Is anyone from our area going to Buell's 25th Anniversary celebration? I was looking into renting a house in the East Troy/Lake Geneva area for the week, but need to get an idea of who would be interested. Let me know!

My wife and I are going. I'm riding, she's driving. Dunno about a place to stay just yet; I'm holding off booking until I'm 110% sure we both have the time off. I'm in the planning stages of getting a group together to ride out. Nice thing about her driving is, she's bringing our Ram 2500 - spares, tiedowns, fuel, a "chase" truck, LOL.

House idea sounds cool, have you gotten any info yet?

Robin and I are already booked at the host hotel. Not sure when Joe's trip starts, but if it works we may be part of that land assault.. if not, we'll be an advance party (scouting party prior to the full on raid)..

Ratbuell, I looked at a few things on the internet. A four bedroom that sleeps up to 10 would run about $1500. Even if it were only 5 persons (1 per bedroom and the convertible sofa), thats only $300 per.

The only problem with East Troy acting as base camp is some of the activities, like racing at Road America, are an hour and forty minutes away. If you don't mind making that run back and forth then it isn't an issue. Last year, I stayed in Plymouth, which is next to the track, when the festivities went north and in Racine for the rest of the time. This year's Homecoming is larger and appears to be even more spread out. Hopefully, they will come out with a schedule, soon.

When we find out where the activities are, we can try to locate a house midway. I am just trying to find out who would be interested at this time.

Marlin - is that a total price for the week? I'm putting in for the whole first week off, 7/1-7/7. That beats the hell outta the host hotel's double room price of $90/night!

Rat, I have that whole week off as well! I've been looking on www.VRBO.com , Vacation Rentals by Owner. They list prices by the day, week or month. I found one that is available in Oconomowoc, #95045, sleeps 6-8 and is $1700 for the week, or one in Pewaukee, #136528, that sleeps 4 for $1000/week.

Marlin, how many in your group? My wife wants to make sure she has a room, doesn't want to sleep on a pullout for a week ;) Me, I'll sleep in a backyard and guard the keg if I need to, LOL.

Gonna have to check out the site, thanks for the link : )

Rat, I've got no one right now, that's why I started the thread. Still waiting to hear from the CABO group who haven't committed to a hotel!

I'm using my Marriott points. I just don't know what bike to take? Uly or the 1125R?

Also, Instead of going through Chicago, who would go across the lake on the ferry for I think $85? It takes three hours.

Hmmm.. I read a little about this ferry.. You think it's a better run to hit that as opposed to staying on the slab the whole way?

I think the ferry would be a better day-trip excursion once we're there. When I travel, I like to go till I get there, especially on a full-day drive. My wife hates it because "we never see anything on the way". LOL.

I have every intention of riding up there. I have no problem with traveling that far on my bike, but if I were to think practically, it's not the smartest thing in the world to run off on a 1,000mi road trip solo. So if anyone is looking to head up there, I'd like to tag along. Or you can just hook up with me and we'll go up that way. I don't have a hotel room or much of a plan, but I've found that I actually enjoy myself alot more on trips if I just wing it.
So if there's anyone else that hates having a plan, is willing to be extremely flexible, is willing to put some serious miles behind you and almost NONE of it on an Interstate, let me know.

Eric, you may want to make a hotel reservation.. as for the rest of the plan.. uh.. well.. so far we have an idea to ride/convoy/invade up there.. sort of, at some time.. kinda.. So far, it's as detail a plan as ever.. but I'm sure we'll hammer a few details out prior to leaving. Not sure, but we'll probably be doing more slab just to get UP THERE then do a bunch of putting around..

Heck, I wanna go to the H-D museum and see my 'Rivet'.. I wonder how many of them mention Buell? Hehehehee..

Well, once my buddy flakes out on me (like he always does) then I'll be able to commit to going up with someone else. Are you guys going up with a chase vehicle? Is this a big group? Is it the whole CABO?

