Ferris - You may be a redneck if you're unignorant and think its a good idea to wait out a lightning storm on top of a mountain between two metal structures saying, "I'm not skeered!"

How long did it take you all to get up there?

Jim, gettin' there was easy (take the Mill Mountain exit off the Parkway, then follow the signs for three miles).

it was the gettin' outta there part that was a little tough. :-)

Carlos, i was too ignernt to be skeert!

Jinance-was that you headed up US1 at about 7,8ish? Was just finishing up a 387 mile ride, uh, impromptu ride! Buddy on the Ultra Glide says to me this morning, let's go ride around the lakes. I didn't think he meant ALL of them!!! I learned how to sit back against the back rest a drive with my feet. It's a long story!!!

U4 - Do you know what size O rings are used on the oil and transmission drain plugs? Do O rings even come in standard sizes?

Jim, I don't know the sizes, but I took the plugs with me to AZone and got replacements. They were a bit tight going on, but that was like 12000 miles ago! Be sure they give you black round ones and not the green ones, those are for the A/c system.

Were coming from your favorite resteraunt yesterday? My buddy on the Glide wanted to go swimming at Jordan Lake when we crossed the bridge, he always carries a pair of trunks in his bags. I had no choice but to swim in my brand new jeans. Cold on the way home, so I scooted back against the back rest and thought, hmmmm, I could put my feet up on the grips. from that point forward I was drying my, uhm, unmentionables!

You're obviously not Mike Warren. : )

Were coming from your favorite resteraunt yesterday? [Tuesday]

The one in Sanford. My wheel bearings survived this time.

Yesterday I rode down to SP on the Blast and had dinner at Sweetfeeds.

Good thing you specified the color. Even for those of us that know you and your bike, we have no idea what color it will be from one day to the next. : )

Man, I if I had a nickel for every time I missed out on riding due to work, I could afford to quit working.

The Firebolt is doing great at the moment. I'd love to throw a set of heli-bars on it, but I need to keep saving my pennies.

I'll check back here in the morning to see if anyone is interested in riding. My plan is to point this thing West and ride till I get bored.

Sportymark - I didn't think I needed help with the isolator, was just calling cause I enjoy your company. But I was wrong. : ( The bolt is stuck to the rubber, and I can't get it to turn far enough to break loose. Suggestions would be most welcome.

Just got back to Berlin (and finished final packing) after a weekend down around Frankfurt for the 2008 Buell Owner and Repair Group Mid Summer Meeting. Boy, oh boy, do I have some adventures to relay... Since it's 2:00 a.m. here and my flight is at 9:30, I'm gonna have to cut this short. So consider yourself teased!!!

I'm arriving tomorrow night in Milwaukee (along with a couple of German Bueller's arriving in Minneapolis tomorrow) and we (along with a buddy from Wisconsin who has 2 1989 RS 1200's) will decend upon the Homecoming festivities as soon as we are all in the same area/zip code...

We partied Thursday night, all day Friday and Saturday, and then headed back Frankfurt this afternoon for a little, much needed, relaxation. Tomorrow we fly and on Wednesday, we begin it all over again! WUNDERBAR!!!

Will there be any other C3'ers showing up at Homecoming?

Carlos, here is a cut-n-paste from what I wrote in the isolator thread:

quote:

It's like a new bike. I mean that literally. I rode a new Uly at the VIR Inside Pass track day. I noticed that it was so much smoother than mine. I replaced the isolator to see if that was the difference. The isolator I took off does not have any visible problems, but the new one sure does work better.

Here is my suggestion to everyone. If you feel ANY vibration in the bars at speed, you need a new isolator. At 4000 rpm, if I get on the throttle, I can feel the pistons in my foot pegs, but NOTHING in the bars. Same at 3000 rpm. Now I remember why I bought this bike. : D

1313 - I will not be able to make it either.

Jim N. - Thanks for the input. I feel a lot vibrating when the front muffler bracket broke. Not so much when everything is buttoned down.

I spent last night in my (old) own bed in East Troy. How great to be able to read everything you see, and to be able to understand everything that is being said!

TEASER!!! TEASER!!! To allude to some of my adventures in Germany, check this out. Oh, but there's so much more to tell just about this demo ride. But I'm gonna have to keep everyone waiting for a little while longer as preparations are being made for Homecoming.

Scott just called from Minneapolis. He has family in Washington state, but his parents are in Minneapolis and he resides in Frankfurt, Germany. Arriving later today in Minneapolis is another German by the name of Jens. Tomorrow they will be leaving Minneapolis headed for East Troy. And as has been said before - let the games begin!

YOO-HOO!
