Welcome back Larry. Can't wait to ride with you again.

1313 - It wasn't on a motorcycle, but a few years back I had to go to a SME conference in Convington Ky. Being just across the river from Cincinnati I asked if I could drive my own car up and stay with family. Like in your situation, I got a lot of confused looks. There was no policy against it, but they would only reimburse me the amount that would be paid for the air fair and hotel, around $400.00. Even though it was a 1300 mile round trip I agreed since gas was around $2.00 a gallon then and I had a Toyota Camry at the time. On Sunday I headed out and drive to my Mom's house just north of Cincinnati. The next morning I drove the 12 miles to the conference and looked for the rest of the group from Kinston. I could not find any of them. I decided to meet up with some folks I know from the home office in Ohio and go to the first meeting. During the break I get a call from our plant manager. Their connecting flight from Charlotte to Cincinnati was cancelled and instead of spending the night there they opted for a return flight to Kinston. None of the others from our plant made it to the conference. That was a fun conversation with the VP of Manufacturing. I get back from the conference later that week and had to rib the plant manager, "You know Air Toyota never cancels flights. You should have purchased a seat with us."

Finally, ready to do some miles! Corsa III's are on and scrubbed in. They feel great! Oils are changed. Shifter leak is fixed. Sliders are on, 'aint taking no more chances after what almost happened in Oct. Handguards are back on, and bike is all spiffed up. Also had a "Nebo" patch sewn on my jacket. They are cool! Hope we can get some C3 patches soon. I think I will mount the rubber X I lucked out on with a real small bead of silicone. I plan on making a mold of it later on. But most important to me, I've lost 10 lbs. off the gut. Down to 170 now. Only 5 more to go, and it won't be easy. See yall people sometime Friday. If the weather looks okay, I plan on doing the Dragon run Friday at 9. Later!!!

Twig - sounds like you're ready! I think I'm going to ask Scotty_j where they had their patches done. We'll have to have a commitment from people for the money upfront, but I like the idea of a C3 patch. Wait until you see what we have new for MBV!

Kristi, I'm sure quite a few of us will be interested in a patch. Most likely, the Nebo patch wasn't easy to have made. Lots of detail, but they turned out great. Very high quality.

My "new to me" Buell is almost ready for MBV. I look forward to seeing ya'll and showing it to ya. We should be up about noon Friday. Trailering with Rachel and Pete.

I rode 5 hours of good hard dirt/sand riding yesterday with 5 guys from Advrider. 16,000 miles on the HP2 now and it never ceases to amaze me. I had numerous runs well over 100 mph in loose sand roads, lots of tight technical woods riding, water crossings ... man it was fun. That bike's a force of nature. I have full on knobbies on one of the dirt wheelsets and man will it bite and roost. Having the 65,000 acre Gamelands here is a blessing.

Man, I think I am doing something at 50mph.

Our mod for MBV is the trailer. After last year's S2 attempted dive off the trailer, Webe and I decided to beef up the front end. It's good having a fabricator as a friend, in about three hours we squared off the front, reinforced the side rails, added tie downs front and back, added a trailer jack and added a license plate bracket for about $50 worth of parts and steel. I am in the process of painting it. Its nothing fancy, rattle cans in the yard which is a pain with all the pollen. Over all the trailer looks good, pulls even better since the frame is now more rigid and we added a little tongue weight.

Hey M2, It's a rush and the wind is incredible as I'm always standing while riding off-road. The guys said that when I'd blow by accelerating in 4th, the beast was putting out a roost about 4 foot high and 40 feet long. Insanity.

Rubberdown, I was down your way yesterday. You were obviously out riding, but I did get an omlet for my troubles.

I took the Blast, that's it's longest trip since being reassembled. I'm about ready to believe that it isn't going to blow up.

