Charlie,
I got dibs on the Versys. You can have the Honda or what's left of the KTM .

Tank,
No need to worry about glue failure. We are gonna get you to write the names on everybodies jacket with a permanent Sharpie marker. That should make you a bunch of friends in a hurry .

Nutbag,
Here go a link to the National Forest map thing I was telling you about.
Being map illiterate I can't make sense of it so see what you can do with it.

It's like that, is it??

You know, there comes a time in a growing boy's life when he realises that too much gas is not the best thing. When it gets too hot and you have to shut down, or too cold that it just aint "cookin".

Sooo(yes I did)...

Just so happens that I need a new house grill, anyway. I'm bringing the new one for you, Jackie! If you were standing next to the old one while on...you might end up at the hospital. It's that seasoned, and decaying.

I remember that you said not to buy a new grill, but I couldn't help myself.

WHOOWEEE! That is a mans grill right there!
I bet that thing cost enough to buy many a farkle for the DR and I appreciate you getting it so I wouldn't die and ruin the trip .
If you have to leave your bike at home Nuts will double you since he still has the gay little buddy pegs on his steed.

I spent the evning writing a list of stuff I need to bring and it is a LONG one. I pulled the tent and related items out of the closet and have them packed up and ready to go. Gonna throw the tv in with the stuff tomorrow to make sure it doesn't get left behind.
I'll let you watch Leno but after that you gotta hit your own tent. I gotta have my space so I can fart and pick my nose in privacy whilst scratching my sack

You might be disappointed with the small lot of farkles you get in trade for the beast. $199 at Home Depot.

I went down there for the $149 model, but this one has a beverage holder, and it's all shiny-n-stuff.

Charlie, Seth has one sitting over at RVHD&B for me. After riding 12 O'clock knob from Salem last week with Jackie, I really had a smile. Running the XR in the tight stuff is extremely enjoyable, more so than the BRP at 60mph. little motors just make me happy. NUTS

Charlie,
I learned my lesson after being forced into hard manual labor to pay for damages .

Guys, I think I see something orange in Nuts' future. He has become target fixated. You know its bad when dude is already surfing the net for farkles .
I'm half expecting a call any minute from the ole' Nutster asking if he can keep it at my house for a month or so in an effort to hide his shame from his better half.
Dude is a habitual schemer and always has something up his sleeve even when wearing a short sleeve shirt !

Tank,
Gots to have that beverage holder man. That makes or breaks the package .

Nice looking bike, Id probably need Tanks portable rope ladder to get on it.I'm sure the Nuts could just step over without a care.Mighty weak looking kick stand though. Wouldn't take much to over center it.
Well Guys, the big race Sat. nite was one cold cluster f**k on our part.We got to the track around 3pm. The wind was blowing about 25 mph.55deg.F,unloaded the truck, started the bikes to make sure the would and warmed up the transmissions.
My latest creation, the 490 Yamaha had so much compression, had to take it on the black top to start(push start) it did. Then we waited till 7pm. for practice to start. Now it's 39 deg. and guess what won't hit a lick,490 Yamaha. It was sliding the rear wheel on the black top with me on it.Two strokes hate cold weather, me too.
Wound up running the 360 Yamaha(with much less compression) in both classes. Got two seconds, which wasn't too shabby. But my big secret weapon never got on the track. It will be warmer at the next race...I hope.

Charlie,
That surely ain't a bad start to the season. First is nice but second still means you guys rode the b@lls off of everybody else!
If you are experiencing age related spreading (turning into a lard bucket) like myself then maybe you need to get you a stronger fellow to give you a push down the track .
I know I've put on so much weight (a fact Nuts won't let me forget) that if my battery dies I hope it is on a 70 degree incline. I figure if I drop it into 4th while careening down the hill at 50mph I should be able to get it started with my fat butt sitting atop it.

Tank,
I didn't tell anybody else that a grill will be present. I figured they could cook over a little Coleman stove whilst you, me and Nuts eat gourmet style .
Me and Jason are going next Tuesday to run one or two of our planned loops to make sure everyone will be able to complete them. We are gonna start at the campground and head up the Jeep trail first to see how bad it was tore up over the Winter, followed by running some new roads to ensure they connect like the maps show.
If all goes well we should have several loops close to the campground without having to travel too much pavement.

Nice job Charlie! Too bad the beast didn't want to play.

Jackie,
The way I figure it, after I get the bike out, I could turn the trailer into a "roach coach" and maybe make a few bucks.(you do know what a roach coach is, right?)

I only know of two kinds of roaches. The nasty bug type and the kind I loved so much when I was a younger lad . Good times but I'm glad they are behind me now.
You gonna sell some food outta that wagon? If so I could take orders while you cook. I figure a 60/40 split is fair. 60 for me and 40 for you

Thanks for the kind words fellas. The finish was good for the years point system, but I was hoping to leave the competition scratching their heads.(instead of me)
Jackie,
You and the Nutster will be glad to know that in the Pro Race, KTM finished 1st and 3rd and Team Suzuki finished 2nd.(450cc bikes)
I've never seen so many RV's and diesel Hauler's short of a National Event. They rotated two ambulances all night long.None life threatning, but a few protruding bones.

