Tank,
The scouting trip was a blast! The Jeep trail was closed but we found a little road that will surely have you smiling and/or picking up your bike a lot. Mud, ruts, holes, soccer ball sized rock. FUN STUFF MAN!!
Here are a few pics for you and Charlie to enjoy. I didn't snap any of the funky little road since we were having too much fun but ya'll will be happy to know the bike now has mud on it

Whoo wee! Tank is gonna show with new, unbroken in tires. That should make for some good photo opportunities.
Mine finally settled in after 100 miles of road and dirt use. Still suck in deep gravel but hook up like a champ in everything else. There was one spot where we went through some thick gravy and they broke loose but other than that I am pleased.

Compared to what I'm used to...

Anything will be welcomed as an improvement.

The babyDR has new shoes, and they were impressive! Yes I did(in the woods).

I think the Dunlops might be too much tire for the 650??

I thought I did pretty good, only stalling in the one creek. And after that, there was no way in hell I was going to let it stall again. It tried, but I was more stubborn. Dry and fast, back to the truck.

This time ya'll better watch out. Revenge will be sweet. There will be enough bikes out there, you will never see it coming.

And yes, I am selling if the dude wants it. I have been totally honest and up-front with the condition and ailments.
Breaks my heart to sell anything, but stuff has to go.

Anybody want a white Bolt??
(p.s. I have agreed to sell, but if he doesn't want it, I might just keep it)

Between Nuts riding lead, me sweeping and you falling in every mud hole you'll never get us MWAHAHAHAHA!! If anything Charlie will get a BUNCH of photos of you sopping wet covered in Thanksgiving gravy.
Maybe revenge will be had on the Hatfield McCoy trip. Then again ask Nuts what kind of roost my knobbie is throwing. He said it was digging trenches like a backhoe .
If your behind me at a mudhole (don't wanna sling gravel on you and the new ride*) you're done buddy

Tank,
You can go around that tiny little thing but there are at least two holes that go from one side of the trail to the other. In all honesty we rode the very edge of them so we still don't know how deep they are. Could be 6 inches or 3 feet. You can bet Jason or I will be taking video of the group coming through them. who knows we might end up with a picture worthy of the front page of Adventure Rider if somebody decides to go through the middle.
I nominate you as the test pilot

Guess not on a dirt bike.

Yep, I dun gone krazy...

I filled my new boots up with water, dumped the water out, and I'm wearing them.

It's working!! They're stretching nicely, a bit squishy, but...

Tank,
I gotta ask, how did you find out it didn't have a tipover switch ?
I've never owned a dirtbike or dualsport that had a tipover switch. They just keep running until the wheel runs out of momentum and lugs the motor dead. If the gas is pinned the rear wheel will dig an impressive rut as it tries to stand itself back up and take off without you. Unfortunately I have experienced that scenario myself on an XR250 that hated me.
Owning that bike was a constant battle. It tried to kill me on numerous occassions while I tried my best to kill it every time I went on a ride .
I've said it before but it bears repeating, I miss being young and immortal. Now all I think about when I ride is if the fun factor of a sailing off a big berm is worth the pain should it go horribly wrong

By the time we are done with you those boots will feel like an old friend (especially if the Jeep trail is open).

If you gotta ask...

Rounded the end of the fallen tree, not enough momentum, foot in hole. 350lbs of bike has to remove rider, who steps off. 0mph spill...bike still spinning tire in first gear, laying wheels up-hill.

Hit kill switch, took deep breath, picked it back up with no trouble. Started her up and continued. Jeans still smell like gas.

Oh man,
Sorry to hear your new bike lost her virginity . Now that you have had your way with her remember to still treat her like a lady.

Nuts and I are contemplating heading up on Thursday night to set up camp and make sure everything is in order since we can't use the main campground. It all depends on if he is working or not. I'll make sure to keep you informed and if you so choose you could meet us that evening and save the hotel money to buy us a nice meal .

I'd be happy to buy Ya'll dinner!

And I'm with you on the "get the spot early" thing.

But I still have to spend the $80 to go take a shower, to get the next three nights free, whenever I come back to terrorize the Noke' next time.

I decided the grill is more important than the sale of the 250. I might make an extra trip. They both won't fit in the trailer. I haven't told "dude" yet. I don't have the main jets for it yet either. UPS says tomorrow.

The right tools make it soooo much easier...

No, there's no wheels on the bike. It's levitating there, solidly.

Tank,
Don't let the grill come between you and the money wagon. If you need to bring the baby DR instead of the grill we can cook over the the fire or ride to the little restaurant a few miles up the road.
I'm sure we will find a use for the grill this year. I figure after this trip you will be making the voyage to Roanoke every other month to ride the other 99.5 percent of the trails we won't be riding. The OHV trails open in June so another trip will be in order (just the 3 of us on that one since we try to keep it top secret) and the Hatfield McCoy fiasco.
Should be a Spring/Summer chock full o' adventure!

Oh Charlie if you only knew...
Once you see the pictures of the upcoming ride you'll probably pack up and head on back yourself. If you don't want to sell your house down there you are welcome to park a trailer in the field beside my house. It won't have running water but I'll throw you an extension cord out there and let you use the shower once a week for the low, low price of $499.99 a month or the occassional use of the Buell. Whichever you prefer .

It must be like a subliminal magnet...

I have already experienced an unusual urge to move to Roanoke. I can't explain it.
I couldn't live in the city, though. Somewhere up the hill, off the beaten path is where I need to be.

If I actually ever leave here. Maybe one day, my dreams of un-ending twisties and work near home will collide. But for now, Here is where it's all garaged.

Charlie,

Maybe I can convince the fellas' to make a group trip down, just so I can meet the myth. Or we can plan a trip in the middle somewhere. North Georgia comes to mind??

You gotta get out, dude! Almost as bad as me!(or not so bad as me??)

Charlie,
I am depressed! I make a kind gesture and you want no part of it. Alright I'll lower the rental rate to $499.00 and throw in a bucket and a roll of toilet paper. It just don't get much better than that
