Welcome on X1db (Dwayne right!)

Glad to hear from ya, we all, well most of us not me all the time but I do when I can, meet at the other place Wednesday nights at the Other Place in Overland Park for bike night. Also there are some riders that live in Lee's Summit that go to Pat O` Q's in Lee's Summit @ 470 and Woods Chappel road on Thursday night if you rather.

We also have a B.R.A.G. club started and it's local so it's cool and pretty convenient fo most to meet once a month.

Any way--- you can go to any dealer you want for most things but a few of us like to go to Central Harley, due to the fact that our club is organized through them and Frank (one of our fellow, and HIGHLY RESPECTED riders works there, and he is pretty up to speed with Buells.

If I missed anything I am sure Bill or Richie will fill in what good details I left out, Won't ya guys!!

By the way Frank;

Any news on my Battery kit??

If so drop me a note, I'll get back with ya after my close encounter with ISABEL the freakin HURRICANE getting ready to hit South Carolina, yea thats where I am headed until Sunday. What a time to visit Charlseton EH!!

Also there is a 300-6 cyl in the star for $200. in the wheel and parts section, the add said you can hear it run!!!

By the way, I blew out--I mean blew out my collector on my header pipe Sunday just before the ride, sounded like a freakin John Deere on steroids. Gettin that fixed as we speak. I am going to make a custom lower header bracket out of alum. that will actually CLAMP the freakin pipe instead of weld. That factory weld popped out like a piece of tempered steel, piece of sh*t!!
That damn Ceramic coating is a real bitch to remove, but it had no contest against the old 40 grit, hehehe guess ya had to be there!

You guys be good this weekend---no pantie raids--no SPEEDING especially you Richie, and no freakin wheelies SAM hehehe. OH yea, for you poor soles riding next to or behind Sam, make sure you turn down those hearin aids!! He'll blow your main speaker:)

Dennis,

Funny you should mention that (iron butt), because that's what I had in mind for Sunday. I left the Dallas area pretty early with every intention of getting home long after dark. The weather channel showed Oklahoma as one large thunderstorm Sunday. So I decided to run up through Arkansas and Missouri. There are parts of the route for next weekend that I wanted to check on. hwy 341 comes to mind...but....

I got sidelined in New Boston, Texas for about four hours.....I was having a yard sale at the truckstop.....(XB parts all over the lot). Bike wouldn't start after a gas stop. The check engine light was morse coding me the words F.A...W.K...U.. it boiled down to the fact that I seemed to have acquired an electrical gremlin heading East on I-30. I spent an hour setting my wares on display "in nice orderly piles" (read: FAWK YOU TOO!) all around the bike. then about 45 min tracing wiring. then another fifteen minutes trying to squeeze my little hands down to the O2 sensor for a jiffy fix with zip-ties.....all going according to plan....

On a brighter note during this ordeal a nice older gentleman with a brand new Intruder laying on it's side, on his air compressor, in the back of a horse trailer, with the rest of his wordly possessions, offered me a lift as far north as Ft Smith, Ar.... but I still thought I was on top of the problem. After politely telling him I couldn't reasonably see piling my shit on top of his....and being "OK" with adding more damage to...oh, nevermind. I helped him stand it back up and taught him how to use his ratchet straps.

all going according to plan...until I am trying to trim the Zip tie to keep it out of the fan.....when my leatherman finally cuts through the tie I notice (as did many onlookers after I started screaming) that I had taken a rather deep cut across the top of my knuckle at the base of my middle finger. not one but 2!!!!! bones visible when you pull the flap back (which for some reason I kept feeling the need to do)....(after running around in circles holding my middle finger up) but the zip tie was cut..victory! at that point I decided I may need stitches and bandaging for this one, and that wasn't going to sit well for the ride home(still 500 more miles).

where were we....Oh yeah, bleeding profusely at a truck stop/burger king somewhere in Texas ....So I wander (read: RAN) over to the widow washer stuff and grab a few of those sterile towelettes (read: the rest) to try and keep some blood available to the important parts....yep that one!

has anyone ever mentioned use #315 for electrical tape on this board?

