On Saturday 18 Aug I have a biker's wedding party to attend over in Richmondville that will tie up most of that day. However, for those that may choose not to ride down to York for that gathering is anyone up for a ride this coming Sunday? It is a little far off for weather forecasting however it looks good so far.

Ricochet, I'm one of the guys doing glassblowing demos at the museum, chances are good you saw me at work last summer.

The york trip sounds great, quite a nice ride down there, I'd be up for it if I can get Satruday off.

Got the new issue ofFuell in the mail today. I was quick to notice that my Uly with me on board is the bike closest to the camera in the shot on page eight of the group riding around the Road America course during Homecoming 2007. Just had to mention that one! Also wanted folks to know that Dick Fish, the owner of the Buell featured in the article starting on page twelve, is riding a Uly, the only Buell in this years running of the Iron Butt Rally which is currently in progress with the finish this coming Friday. As of yesterday, he still has a chance of finishing very well. Those that may be interested in following the IBR can check daily posts at http://www.ironbuttrally.com/IBR/2007.cfm

I have not met Dick, but would like to some day. He is a very accomplished Adventure Touring Rider! I am almost (probably less than 1/100 of an inch to go) to the wear bars on the rear tire at about seven thousand miles. I ordered new tires that I am waiting for.

I got 5500 out of my OE Dunlop rear. My front has at least 50% left. Are you going with the same tires?

Dick had a weak first leg, looks like he is headed to Alaska looking for the big bonus points!

Godspeed Dick!!!!

You got about what I did with the Dunlops so I switched to the Pirelli Scorpion Sync. I got almost 50% better miles out of them. Since the Scorpion Syncs are advertised as a road tire not a dual purpose tire and since I have a couple rather taxing on pavement rides I'd like to do this Fall; I went with the Pirelli Diablo Strada Extended Mileage Sport Tire. They reportedly have a new compound that guarantees an immediate warm-up at low temperatures so that cold & wet pavement is not a problem; handling & grip are suppose to be consistent in all weather conditions. If all that is true and if they offer "Extended Mileage" as advertised I may like them. We'll have to see.

As of the last report Dick is doing ok. Tomorrow's report should include a call in by him indicating his location and intended next destination. Friday's check-in is fast approaching!

I have gone with another rear Dunlop, The front is to good to throw away.
I think I will do the Avon's for mine when I go to street rubber.

I noticed how your tires worked on the Stillwater road.

Just for those interested parties, we received word today that Buell of Utica will be receiving 3 1125R models sometime in November (exact production / ship dates not released yet).

Ricochet, Thanks for the compliment! You probably will not believe this but Trapper and I made up time on that road during our Iron Butt ride.
The Ulysses is made to just run in those condition's.

alright boys, so homecoming 2008 is on my mind. Apparently its on the mind of the factory as well since they posted a bunch of info on the website.

The official 'Host Hotel' is in Brookfield... a suburb of Milwaukee. 45 mins from east troy and an hour and a half from Elkhart lake. (FYI Steve... its about 1:20 from Sheboygan)

It doesn't really seem close to anything at all. I realize this year is different because of summerfest so we'll have to play it by ear.

Let me know what you guys think.

Matt

Just got my internet up and working! My computer system has not been working right since early Fall. Wow, I had No idea how much I'd miss it!

I'd sure like to ride out for Homecoming. I really enjoyed the ride and the company this past July!!!!

However, I am not sure of the situation for July, yet. It maybe March or so before I know if I'll be able to take that putt. Got my fingers crossed, though.

I'm all in for Homecoming this year.

Has anyone started thinking about a route to get out there, yet?

I'd like to get my bike signed, too : ) After seeing your pics last year, Matt, I was totally jealous : )

The route we took last year seemed to work well, the fairy was a well needed break. (nothing like taking a 3 hour nap to get recharged for the evening events)

I, sure Erik will have his marker ready again!

I also would like to ride out for Homecoming. Last years routes were okay however I get bored easily and may try something different and meet you all there if that would be okay? I understand that the format may be different this year. I think I read some where that instead of the talks at the factory, some of the activities were going to be at a hotel? Reservations may be in order?

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this other than Toona... But over in the Res Ride forum, there is a link to the 3rd Annual Sport-touring.net Region 6 "Meet and Eat" at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA: home of the Worlds Largest Hamburger.

It sounds like a pretty good time. Anyway, is anyone thinking of going to this? It might be a good way to stretch our legs after the winter.

my $0.02.

I've reserved my room at the Host hotel, arriving 2 Jul and departing on 7 Jul. I guess that means I'm committed as well. Or is that should be committed; as my wife keeps telling me?

The "Meet and Eat" at Dennys Beer Barrel Pub sounds like something I'd like to ride to. However, I may take a putt out to Calif the week before and may not be back. But, if I'm around I most definitely would like to ride down there if for no other reason than to see a really BIG hamburger. I'd like to try their Elk Burgers, too.

The link is...

But it's just a post at the end of the link. The post has a link over to sportouring.net. You have to be a member to view the topic, I think... but registration was a snap.

I'll ride down with ya, if I can get the weekend away. Do you guys want to do this as the first group ride of the season?

I was over at Utica HD yesterday. My primary mission was to look for and/or purchase a new helmet for my grandson. On the way over he asked if he could get one with flames and I kinda blew him off. It just so happens, one of the only two suitable helmets they had actually had flames, So we bought it (It is a flip front style). Since we are planning a ride to California next month, while he is on Spring break I had also thought about picking up some spare parts to take, because dealers seem to keep only a bare minimum of Buell items on hand I figured I'd have to order what I wanted. Thought it best to bring some items rather than be stuck somewhere for who knows how long waiting for a fan or belt! Any way, I went to the parts counter to pay for the helmet and order parts. After having to wait more than ten minutes to talk with a clerk (They were having a sale & had the place full of folks, mostly just looking however)I decided to also get out the coupon for the neck gaiter I had downloaded, after seeing it advertised, not only on line, but in several motorcycle magazines. And Utica HD/Buell, as usual was listed as a participating dealer. SUPRISE, I was informed they did not get any to give out as Buell has advertised! This has happened to me every time I have seen one of these give aways advertised and I am always told they don't know why they never got a shipment. They (The Mgr) has told me he orders the stuff but they never get any. I think he lied and they(Utica HD/Buell) just do not even try! I got so upset I forgot about ordering the several hundreds of dollars in spares I was going to get. I remembered when I was almost home (a 40+ mile drive in my gas guzzling pickup). Maybe I should just order them from somewhere that actually supports Buell riders and not just wants some of their money, If they want to come buy a bike. Heaven knows the sales folks there seem to ignore folks looking at the few Buells they have on display. But I saw them jumping at folks that even hesitated near a Road King or Classic.

according to the weather guy on the cable channel it sounds like it is suppose to be mostly sunny on Sunday. I wonder how much salt they dumped this morning? I am planning a ride out to the west coast in a couple weeks, so I need to get out a little just to make sure everything is working right. How about checking in here Saturday evening and make the call then. I am going for a putt in the PM Sunday, regardless.

I know there is a ton of salt on my road from todays little snow. Plus my drive way is packed snow again, I do not know if it clear by Sunday. I will plow and salt just in case the road cleans up.

Sunday PM turned out to be a little nippy however the riding was better than I expected. North of the thruway there was not a lot of salt on the roads, however there was more than a little sand in the twisties that made it prudent to not really get in to them, yet. Felt good to get out for awhile. The heated grips made the low forties/high thirties temps not so uncomfortable.