So I do not know how often Spike rides his 50, but have to say we thoroughly wrung it out today. Yesterday I put Carlee on the bike and got her use to the controls. I rode it a bit. Tried my hand at wheelies with it. A lot easier to wheelie the little beast than I thought.

Today just as soon as we got back from church Carlee is asking me to pull out the 50.

She rides it a while then Luke and Baylee want me to ride them around.

We all take turns riding the bike for most of the afternoon. Only break the bike got was during chow time. I have to say with only an acre of land and a large portion of that wooded, our yard is a great place to ride that little bike. By the end of the day I am riding around the front of the house, down and off the driveway, then a figure eight in the side yard and back around. As it started to get dark, Kristi comes out and gets the kids inside. I am about to put the bike away when I see her eyeing the little beast. I ask her if she wants to ride it. Mind you, Kristi has never ridden a motorcycle in her life. She gives me a nod and within minutes she is putting around the yard. A fun way to spend Easter with the family. I guess I know what I will be looking for when tax money comes in.

I figured that this was the ultimate plan after a few laps in the yard....kinda like Spike borrowing Jim's Uly. Thought we were just helping Spike out. I'm beginning to think that it was Carlos' plan all along and I didn't see it coming.

Guess we'll have to have our own "fiddy" club like the 3%er's.

Over the river and thru the woods to grandmothers house for easter lunch on a borrowed bike...I borrowed the Honda ST1300 from work this weekend since the girlfriend doesn't like the XB back seat for a 500 mile ride. Thru snow, sun, and rain the ST did well for a super sports tourer that moonlights as a tug boat. With 7 gallons of gas per tank full fill ups are not recommended for people like me with a 28 inch inseam. We kept her up right and scratch free. Buell should take notice of the handlebar switch to modulate the windshield as the uly could benefit greatly from this. The heated hand grips were nice and the suspension plush enough even to support us as we rocketed at hwy speeds over a dead cat on I-40. (It was dark I never saw it and when I did it was too late.) More later after the news at 11.

Suarez family- The 50 is out to get you. : )

So I mounted up my new rear tire on Friday:

I don't think adventure riding will be quite the same now that I have a tire with tread on it. I decided to break in the new tire by taking the long way to Ray Price so I could get the bike inspected. I nearly wadded the bike twice on the way there. The first time was in my neighborhood. I was pulling away from a stop sign while turning right, I already had the clutch out and rolled into the throttle a bit only to have the rear end step way out. I suppose it would have been fun trying to explain how I high sided within a couple hundred feet of my driveway. The second time was on the cloverleaf at I40/440. I was putting in a few "laps" trying to scrub in the right side of the tire. I was still taking it easy as the rear had less than 50 miles on it, but as I was finishing one of the uphill corners I felt the front end start to push. It never went away completely, but I felt the steering get a little wonky as the bike started drifting wide. I lack the talent to consistently slide motorcycles on the street, so I decided to back off a bit and go get the inspection.

While I was there I decided it was a good day to ride someone else's motorcycle, so I took the 1125R out for a demo ride:

This really is a stunning motorcycle. The bottom end power isn't quite as strong as an XB12 and the bike sounds a bit thrashy at low rpm, but it still offers plenty of usable grunt down around 3k rpm. Running through the midrange up to 7k or 8k the bike feels really strong, more than enough for playing in the street. Rolling it wide open in 1st gear results in big power wheelies, high enough that I'd either back off the throttle or upshift. It's hard to accurately describe the handling on a bike like this after a test ride on the street. I rode it back to back with my XB12R on the track, so I know what the bike is capable of. On the street the whole package is just overkill. You just don't get anywhere near the limits of what the bike can do. Especially after climbing off of the Ulysses, riding the 1125R just makes you feel like you aren't even trying. If I were in the market for a new sport bike the 1125R would be at the top of my list.

I know what you mean Spike about scrubbing in new tires. I just had the rear tire replaced and you have to be real careful with the throttle while scrubbing in tires on the 1125R.
