I have to agree with whoever said that 100% embroidered looks nicer.

Tank
That was with me the 100% embroidered.

Mel

With C3 they optioned between 100, 200 and 300. I know they are larger but i feel having only 3 patches we will be wanting more in a short period of time and it gives you patches to trade with other buellers. Also in bulk you will probally get a better cost per patch with a slighty over total cost. JMHO

I have posted up on the patch thread I vote to do like kristi is doing at C3.

There are a few items in that post that I hope will bring up discussion. Please read it and post as needed

Well.... it looks like 3 is the winner.... so, I'll get the ball rolling.

I guess if you've got Paypal, you can send your $15.00 to MelvinByrd@Hotmail.com.

If not, just hand me the cash when we get together next time.

Mel

I tried to contact you today about the patches because I had a few questions I would have liked to be answered before committing on the patch vote. What I am about to post is not a personal attack on anyone but just a fews points I would like to air. I do not agree with the idea of being one of the original contributing people on this project to fully finance the order of patches and only receiving three so some one later can purchase individual patches at $10.00 per patch from a surplus of patches left over from the original order. If I or any one is going to be part of the complete financing of the initial patch order then all patches paid for should be distributed to all initial paying parties for them to do with them as they see fit. if patches are sold individually where does the money for the patch go an how will it be used. the next item since you submitted the artwork have you made a full size image so you or the rest of us can see exactly what the patch would look like in the choosen size of 3" ? I think it will be smaller and more crowed than you might like. I would suggest sizing the design onto a post or link in the 3.00", 3.50",3.75" and 4.00" sizes and let us vote on what looks best. I thank you for your efforts but these are my concerns and I am holding off on committing until I feel I have the answers I need to make a choice

No Prob Mike....

To answer your questions:

The number of total patches would be distributed equally among the Initial Contributors. (All of this assumes that we get enough people to cover the total cost.) I would not assume that everyone we ride with even wants a patch so it's difficult for me to see demanding participation in getting them. So in effect, this is purely voluntary. Basically, I figured that up to 15 people could help fund this project. (ok realistically 16) but at 15 folks, that means we would only have enough patches (50 minimum) for everyone to get 3 patches. If we did have 15 then the "Prepay amount is roughly $10.00 plus or minus S&H.
Should only 6 people decide to participate then each would put in a minimum of $15.00 (don't want to break anyone) and I would put in the remaining $60.00. The patch company doesn't really care, they just want to get paid. I figure that if we don't get enough contributers to fully fund the purchase, then I would be responsible to make up the difference. Of course the end goal would be to recoup my contribution.

As far as the size is concerned, Option 1 was a 2.5" and you are correct, that may have been a bit small. 3" is about the size of the "Eye of Thunder" patch that Todd has now. 4" is the size of a DVD/CD which I personally think would be to large for the amount of information that we have in the patch. When requesting the quotation, I only asked for a 3" patch. I can go back to them and request pricing for the 3.25" and 3.5" to see what the cost difference is. Unfortunately, if we get a "Sew-Out" to see what it's going to look like and THEN we change our minds, there is a $50.00 fee (if I understand their website correctly)

So maybe at our next gathering we should sit down and make all of these decisions before proceeding further.

I am also open to suggestions, I don't know how I got the title "Patch Guy" but I'm happy to do it. You guys feel free to tell me what you really want, if not the end goal of getting patches is the direction I'll take.

Mel

There should be no reason why you or anyone else pay a larger amount due to the number of participating member in order to meet a minimal order. get all the commitment for prepayments in and divide the cost equally. then let the committed people aware of the cost. myself personally would like more than 3 patches. the idea with the artwork was not to have sew outs done of each size but from the artwork you have designed size it in the different sizes on a computer file and make a link available for viewing to the HRH members to choose. not being a computer guy I think it would just enlarging the image until the selected sizes are reached.

I am getting like 15 patches for $30.00 from C3 and i think it was a 200 patch order between 16-18 people over cost of $2.00 patch is not bad. Will I use them all? most likely not but I will have a good amount to trade around the BadWeb with other groups.

If you can post up the art work in the different sizes see we all can view I will be happy to take over the Patch Guy duties.

Thanks again

Mike

Ok... here they are.. (the best I could do) Printed them all out at the actual print size and used a standard DVD for comparison.

Looks real good real god thanks.

I like both the 3.5 and 4.0 inch sizes and either one is good for me, count me in on prepay. 3.5 is the best size I think

i'm good with the 3.5, but you won't hear any complaints from me if it's not the majority vote.

Hell,
I'm ready to just scrap the whole thing, Put Hampton Roads on top (half circle), Hooligans on bottom (half circle), and thundercat in the middle(HRHMC). Both the 3.5 and 4 are good. But I think the 3.5 would do better if you want to put it on something.

Hey- I'm the goon who started this whole patch thing over at NEBO. I'd like to trade up one of yours for one of ours, but I'm all out. How much you want for one shipped to MA? And if anyone wants to trade, post up on the NEBO board... I know quite a few of us wound up with more patches than they needed.

Ahhhhh! now we know who's responsible!!! Actually Scotty, we're a bit in limbo as we have not made a final decision yet. I think we are close, but we still need to pull the trigger. But when we do we'll post up in the NEBO Group to let you know.

Sweet. Thanks! And if I could make a design suggestion: how about "Hampton Road" and "Hooligans" as rockers above & below the thundercat?
