It is almost torture...

But, with the old suspension, I would not even go where the "Fantastic Two" took pics.

The new stuff should carry my little ass off any cliff these crackas have to offer.

I'm soo jealous right now, I could say anything!

"I'll Be Back!"

p.s. I take it that Nuts is diggin' the DRZ?

Charlie,
Our plan wasn't to rub it in on YOU but rather make Tank so jealous he would have to make immediate arrangements for a trip in the near future. Sorry you had to inadvertently suffer mental anguish as well .

Tank,
I knew there was no way you could look at our flood of photos without being envious. I don't think it is possible to look at that cornucopia of goodness without setting some plans in motion inside your mind .

I'm taking John turkey hunting tomorrow and if the good Lord smiles upon us we will get a bird and complete Johns trifecta of Va. fun.

Nuts,
Just woke up having my little "problem" and had to pop the Atarax/Atenelol/Clonazepam cocktail. Its a doozy.
Please tell John sorry but I'm not gonna make it this afternoon. If I sleep through his departure tell him I had a blast, wish him a safe trip and look forwatd to his return in the near future.
I wonder if I just let myself get too run down and this is the end result although it seems trying to find the reason is like a dog chasing its tail.

Thanks pal

Gorgeous ride yesterday. Today, well, not so much. I left in the wet and dealt with fog, rain, lightning, wet NUTS and all the trimmings. 45 degrees and steady downpours as I past Floyd, sheesh, this motorbiking thing must be an addiction. I think I talked my brother into the Buell trackday though!

Nuts,
No gobbler chasing for me.
After yet another emergency parent meeting tonight I have been drafted as the "instructional director" for the 12U girls. Pretty snazzy title huh?
I have to run ball practice each weekday that they don't have a game. I will however be free on game days since I still refuse to be a coach.
It was either agree to teaching the girls the fundamentals or the team was calling it quits. As much as I don't want to do it the girls shouldn't have to suffer because of the parents.
Have a safe trip and take plenty of photos!

What you sporting there Tank? Is that a pair of Jackson/Charvel?
My favorite guitarist, Oz Fox, used them during his time of fame in the late 80's.
So can you play them or was it a passing thing?

Charlie,
Nuts can barely tolerate us as it is. If we brought those along it would push the friendship over the cliff .

On the left is a 96 Jackson Stealth TH1. Don't see too many.

On the right is what I believe to be an 86-87 Japanese made Charvel Model 3, with a transplanted Floyd Rose tremelo. I "saved" it from a pawn shop about 2003 or so. The p.o. painted all the tuning pegs and part of the trem flourescent orange, and it was a bit of a basket-case. Cleaned/fixed it up and it sounds better than the Stealth. Different tools for different jobs, I guess.

I wouldn't say that I "play" them...
More like "play with" them.
Just another closet-hobby I like to tinker with once in a while.

So, how bout' you Torts. Aspirations of starting your own hair band??

Due to male pattern baldness my hair band days are over .
Actually my oldest daughter wants me to teach her how to play so we went browsing yesterday to find her something she liked. Since I figured she will get bored with it I told her I would match whatever she put in to it so I could play it when she is done.
First one she locked on to was, oddly enough, a Jackson KV2 flying V but I couldn't convince her to plunk down the $600.00 for her half.
Looked at a Les Paul and a Paul Reed Smith as well but she once again wouldn't budge off the $1100.00 for her half.
After wandering around we stumbled upon the above slightly used ESP/LT KH202 which caught her eye. For such a reasonably priced guitar it is remarkably well built. The action is super low and those twin humbuckers WAIL heavy metal type noise.

My playing now consists of a mixed audience ranging from 5 to 95 at the local church. Each Christmas (except this past one) me and a few old friends give them a fine rendition of Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24 by Trans Siberian Orchestra. Oddly enough the old people actually enjoy it as well.

Just got back from a wonderful evening spent with my 9 year old.
We decided to spend a few hours getting some more miles on the ATV so I can go ahead and do the break in maintenance.
I let her drive for the entire 2 hours with me on the back and she had a blast.
Now she is hitting me up for some sort of motorized vehicle and since I matched my older daughter on the guitar she figures I owe her the same on an ATV or dirtbike.
I didn't know I was setting myself up for more out of pocket expense .
I'm honestly not sure I want her to be exposed to the risks that come along with riding solo and doing her own thing without me sitting right behind her.

Looks like she already has one!

So what will you take hunting? Got some sort of military spec baja buggy in the works, or what??

p.s. the TSO is some powerful music. Careful with that stuff.

TSO is powerful indeed. In fact they ruined my musical abilities because ALL I ever do is play their music each time I pick up a guitar to the exclusion of everything else.
Chris Caffery and Al Pitrelli are a couple of virtuosos and the two of them playing together is magical.
I can run almost all of Cafferys' licks and many of Pitrellis' but some of their arpeggios/sweep picking runs require me to improvise a bit.
Speaking of arpeggios check out some Yngwie Malmsteen on Youtube. While you are there type in New Canon Rock and check out this young kid from Europe. It will blow your mind.

On another note you may be surprised to know that our very own Nuts knows Mark Tremonti formerly of Creed on a personal level.

I agree 100% Charlie. I am extremely over protective of both my young uns' which is surprising because I had a VERY free childhood. Then again looking back on all the trouble I got into and the brushes with disaster maybe that has something to do with it .
My 13 year old is heading to Canada on a mission trip in less than a month and I am more nervous about it than she is. Standing in the way of the Gospels is bad juju though so I gotta let her go .
In the end I'll probably get my youngest a motorized toy but I ain't gonna be happy about it

You know you could get her a"motorized toy" and teach her the right way or let her go to a friends house who happens to have one and try it on her own.If it's in yer blood, it's in yer blood. Besides she would be a good riding buddy when the Nuts isn't around. You are the coach arn't ya?

Charlie just sticks it to ya every time.

Go Charlie!

I have to say that watching the kid try to do the things that I tried to do, wrenches my gut into impossible knots. Totally unnerving, even for a cool head like me.

I guess you gotta learn somehow.

As for the git-fiddle, I learned a bunch of cool riffs and rythms. I even learned about half of Randy Rhoads "Dee". I started trying to figure out two handed hammer/pulls and got confused with the scales. I never learned to read music, just played by ear, and feel, and TAB! I just never could get the transitions right. Fat, short fingers.

Charlie,
As always you speak sound wisdom. I'm in the process of looking through the manufacturers offerings and seeing what is available.

Tank,
Nothing wrong with playing off of tablature or by ear. I do that myself with most pieces and usually end up making slight changes that suit my personal taste.
If you know most of the common riffs then you already know scales even if you don't realize it. They are built off of scales or slight variations.
A few night sessions of music theory at the local community college will go a long way in explaining chord building and scale relations. That or it will bore you to death .

I'm with Charlie..

We need pics of the new Uly, taken by a trusted source. But Jackie will do.

Got the shock on the bike, but the place is apparently only open on Saturday.

It scared me again. That bigger 45T rear sprocket makes a HUGE difference. I can now creep through the woods like the 250, and pinning the throttle in first is now a real bad idea. Haven't mustered up the balls to try it in second.