So I tell myself I'll stop at the ER in KC. then they can sew my mouth shut, suture my hand, and put my arm in a sling, and I'll call for a ride......but I'm still gonna try and make it.....First get the bike back together and on the road....Second I stuff my new "mitten" into an already tight glove (not liquid tight though) and off I go. I can now up AND down shift proficeintly without the clutch (who would've known? ......spelling is still iffy).

It's probably all of two hours later when the trooper asks me if I am alright (remember, not liquid tight) and what did you do to your hand? not necessarily in that particular order, nor without the usual pillow talk about safe operation of a BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.... I try to be comedic.....
Then I had to explain that it wasn't exactly a knife fight, per se'.....it was self inflicted at a baitshop/bullet/booze, burgers and bimbos quikie mart "you know ....in Texas" while trying to fix my bike....at which point he really stuns me....honestly, this is what he said....you ready?...."I didn't think Buells broke down" after that we were chums, and he only wrote me up for twenty over........and suggested there was a hospital "just" up the road. At some point my glove quit leaking (I think I passed out long before that). KC just 193 miles to go....192...191...190-1/2.....

I got home about 9:30 pm and made sure I had a beer open before I took my boots off. (not just to replenish the fluid , but also I didn't want to start getting woozie without a good excuse).
so I had three more!...... the bike is filthy, I am sure a few screws were not properly torqued and are now MIA, however all will be in tip-top shape for this weekend.

I was no longer in the running for the Iron Butt.....but I was thinking about it!

Pictures? one of which is really dirty....

this one

not even ICON Ti-MAx can save you from stupidity!

lawsuit?

and finally.........

are you girls ready for this?

Arkansas

Ben, congratulations are in order....I'll buy the first!

Keith, I guess I'll head for the house and start cleaning......some women take offense to all the nudie pictures taped to the ceiling with targets drawn on them......hahaha. So you wanna run the gauntlet, eh? I think about 4:30-5:00am on Friday ought to do the trick......

congrats to Tinman too!

Hey X1db!, glad to see you found us. Sure sorry to hear about your troubles with your bike. These guys are right about Frank over at Central, he was recommended to me awhile back. I have not needed his help yet, but supposedly he is real good with Buell problems.
Hopefully you do not totally give up on your bike, sometimes a bike like that makes a great project bike. Get all the offending crap out of the way and refresh with top quality aftermarket and zoom down the highway ya go.
Thanks for serving and helping the big boys take it to downtown Bhagdad and cave city Afghanistan, give em all they want we'll make more, there is no human problem so great that it can not be overcome with some high explosive. It is afterall, "the ultimate housewarming gift for terrorist"

Sam,
I don't think it would be an official road trip if I didn't at least perform one act of stupidity. Might as well get it out of the way on thurs/friday morning! Leave the targets, I don't mind! Maybe I can get a little target practice in myself! (note; I still owe ya one!) And Heather would expect nothing less of you after your performance here in Qtown! Glad to hear you made it back in at least a few pieces.

New plan, Sam and I sneak off and run the gauntlet. Heather, Houdini, and the dancing Queen find a night club and burn the place up. Sam and I will meet up with them when we get done. Upon arriving we will find that houdini has disappeared. Decided he needed to go for a walk. The dancing queen is burning up the dance floor. Jason (wingman) shows up and takes one for the team (sam). Heather passes out shortly after leaving the night club leaving me sexually frustrated for the rest of the night.

Na, lets just stick to the old plan of BBQ and a couple beers!

Keith

Keith, you forgot the hounds of hell?

seriously Keith, I thought I would let you two stay in the fetish room, Heather I am sure would LOVE some of the Decor in there.....there's even a pony she can ride....if I can just find the key to that padlock.....

