Can someone help me out with a ride route around Taos? I'm retiring and moving to San Antonio next month and don't want to miss out on what I've heard is a great ride. Hard to beleive I've been here over a year and haven't made it up there yet.

I'm planning on going next Sunday if anyone wants to tag along.

Thanks,
Craig

There was some talk of riding on Sunday.. Craig. We'll be sure to let you know. I could ride it on Sat. as long as we get back to SF by 5pm.

Yes, CJ I survived the weekend, and I actually finished each of my races. The shoulder felt pretty good. By the end of the race, it was really tired and sore, but it felt better after I rested a bit. I was surprised that today that it actually feels better then it did before the weekend.

I didn't push, out there I just went at a pace that was comfortable, and I knew that I wouldn't crash doing. But, it was fast enough that I wasn't last in all three of the races. :-)

I was at the track... they were running late and I had to leave so I didn't see the last two races. I didn't see you Kim... but I only made one walk through the pits.

I saw one Buell on the track... #666 ?
Anybody we know?

I recommend the low road to Taos and the high road back...if you are short on time.

If you have time take the high road and then go west, through Sipapu, to Mora and to Angel Fire. NM. Then head into Taos. You can go back on the high road... This is one of my favorite rides. Scenic, good roads that are made for sport bikes...

If you need the actual roads... let me know.

I will be in staying in Taos for the Red River fiasco this weekend. Has Santa Fe HD moved to its new store yet or is it in the same place? A couple of Harley riders I will be riding with want to go down and visit the dealership and I would not mind stopping in as well.

I cannot remember the high road route to the dealership from Taos (I drank a lot of beer since the Buell Taos rally) can some refresh my memory? Thanks. Frank

This would be my favorite way to do the high road.

The dealership hasn't moved yet not until sometime in June. From what I've seen of the new place it is going to be great.

Ya, the guy on the 666 firebolt is Chris, he just got his license last month. He took 2nd in the supertwins class. He was pitted right next to me. Very nice guy.

Those routes exactly...the first one is one of my favorites.

It was hard to tell how #666 was doing since he was mixed in there with three or four classes.

Actually, I would take 518 out of Taos on the return trip if you have time and want to stay on the high road the whole time.

The low road is scenic but a bit of a drone...

Well, I'm planning to ride this Sunday. Our scheduled route is really nice, TA-TP.

This was what I was thinking we could do:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=2581 898085729071633,36.318850,-106.036190%3B1343220451 1152145865,36.210394,-106.287192%3B672018155440737 0125,36.650710,-106.559990%3B15016760929450412892, 36.652810,-105.984320&saddr=Cerrillos+Rd,+Santa+Fe ,+NM&daddr=US-285+%4036.318850,+-106.036190+to:US- 84+%4036.210394,+-106.287192+to:US-84+%4036.650710 ,+-106.559990+to:US-64+%4036.652810,+-105.984320+t o:Taos,+NM+to:36.175574,-105.647278+to:Cerrillos+R d,+Santa+Fe,+NM&mra=dpe&mrcr=2&mrsp=6&sz=9&via=1,2 ,3,6&sll=36.191045,-106.06483&sspn=1.511725,2.5708 01&ie=UTF8&ll=36.191092,-106.064758&spn=1.511725,2 .570801&z=9

However, that looks like a LOOOONNGG day. So, we could shorten it to this:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=1148 6058372804514562,36.196626,-106.239081%3B772466535 0214164443,36.622210,-105.967570%3B143247372258971 24381,36.679404,-106.557833&saddr=Cerrillos+Rd,+Sa nta+Fe,+NM&daddr=US-84+%4036.196626,+-106.239081+t o:US-285+%4036.622210,+-105.967570+to:36.884014,-1 06.589355+to:Cerrillos+Rd,+Santa+Fe,+NM&mra=dme&mr cr=0,1&mrsp=3&sz=9&via=1,2&sll=36.480932,-106.1911 01&sspn=1.506111,2.570801&ie=UTF8&ll=36.286349,-10 6.130676&spn=1.509884,2.570801&z=9

This would let us lunch in Chama. I thought we could go counter-clockwise.

Any thoughts?

ABQ/Rio Rancho riders meet at McDonalds in Bernalillo at 8am.

Santa Fe riders meet at the dealership at 9am.

I'm flexible on route but would rather stay away from the madness of Red River.

I may ride with ya-all for a short while in the am and then turn back. I rode the street bike on Tuesday and the arm starts to hurt after about 30 minutes. So I don't think that I can take an all day ride. I was a hurting puppy after just riding to and from abq.

CJ, I wish I would have known you guys were going to do a trip to Red River. We could have meet up somewhere. I was on my silver S2T. I saw about a half dozen Ulys going into town when I left and a few (maybe two, tubers) and a couple of Firebolts (red and yellow). I only stayed in Red River about two hours this trip because we stayed in Taos. We usually stay in Red River so we can drink and watch the bikes go by after we are done riding. I got down to Santa Fe but Murrae was already gone for the day. I bought a cool Buell jacket. Thanks Kim and Nick for the map I really enjoyed both routes and so did my non-Buell riding friends.... Hmm... sorry about that. It was VERY last minute. Doesn't sound like you saw us. We had two yellow Uly's, my white Firebolt, Murrae's white TT, and Luis' black 12S. We also had a yellow RZ350 and a red R6. We left around 3pm. It was a long day and I should not have taken the scenic route home. Took forever.

Otherwise it was nice.

Meanwhile, they were all bugging me about the June 1st track day sponsored by PJ's. Are you going to go? I'm still not sure.

Hello, All,

So I'm riding home from work today and hear a new rattling noise... I shake the handlebars to see if it's me or the junker in the next lane - must be that guy (all the pro's use the handlebar shake to diagnose rattling noises, I've been told) When I get home a brief exam shows a broken Exhaust Band Clamp. Chick's/T-Bird has none and Santa Fe has none.

PLEASE HELP: I already have a Track Day ticket and need to either sell the ticket or find a band clamp B4 Sunday. Can anyone help me with this? I'm not looking for a handout, as I'll pay cash for a viable one plus delivery charges...

This is the forward band clamp that holds the muffler to the bottom of the motor. Aprox 8" diameter. 2005 XB12S.

Thanx,

Imp

We could safety wire it... or ya could try Daves (badweb use id) at the appleton wi dealership. or email me at kkprichard at gmail and I'll give ya his phone number.

He was able to get me parts when no one NM could.
