mountain and a stop at Deception Pass.

http://photoshare.shaw.ca/view/12524623753-1217223 310-75706/

Adding to the stories ... Astrid lost her bike key somewhere in Port Townsend, but had been forward thinking enough to bring a spare with her. So we made it onto the ferry, but my ignition switch failed when we were about to disembark. High tide made pushing the Buell off the boat pretty easy (phew). Eric's misspent youth (?)paid off for me, as he showed us how easy it is to hot wire an X1. The rest of the ride was eventless.

What Kim said X3!!!Harv, I am glad that you were able to get into the doc and have your injury looked at. Keep us posted on everything Ok. Mike and Matt it was nice to see you both at the park. Kim we missed you! I know Chris has told you that if you need anything give us a call. We are only a short drive away and here to help if needed. Galen sorry to hear about the belt breakage! Bummer dude! We really did miss you. Jimmy I hope your vacation was nice. We did miss you lots. Bob, thanks for delivering Harv and Mike home safely. Your are the BEST! Thanks to all that helped with the bikes and guys that needed attention. The rest of the ride was nice but not the same as if we all were to have been able to stay together. Lunch was nice. Thanks Eric for sharing your pie! YUM! Johnboy thanks for sharing the pics. I will have to post some when I have the time. Tell Astrid that she is expected to be at the future SPLASH rides. She is alot of fun.Well another SPLASH is in the books! More memories and stories to tell when we are old, gray and rocking in our chairs. (Oh some of us are there already huh : ) ) LOL. Love you all dearly and think of you as family. Take care and ride safe..Loni