Paul, I suppose I could have zoomed that one too! In the above post, I was trying to convey the sheer misery I endured over the weekend! Broke down, dog tired, worn out, feelin' old... sam stuff. I must have miscomunicated the story. Did I mention the pretty little brunette and the Fort Worth Zoo? you all have no idea what fun is......That story may be better left untold!

Well... first of all... NO MORE SHARP OBJECTS FOR SAM!!!

Sam... my leatherman has wire cutters on the plier part... just a tip... but I gotta tell ya... that part works great for cutting wire ties... Maybe I should have said something about that last wednesday... when we were talking about the ton of tools I have purchased the past year.

On my BMW I have a factory tool kit plus some other tools including a swiss army knife, gerber multi-tool and a leatherman... and a little first aid kit. Having said this... on my XB9S I tried to do the pack rat thing... and could not even find room for a bandaid! So I can't rag on you for not having a few emergency items... Eric just never figured any room for that kind of stuff.

Another tip for Sam... always cut pushing the blade AWAY from soft tissue!

Let me tell you about my weekend. This weekend was my weekend with my 14 year old son... and a buddy of mine from Virginia who retired from the same agency I work for was going to fly his plane in for a visit. The plan... I pick my buddy up from the Grain Valley airstrip at 5:00 pm... then pick up my son at 6:00 pm.

About 4:00 pm the plan went to shit. My son calls me and says he took a tumble off his skateboard... you know... the one his mother had a fit about when I bought it for his birthday... saying if he get hurt it's on my dime. He is pretty calm on the phone... he can't get his mother to respond to a page. He says he fell and bumped his head (he was not wearing the helmet I asked him to wear) and hurt his arm. I ask all the question to determine if there is a indication of a concussion. He answers with the ones I was hoping for... no indication... he starts to break down... worried about what his mother will say and do. His mother is bipolar... and her problem and a threat to kill me during one of her fits is why I left. So he is worried it will set her off... less worried about his injuries... more worried about her reaction.

So... thinking he has road rash on his arm... and a bump on the head as a worse case... I set a new land speed record getting to his house just in case. A good idea on my part... when I get there I discover he has showered to get blood off his face where is was all over him and his clothes (it seems I forgot to include in my fatherly talks that head wounds bleed very badly when they are not serious head injuries)... he stopped the bleeding and he has ice on his head. I find a major gash in his head... cut to the bone... and an arm that looks kinda broke.

Off to the emergency room... 3 hours later he has 7 staples holding two gashes closed... one a 1 inch cut and another a half inch above about 1 1/4 inch... a half cast... as the xray looks ok ... but there may be a hair line fracture of his left arm... Oh yeah... he now agrees with me a helmet is a good idea.

I had to send Sharon to get my buddy... I had to tell his mom what happened over the phone after I finally tracked her down an hour later... and calm her before she drove to the ER... and when I dropped him off Sunday night... it was a rerun of the last ten years with her having a major fit.

...and I got to ride a bit Sunday... it seems my son forgot to pack the papers from the ER visit like I asked him to... and I had to take them to his mothers house... after she ripped me for being irresponsible and forgetting them... not hearing Scott say it was his goof. Lets see... Scott could not track down his mom... it took me another hour to track her down after picking him up and taking him to the ER...

Damn me... for being so irresponsible.

So story-wise... you win... it was a great story to read... to help me forget my weekend... sorry you had to cut your hand in half to entertain me... Scott wins for severity of injury from a 20 MPH crash. I will have him read about your weekend... to let him understand shit happens... life goes on. Next time you two meet... you can show each other scars... and tell the gory details. Both stories I am sure will grow to an amputation taped back on... and a 60 MPH skate board.... 3 broken arms and a crushed skull!

...and no... I can't get tickets fixed... if I could... I would not be so paranoid when we zoom on wednesdays.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I didn't think this board would be this active!

I will be contacting Frank this week to get things in line. I have thought about gettin a Forcewinder intake and a Streetfighter exhaust when everything is right again. I already have the race ECM. I haven't seen any of you with those choices and wonder if there are any reasons.

