The portion of reedy creek by the RBC center. Once you get past the medians its nice and twisty. But look out for the dumba$$es that fly through there in cars. Cutting across the lines on the curves.

Like what? Please name a few roads so we may enjoy them.

Given where I'm located, all my rides start out by going south on US-1 to escape town. I'll list the different routes by exit. Bear in mind I know these by sight, not name. I may not get all the directions right, but wandering around is part of the fun.

Ride #1 - Exit 89 (new hill-holloman)
Take exit 89 and turn left at the top. After several miles, you will come to a stop sign where it crosses avent ferry rd. (The road to the right goes to a boat ramp, and is a nice 2 mile stretch of low traffic dead end twisty road if you want to detour down there and come back.) Cross the intersection and continue on new hill until it ends. Turn right on the road it tees into, and then take the next left, a few hundred feet down the road. This road goes for miles. Every time you come to an intersection, just cross it and keep going straight. You will eventually end up on hw-401 near Angier. Left on 401 will get you back to Raleigh, or you can just turn around.

Ride #2 - Exit 89 (new hill - hollowman)
Take Exit 89 and turn left at the top. Right after you get off the exit, there is a road going off to the left (NOT the road to get back on US-1 North.) Take this road. It will eventually make a sharp left turn. After this turn, take the next road to to the right. This is a nice winding road that will take you back to Apex.

Ride #3 - Exit 89 (new hill - holloman)
Take the exit and turn right at the top. This is a nice road and will eventually take you back to us-64. You can take 64 back into Raleigh, OR cross 64 and you'll be on 741. The ride up 741 will take you by Jordan Lake, and up to I-40 eventually. There are many roads off 741 that you can explore. You can take I-40 back into Raleigh.

More to come

+1 on the Exit 89 roads! I go out that way most of time when I have a few hours to ride. Not much traffic and short of going to the mountains those are the best roads...

Ride #4 - Exit 84 (old us-1)
Take the exit, and turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Take the next left, about 1/8 of a mile down the road. This will put you on Christian Light rd. This is a beautiful road about 5 miles long, and it ends at highway 42. When you get to 42, you can either turn left, and take 42 back into F-V, or if you want a longer ride, turn right and stay on 42. This will dump you out down around Sanford, at which point you can get back on US-1 or old US-1 (via colon rd) and come back into Raleigh.

Ride #5 - Exit 84 (old us-1)
Take the exit and turn left at the bottom of the ramp. A couple of miles down the road, you will see a train trestle that passes over the road. About 100 feet before you get to the trestle, there is a road going off to the left. Take this road. It winds it's way up to us-64. Turn right on 64 to come back into town.

Ride #6 - Exit 81 (Pea Ridge Rd)
Take the exit and turn right. This will wind you through back roads over to Harris Like. When the road ends, turn left. You're now on the same road mentioned in ride #5. It will take you up to 64, and you can return to Raleigh on that. This is an excellent ride.

Ride #7 - Exit 79 (Moncure-Pittsboro rd)
I like this route because there is a gas station at this exit and I always fill up there. Turn right at the exit and go about 2.5 miles. Turn right on Gum Springs Church rd. A little over 6 miles down that road, you will turn right on Dee Farrell rd. Turn right when it ends and that will take you to 64. If you miss Dee Farrell, you'll end up on 64 business in Pittsboro, which will also take you home.

Ride #8 - Exit 79 (Moncure-Pittsboro rd)
Turn left at the exit and the road will shortly end on old us-1. Turn right on old us 1. Right before it crosses us-1 at exit 78, you will see a sign for bicycle 1 to the left. Take bicycle 1 (be sure to wave a Nance rd as you pass.) This will take you into the back side of Sanford, where there will be a stoplight. At the stoplight, turn left, the road will immediately fork, take the right fork. Follow this road until it ends. You will be on 42 now. Turn left and follow 42 back. You can either take it all the way into F-V, or back to Christian Light rd mentioned in ride #4.

Ulywife,
I got the cool patch today. Thanks. Also, took my broken brake lever off and had no other problems so I'm happy.

Mike from RPHD/Buell here. 04 xb12r red for those that don't know. I live in apex, so I take alot of the roads that Jim was talking about. Bike is in the shop right now, but I can do some Sunday rides as long as I am not teaching Rider's Edge that weekend.

Yep, should be back up a few days after the parts come in. Hopefully, they will be here tomorrow. I have a class to teach next weekend, it wouldn't be right to drive a cage to class.

JD - Not an uncommon problem. Check the front motor mount when you're replacing the exhaust, as it being bad caused mine to do this.

JD - Are you going to put on another stock muffler, or an aftermarket?

I don't know if you're planning on putting it on yourself (I can help) or having the dealer do it. Even if you do have the dealer do it, call today and order the muffler. It will speed things up greatly if you go ahead and order the parts yourself, rather than have the bike wait in the service queue, and have them order the parts once they get to it. You will also need a new exhaust gasket, so order one of those too.

How many miles on your bike?

Im going to put a after market one and re jet the carb. Not to sure on what exhaust to get though. I am on a budget and can not spend the $500+ that I have seen for some exhaust systems. Any suggestions?

The bike has around 4300 miles on it.

Jardine on my Uly. Sounds a little "Ducati-ish" with the "butt plug" silencer installed. Sounds great even w/o the silencer but definitely pisses off the neighbors! Cost $250ish.

Don't forget JD is on a Blast, it uses different pipes.

I've got the Vance & Hines. Ray Price can get them for you for about $280 I think.

I've made a few different "silencers" for the Jardine. Basically just a piece of aluminum with a big hole in the middle. Depending on the performance trade off you are willing to accept, you can make it as loud or quiet as you like. Youtube has a number of sound clips for different pipes if you're interested...

You can put on an 07 air box. Or cut the 06 air box up with a dremmil tool. I've got an 07 airbox on my 06 Uly. Ideally, you would get your ECM reflashed with the 07 map, but I never did.

Just got back from a ride on the Blast.

I saw a white X1 as I was leaving, and I think I saw a Black Blast as I was getting back on US1 to come home. Anyone from here?
