}Ok.... if the Vos is gone then you are either running a factory ignition in a constant state of retard or you have a aftermarket ignition that is a race only ignition like a junk Crane Hi4.... if your HCs are high and you have the vos off with the factory unit you need to check for intake leaks and see if the timing is on at idle. 2. If you have a crane hi4 your timing is way off at idle cause it has a limited advance curve and must not have a vos function turned on. 3, most of the hd products are very easy to get throuh emissions, we have a 5 gas machine to check it like the state...but 8in most cases (unless someone realy jacked with the jetting or the rest of the motor) if you have a 42 pilot jet and you pull the aircleaner out and retard the timing by blocking the vos line they fly through. If you have different jetting, manifold or spigot leaks (common issue in older harleys) or jacked up cam or ignition timing then that's a new ball game.

You shouldn't have to put anything in the tank other than fuel if you are an experience tunner... you should be able to tune the bike to pass with out adding crap in the tank. A gas emissions machine makes it much faster for us...but we have been sliding bike through epa standards for years prior to getting this equipment....

Fix the problems, tune it right, and the epa...state...and bike will all be happy.

You are running a bit rich, but with those high HC numbers, I would be looking for a misfire. Don't forget the basics, like your spark plugs. How do they look and are they the correct heat range? Too cold a plug will cause elevated HCs at lower RPMs.
As Hellcat mentioned, advanced ignition timing will also run up the HC levels.

As far as putting alcohol in your tank is concerned, ethanol can be used to help lean out a rich running engine, but it is just a band-aid for bringing down CO levels, not HC. I would avoid this type of thing except as a last ditch act of desperation.

Welcome to the state!
You are way on the other side of town, but you should try to get something together.
Apparently it is pretty difficult these days.
But welcome and I hope you enjoy our heat (you moved here just as it begins to get warm!)

Hey Randle,
Welcome to Hell... : )
The riding season has pretty much ended, LOL.
Unless you can get up early enough to get out as the sun is rising so you can be back in town before it hits 100! (That's what I do anyway)
I also live in Glendale, perhaps we can get together one of these evenings. I frequent a place called O'Sullivans near 59th ave and Bell.
Once again, welcome and enjoy the weather!!!

Bart

I sat out in a parking lot last Sunday and sweat a couple pounds off while my wife finished her class and skills test on her blast. She now has a license and the blast is running pretty good, except for lousy shifting. Looks like we will trailer the blast and M2 up to prescott the 3rd. I'll be out in the spars the 4th, 5th and 6th, then hit skull valley in the evening with my wife.

bill,
sounds like fun, I've always envied Don living up there with the Spars in his back yard. You two are going to enjoy yourselves.

I zipped up over Yarnell, and the spars this morning bright and early. (only way to do it to beat the heat!)
There was an unmarked cop at the bottom of Yarnell, and tons of bicyclists pedalling up the damn thing! Holy crap! They were taking ALL the lanes. I managed to squeak past them and continue on over the spars where I ran into a marked cop car parked, and the cop standing in the middle of the road with a broom sweeping debris from a minor rock slide. LOL He seemed pretty pissed at me, as he was waving pretty wildly at me to slow down and pull over. OOPS!I didn't stop, and he didn't chase, so I guess I wasn't breaking too many laws. ; )
I was surprised he didn't recognize me on the way back, but he was in his car chillin'. I think the cops were out there for the bicyclists.
The roads are in great shape!
Just make sure you get out early so you can get home before it gets TOO hot.

Hello Arizona. I am heading over to the MOTO GP in July, and was wondering about renting a trailer. Does anyone rent a bike trailer? with the rails, etc? REX

Yeah... it's just a friendly wave unless they chase you down : ).

Happened to Coby once on a particularly fun trip through the spars...

Apparently they can see quite a lot of the road from their lookout at the NE end of the twisty stuff. They stopped him for passing on a double yellow. The whole way I was waiting for cars to wave me by and then catching back up to Coby. They stopped him and not me. They didn't give him a ticket though...

It's about the first 20 miles of Hwy 89 coming out of the west side of Prescott. The Az map says White Spar, but I think that refers to the forest name and the white spar trees right there. I come right out of my friends driveway up on Senator HWY, cut through the first subdivision, turn left and hit it, back and forth for an hour or so a couple times a day. Don lives over there just off of 89 close to that neighborhood.

That section of 89 is knows as "White Spar Rd.".