Everytime I've made reservations of any kind, something horrible has gone wrong. It's either in the ghetto, the hotel overbooks, the place has caught on fire (that was a fun night) or my car got broken into. I know the place is gonna be jam-packed with Buelligans, but I don't mind driving away from the central action to have a place to crash. Drinking has never been my thing, so all I really have to do is stay conscious long enough to get on the road. And once I think I'm tired, I'm looking to go anyway.

I wouldn't mind slabbing it up in a group, but I hate it solo. Speeds are way to high, its no fun, and cagers are all talking on the phones, besides; America is all about the 'little places'. So I actually LIKE hitting all the itty bitty towns that time forgot. I was also thinking of running up into Canada and then jumping across Lake Michigan (not literally). Though if I did, it would be one hell of a show...

I went up last year by myself (wife doesn't count) slabbed out and back stopping to see family along the way. 1965 miles round trip in 12 days. Would be interested in going again this year if there is interest within the group.

For right now, there is a loose thought forming. RatBuell and I and I guess a few other crazies with wives and a couple of trucks and a trailer and.. well.. you're getting the picture .. Of course, it'll boil down to when and times and well.. for right now nothing is set.. yet.

Blu - we need to work on that. I've got an email coming for some folks about setting up meets once a month, and we can start planning things like sportfest and homecoming and more.

XB12 - my plan is to slab out as well. I want to get there as quick as I can, but I can't see going to a bike event in a cage LOL. Chances are very good that my wife will be chasing in the truck, "just in case" (and because she won't spend 14 hours on the back of the S2). That's the loose plan so far : )

XB9er, Alchemy and myself are making a trip out of it. We are trucking it with an enclosed trailer. We have reservations at the host hotel July 2-6. I'm waiting to hear back from Alchemy if his wife is coming, we may have room for a 4th person. Splitting costs 4 ways is better than 3 ways.

If all else fails, traveling in a convoy is always fun. If anyone is running solo, PM for my cell number if you need a rescue.

Ok, I'm booked at the Marriott Courtyard just a mile and a half away from the host hotel the Sheraton. I have a lot of points with Marriott so that's why I went that route. I'll planning on leaving on the 31st. or the 1st. and starting back on the 7th.

I need to check with CINC-House and see where we stand on the trip up and back ... I know she made the hotel reservations so I need to double check the dates. I'll report back once I've been briefed.

Well, in the interest of putting something concrete together...I'd like to publicly propose a monthly meet to discuss stuff like this, and other Buell Fun : ) I've talked about this with Blublak and Rasmonis, but I'll put it in the open for everyone.

Our (HD/Buell of Frederick) HOG chapter meets the third Thursday of every month. I'd like to start having a Buell meeting the following night - the third Friday of each month. We're open till 8 on Fridays anyway, so I figure maybe a 6 or 7 (loose) start time up until we either close or get kicked out by the manager on duty would be a good start.

What's everybody think?

I picked that night because it's easy to remember...everyone at the dealer will be able to recite "the night after the HOG meeting" if someone calls to ask about it, LOL.

Directions can be found at www.hdoffrederick.com. Let me know if you're interested and I'll make sure to have some hot coffee ready : )

You dudes have some strong butts and backs to ride straight through. After about 3-4 hours on my S, my butt can't take it anymore and that's with padded bicycle shorts and a Butt Buffer.

Hey Smiley, the fastest route up to East Troy is about 13 hours and that is all turnpike travel - no small towns. It's one big blur until you hit Chicago.

Hmmm.. Third Fridays.. That might work.. The only problem I can see for me, is since I don't get out of work until later in the day, and traffic up 15 can be a total cluster.. well.. that could mean a sucky ride up there.. but the ride home.. now that could be a nice evening jaunt..

We'll have to see what some other folks think.. But I'm sure I could make it too a few of these get togethers (with every thing else I'm doing now a days).. start hashing out some plans for rides and events and what nots.. Coolness..

Anyone else up for it?

I'd love to make a meeting to see some of you in person. I'm not really sure that the times will work for me since I'm more than an hour away and I don't get out of work until at least 5pm. With rush hour happening right around that time... you get the picture.
But yeah, I'm interested in a regular thing.

As long as it doesn't interfere with my riding that is.