The KTM is a no-go. I got a headache from the vibration through the footpegs, the forks were tweaked, the clutch needed work and I couldn't find neutral at all. It does look SEXY, sounds awesome and is a hoot. But you have to wail on it to get any thrill. Low speed the vibes are so bad you can't focus on anything. Between 45-60 MPH it is smooth enough, below that and get yer dentist on speed dial. I still offered 'em $3500 and they thankfully passed. It takes a commitment to ride a bike like that, one I am unwilling to make at this point. NUTS

From time to time I receive these calls regarding bikes for sale locally that might just pique my interest. I received a call Friday afternoon regarding a 2006 KTM 625 SMC Supermoto. So I suffered through Sat and Sun while at work conducting my research. It had the "good, lower tech" motor and all the other bits I find attractive. This morning I organized my finances to allow a $5k purchase and headed for a test ride.

The bike is stunning in much the same way a wet T-shirt contest is: it's gonna be good, no matter what. To my relief the bike was NOT pristine, as I encountered each new fault I mentally pulled another $100 from my offer. There was no obvious rash per-se, but the bike has been ridden the way it was intended, possibly track day-ed, definitely been over. No problem with any of that, I intended to use it like that too.

We aired the tires and got it warmed up while I donned the keep out of ER gear. Mounting the bike I knew the seat was gonna be crap but that can be dealt with, the vibes however... I have owned two Buell's and two thumpers so I speak from some place of relevance. That thing vibrates like nobody's business, I mean like helicopter missing a rotor blade bad. The vibes run through the footpegs and up to the seat until you become numb; forty seven seconds in. I rode the bike to Hanging Rock and up to Bradshaw road where I veered onto Old Catawba Road. The road is exactly where one wants to ride a real Supermoto; rough pavement tight, uphill switchbacks and lots of opportunity to play with either wheel off the ground. At speed, in 2-5 gear the vibes are bearable. Anywhere else, you'd better have a mouthpiece in. I actually got a headache from it .

When you ride the bike they way it was intended it is very rewarding, exceptionally so, but... on the street with moving obstacles? Trackday, supermoto school, closed course anything; sign me up. I had a real ball when I was riding at my limit but there is the inevitable possibility of serious consequences when I do that. Not for me, not now; I have too much riding yet to do.

This particular bike has 1900 miles and I noticed a few possible faults beyond the cosmetic. Pulling the clutch in while in first at a stoplight resulted in the bike "walking" forward. Does the clutch need adjustment? The forks seemed to be tweaked in the triple clamps. I had an absolutely dreadful time finding neutral. A worse gearbox I have never tried.

I made a lowball offer of $3500. It was gratefully declined, but they have my number should they re-consider. I also saw a very nice BMW K1200s that I believe could be had for just under $9k if it was negotiated correctly. That too, is waaaaaay too much bike for me. Jason

Excuses, excuses! It walked forward because it idled too fast or needed bleeding. Forks tweaked. whoopty doo. Loosen the triple clamps and straighten em' up.
I say the misses has you on a very short leash these days.

O.K. fellas' the bait is out. Lets see if Nuts takes a bite so I can reel him in .

OK, I thought I done been heard just about everything...

There was just an ad on the radio for a "running store"; a place to go get all of your "running gear", and supplies.

I must be getting old. I thought all you needed was some Nike's and(mostly) motivation????

WTF?

Tank,
Can you give em' a call and see if they got a cheap set of lungs laying around? Perhaps a lower back set as well.
Last time I tried to run the thoughts running through my head were "what is worse not being able to breathe or being paralyzed".
My current exercise routine involves lots of silverware lifting, chewing and swallowing. Afterwards I am utterly exhausted and forced to take a nap. Its hard but my health is worth it

Jackie,
I thought Nuts' excuses were kind of lame also. It needed a clutch adjustment and the tubes lined up.No cost and 30 minutes of work. I think the thing scared him and if so,was probably wise to pass.
My 600 Rotax vibrated like that.Your gonads would be stone dead in 5 minutes.Your hands and forearms would sting. But it would make you grin and put the fear in you all at the same time, it was wicked fast. Stick with Scarlet and enjoy living,it's cold and damp buried in the ground.

Oh, I agree Charlie. Too much bike for his skill level. He was just looking for any way out and found his excuse over minor little things. I've twisted my forks many a time when riding in the dirt and its a simple fix. Just whack the front wheel against a tree and you are good to go.
Lame I tell you, lame. Never thought he would be scared of a motorbike but I guess I was wrong.

Instead of a single line I think we have laid out a trotline for Ole' Nuts. We'll either come back in the morning and have him hooked or find he has nibbled the bait, found he didn't like it and swim for deeper water .

Tank,
I forgot you were a smoker. If they only have one set left you go ahead and snag them. I should make it until they get more in stock.
So are you gonna join us in pokin' fun at Jason or what?

Just got back from a quick ride with a co-worker.

He has a KTM 625 somethingorother.

THAT thing is SWEET! Nothong but the best stuff everywhere I looked. Factory WP suspension, too.

Nuts is missing out, even if his Nuts do go numb after 5min.