The SW direction is a tad dirty right now. Coming into Prescott is fine though.

hey yall,
I was thinking...
There is a car and bike show that I go to rather frequently out at the Pavilions out in scottsdale.
The place is on indian bend right off the 101, in the mcdonalds parking lot.
Now there used to be a group of guys that rode buells that used to come out...
I was thinking that some saturday evening we should all make an appearance and give the valley a taste of buell at its finest.

let me know what you think!

OK, I'm back from Homecoming. We had a great time!
All in all, Deb and I logged over 4800 miles on the oogly, not bad, wore out 1 tire.
here's a few pics...

these will cool ya down some, we went over Independence pass in Colorado along the way...

How do ya like these curves?

We stopped at "carhenge" in Nebraska.

This is at the host hotel, the day we rolled into town.

This is at the factory, they had tours going through the assembly line. Nothing but 1125r's rolling through, kind of made us wonder what's up with the 2009 model XB's...

Later that night, we went to the Boiler Room, a little bar that Erik and the Thunderbolts would be playing at after the dinner...

A good time was had by all

Deb and I started back on Sunday morning, planning on seeing Mt. Rushmore on the way with any other "unusual" roadside attractions...

This was in the middle of the South Dakota plains...

I finally found a safe place for Debbie. : )

I couldn't get this gal to talk much

Debbie had fun riding this wild horse...

We zipped through Sturgis, and then, finally, Mt. Rushmore!

Token Buell shot

The roads in and around the Monument were great with curves. Just gotta watch out for the wildlife!

This painted Buffalo was one of many in downtown Custer, SD.

We ripped across Wyoming, there was absolutely nothing along the route we took.
We had to hit the curves in Colorado one last time before heading down into New Mexico.

Lake City was booked so we stayed at these little swiss Chalet cabins in Gunnison, and assaulted Hwy 149 first thing in the morning.
BRRRRR! It was cold! We wore our rain suits to stay warm until the day warmed up.

By the time we got to Albuquerque, my rear tire looked like this. DOH!
T-bird HD/Buell took care of me and we got back on the road about 10AM the next day.

We came in through Holbrook, Heber, Payson, Strawberry, Camp Verde, then down I-17.
This is what greeted us as we came down off the rim...

Well, that's all folks!
I hope you enjoy the photo's as much as we enjoyed taking them. : )
I've got 8800 miles on the oogly now, I need to do another decent trip to get enough miles for the 10000 mile service.
Anybody interested in doing Hwy 191 one of these weekends? It would require taking a Friday off for the ride up to Springerville, then doing 191 both directions on Saturday, and coming home on Sunday. (I have to work Sunday nights)
I also wouldn't mind doing a loop over Yarnell, the spars, Prescott, Camp Verde, Strawberry, Payson, and back into town on a Saturday...

Let me know if any of you are interested, and I can give you more details.

Bart

I thought I would have received more response from an invotation/idea where we could all get together.
So what do you all think, meeting at a free car show, just to get to meet one another and ask questions.

Let me know what you think.

Oh and nice pics Bart, looks like you had a wonderful trip!

Hey I am glad to hear some willingness to get people together!

Ok, for the question on where the Pavilions; it is located at Indian Bend and the 101.
This is out in Scottsdale, so it is not to far, but not right up the road for a lot of people.

The show is every Saturday, from early evening until when ever people leave.
I suggest we all get there about 6 or 7pm, that is about when people begin showing up, when it begins to cool off and whatnot.

About the Tilted Kilt, I have heard that it is a pretty fun time, and its mostly HD, but we could fit into that group... HD motor and what not!
I am up for anything!
All I say is, lets get together somewhere and show the valley Buell!

Let me know what yall think! and when we want to get together!

I'll be out your way Saturday, doing a loop over Yarnell, through the spars, over Camp Verde to Payson, and then back into the valley via the Beeline.

I'll try to make whatever you guys end up deciding on for a get together. The tilted Kilt sounds good to me, but I have to work on Sundays and would have to leave early. : (

WE should make a plan to meet at a gas station close to the scottsdale bike night so that we can ride in together. Similar plan for the kilt so the buellers can get a table together and we won't have to tolerate the ricers.

Randle,
there is no need to isolate ourselves from other brands. That kind of attitude shouldn't really be tolerated.
Warp2 rides an Aprilia, and my best friend rides a GSXR1000.
We can ALL get together at one table and enjoy each others company without giving riders of other brands the cold shoulder.
After all, we ALL ride, it shouldn't matter what we ride, when it does, than we lower ourselves to the "Harley" crowds attitude...
