Tripp,"Grainger" and "MSC" industrial supply is only one block north of Precision.

Go see them and ask for Permatex "Thread SEALANT"..Be prepared,a small tube is like $25.

well, it's leaking cause i'm a hack mechanic, however, i'm gonna pull it all apart one more time and use the suggested sealant and i hope to be done with it, i am getting better at pulling all apart, 1st time 3hrs, 2nd hour and a half, maybe this time 45min? probably not but we'll see, i have a swimming pool liner replacement i'm helping my brother with today, so i'll probably do the bike tomorrow morning we'll see.
my mom's doing o.k., she still has pain but it was'nt a heart attack or stroke thank God. thanks for asking!

Tripp...I wouldn't suggest allowing Eric and Jim over to 'work on the bike' at the same time...they start getting all giggly and start 'doing stuff' together...

The bike will either get no attention or get messed up more...it will be all black and have spikes all over it!

I finally got through the Eric's stirings on the Drummer thread...I put my $2.00 in (it was a bit longer the $0.02). Happy reading...I look forward to the next surge of gossiping an poking and circle jerking of everybody chiming in with the same crap over and over again.

But the underlying argument is still yet to be resolved: Which is better, Peanut Butter or Jelly?

I did the Run of the Charles Canoe & Kayak race with my company; start time was 8am. I had to check in to see if I was missing a ride, but I forgot that youse guys are fair-weather Bad Weather Bikers.

...And I wonder how much longer the Princess Bouncy-Bouncy post will last before the PC Police take it out?

This is what I rec'd the other day from TTD---

Rain or dry, the same basic techniques apply.

The main difference is that in the dry, you can screw up and sometimes get away with it.

Braking: You want to roll off the gas earlier than normal, and apply light front brake first... then progressively squeeze. The light brakes will allow the front tire to squat some... enlarging the contact patch. It will also "dry" up the rotors so that when you squeeze harder, it will be a linear feel.

Corner Entry: In the dry, you want to countersteer pretty hard to get the bike turned. In the wet, I still countersteer, but it's done more gently.
Be sure to have your body in the right position BEFORE you countersteer. This will be smoother and not upset the suspension.

Once you initiate the corner, try to take as much weight as possible off the bars... just keep enough to "click" on the throttle.

Corner exit... Click , Click , Click ... With each small "step" of applying throttle, make sure the tire is hooking up before applying another one. As you get better, the delay between the clicks will shrink to almost nothing.

Relax, breathe, relax, breathe... Force yourself to relax your arms and shoulders. Be aware of your breathing. Make sure you're not riding around all tense and worked up.

Again, all of this is the exact same stuff you should be doing anyway. This is why rain riding can help people... it forces them to concentrate on the details that make a good rider. When the track dries out... you will find yourself more aware of what the tires are doing and how your actions affect the bike, suspension, etc.

Each lap on a wet track should get a little smoother and a little faster as you explore the traction limits. If you don't have warmers, make sure to do a full two laps to warm up the rubber. When the rubber is warm, it meshes into the grooves in the pavement and acts as a positive interlocking bond... so you're not just relying on the surface friction.

No problem Eric - any time.

Some good reading??? Do tell...a book on technique? Living as a straight biker when you are really gay? How much modification is too much?

Just finished my first 2 races for the year. It rained all morning but dried off before my first race. I didn't get to run any practices because I didn't have rain tires and I didn't want to risk it.

My first race I wheelied on the start and messed up quite a bit as I was relearning the track. In lap 3, I missed my braking mark for turn 3 and ran through an escape way. The corner workers kept asking me what was wrong, and I kept yelling that everything's fine and I need to get back out. That cost me a minute and change. The following lap was my fastest for that race. I finished last.

The next race, I got a decent start and ran pretty consistantly. I didn't have any incidents and finished 3rd.

The bike ran great, and even though I was very tired and sore, I felt pretty good. I still need to learn the track, and I think that tomorrow I will be able to get a bit faster.
