Parking a motorcycle outside overnight is about the unwisest choice to make.

Tell me you already got all your money for the bike!?

Did the guy even lock the fork?

BTW new at this site... i've had my 2001 X1 Lightning for about a year after my wife secretly went to TX to get it as a father's day gift(J knew about and didn't tell me $h!t)... Got hit a month later by a distracted senior citizen coming out of a QT and the bike spent the next 4 months at Gail's HD(from July to Nov 07) for repairs cause Gail's kept messing up when ordering the parts... looking forward for the summer to start riding it again... or do you think God was trying to tell me something?

Yes, God has told me more than once to work on my own bike, or at least steer clear of that particular service department.

Yeah, Drake I didn't let him take the bike until his check cleared. The lien was paid off the day before the bike was stolen, and he should receive the title in about 2 weeks...... To make matters even worse he had decided to save money on insurance and didn't get full coverage. I really hope he finds the bike so that he doesn't have to pay for it over the next couple years without even having a bike to show for it. A lesson learned is a lesson learned, but at only about 21-22 years old that is a way to learn one. I guess he found out there is a guy in his apartment complex that is a suspect in a bike theft ring, so we'll see if that pans out for him.

I guess you could say he got it for a steal! Sorry had to do it. You would think that bike would be easily identifiable. Keep an eye out on ebay and craigslist just in case.

I agree Drake, he atleast needs to rent a storage bay or something to keep it locked up.

Maybe the kid is lying and it's an insurance fraud thing.

If that isn't the case then I hope he gets it back in fewer than a dozen or so pieces.

Yeah, I thought about the insurance fraud thing too, but you can't pull insurance fraud with only liability coverage...... At this point he is out the bike and the money.

Well, I want another bike, but at this point I don't need another bike. I'll get one when I find the right deal and I have the cash. Right now just isn't the time for me to have a bike.

I think my next bike will be a motard..... I'm keeping my eyes open for a CR 450X for a decent price that I can convert in to a sweet hooligan ride.

Yeah, I've heard good and bad things about the DRZ. From what I've been able to find online the CR 450X has quite a bit more power than the DRZ, and it doesn't kill you on maintenance like a CR450F would.

A buddy of mine has a DRZ-400SM and loves/hates it. He likes it for riding around his neighborhood, but hates it for anything else. He never participates in any group rides and always stays close to home because his tricked out SM bike simply can't keep up and has ridiculously short legs. If, like my friend, you're only going to allow yourself one bike, I would not recommend a SM bike. YMMV, of course.

However, if you just have to have one, I would recommend 650cc or larger. I'm no SM-guy, but I can 'back it in' on my 650L with DOT knobbies and it is not unbearable on the freeway for short hops. I have given some thought to converting it, but had to ask myself, "wtf for?"

The obvious advantage to these bikes is the ability to circumnavigate public roads when traffic is tight.

Well I no longer am a Buell owner
Sold the X1W to a kid in Omaha. He is an idiot and will no doubt try to become a harpoon missle into a minivan on it or some other brainfart and hand full of throttle stupidity.
I let it go too cheap, but did get some decent guns and gunsmithing parts out of the deal.
I have still got my FXR and was out riding it today.

Maybe your conscience will be cleared from someone stealing the bike from the kid. I was worried about the kid that bought my bike killing himself and/or someone else with it, but then it was stolen within 48 hours and now my conscience is clear....

Yeah, well I already thought of that

I feel sorry for the bike, she was alot of fun, he will probably tear it up, or already has. But the FXR is much easier to maintain and find parts for, handles good and is much better for road trips.
I gotta tell you guys here on Badweb. Riding with a pack of the KC Mob from OVPK to Ralph Waynes, sounding like a group of P40 Thunderbolts coming across the I435, exhaust echoing off the k barriers, oh yeah, sweet. Glad we all got to experience it.
says it all

Yeah that's what the XRL was made for, but I'm guessing you didn't have to push the XBR very hard to catch me on the freeway.

Hehe no not really. I thought about catching you on the on-ramp by passing everybody on the outside of the curve. I resisted my immaturity : )

Furthermore I got to ride a KTM 625 SMoto lastnite at fuel. Needless to say I had some fun on that bad boy. Good thing the cops weren't around to witness the shennanigans. Best part was, it still had a 30-day tag.

I think every one should ride a dual sport as a second or third bike. Although, the world would most likely be total chaos if everyone rode dual sports.

KTM makes the best DS/SM bikes around IMHO. I would definitely have one if I couldn't get a good'ole reliable Honda with all the farkle for less than half.