When do you meet for your monthly BRAG meetings? I might be interested in joining back up since I seem to have found a somewhat local chapter.

Dennis,
Dude! by far you win!.....that crazy woman thing scares me to the very core!!!!!!! (shudder) I hope your son recovers quickly, damn, I can't remember how many trips I made to the ER in my youth. Skateboards, bicycles, dirtbikes, well I can remember but I can't count that high.....I even remember one time cutting a finger pitching broken glass and then cried myself into the front bumper of a parked car trying to ride the bicycle home...the car won! I couldn't pedal any faster and the car didn't move...God, I hate hospitals.

I sincerely hope this isn't one of those things you "hear about" every time you drop the kid off, or worse yet every time you want to get him some "dangerous" new toy! Kids every now and then get hurt, unavoidable. Kids that don't get hurt occasionally, think they are indestructable, I reminded my little brother often....not quite as much as I reminded myself.....but often.

Tell your son, not to be scared of getting hurt, that would keep him from doing to many worthwhile things, but to let the possibility of it factor into the precautions he can take to lessen the pain. and I don't mean carrying around abottle of midol(that would be just plain wrong!)

Brian,
glad you found us, yes we ride alot. there's always someone here doing something.
every Wed night -(except the second Wed of every month.....Our BRAG Group meeting at WJ McBride's at 119th and metcalf)- you can find some of us at the bike night at "the other place" 79th and Metcalf or some of the guys run out to Lee's Summit to the paddy'O bike night on thursdays. We were doing sunday rides leaving from central between ten and noon, but I don't think that has happened lately (aside from the Biker fo Babies). Occasionally we do Group trips short to long (Some of us rode to North carolina last year, we've been up into Iowa a few times, Bunch of the guys just rode up to milwaukee for the 20th Buell reunion). Stay tuned right here for any info you may need! We are planning a weekend trip down into Arkansas this weekend and have people joining us from St. Louis and Illinios and parts whereabouts.

There's also a wealth of knowledge in here(the group, the Board) about your bike and the multitude of things available for it. I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that not one person here wouldn't help you with any questions or problems you may have regarding your bike. there are numerous X1 owners, M2 owners and s1's and 3's and Xb's (did I forget anyone?) It's a pretty tight nit group of really neat people. I'm sorry you didn't get introductions at the Bikers run this weekend.....actually surprised! these guys are like vultures.....hahahaah

Dewuanye,

who makes the streetfighter exhaust? KCBill has a forcewinder intake as do some others(frank? Richie? Paul?), I just remember his much more vividly due to the fact that it sticks out further than most. I think it doubles as his kick stand.

Brian and Dwayne, What part of town do each of you call home?

I live in Shawnee.

Dwayne, you'll get mixed reviews on force exhaust due to their inherent fragility.....a lot of them have broken around here!

My recommendation to you would be the "Buell race kit" with the ECM the thing makes like 37% more midrange power/torque. I waited almost two years and about 16k miles before I finally slapped one on my X1 and kicked myself ever since for waiting so long!!!!!! Honestly the best money for power I ever spent on that bike!

Brian-
I'll go ahead and welcome you to the board, even though I'm a newbie and a little uncomfortable claiming it as mine. I live about 1/4 mile north of NKC Hospital, but I run up to P.C., Smithville, Kearney, etc. most weekends. Ping me so we can swap numbers and get together. I'm on a Black M2 with a crappy orange stripe.

Dwayne-
Welcome to you, too. Friday I installed a Forcewinder (XR2) and D&D slip-on. Can't comment on the durability of the D&D, but I lost a piece of the breather from the Forcewinder. Seems like a pretty good piece so far, though. Best part of the setup: If you are wearing a FF helmet it is loud enough that you can't tell if that is a fire truck, ambulance or cop behind you. "Officer, I was just trying to get out of the way!"
