p.s. I found a little baggie(no, it wasn't a stash that I lost)

It had a very stock looking needle and some main jets in there....for the 250. Dude told me it was stock. I don't think so. I'll be tearing that apart too.

Tank,
Good idea about the plugs in the airbox provided they don't allow water in when we are crossing creeks.
Now granted I've never ridden at your sea level but Nuts an I routinely change altitude by as much as 2000ft without any problems. If you run just a little lean or spot on instead of rich you should have little problem.

Don't worry about providing food or beverage for any of the others. They were told to bring their own provisions if they decide to come.

So you found your baggie with your needle in it now all you gotta do is find the one that DOES have your stash .

Nuts,
I think you better check these out. Remember I told you I heard the Potts Mt. Jeep trail was highly technical and your buddy said they smoothed it out? I hope he was right. You and I might be living our own version of Brokeback Mountain if its still like this. Not the gay kind mind you but more like hobbling around, hunched over like two broken down old men.

My Versys got 120 miles of use yesterday.
Charlie, I got to ride with Todd G yesterday. Had him on my "6" mounted on his new 08 KLR. He is a good dude; stayed behind me through the 5 miles of DEEP gravel. A 17" front sport tire is extremely nerve wracking in those conditions. At a stop Todd rode up and said "It's all in your head". True enough words were never spoken.

I'll be out again today on the motorsicles. NUTS

O.K. don't look at the links I posted to try and preserve our well being you butthole .

I came home after our enjoyable ride last night and hit the couch until about 9pm. Went to bed and beat the alarm by 2 minutes at 6:58. Went off to physical therapy arriving back home around 10:30 and just felt drained. Lounged around the house catnapping until 1:30 when I had a bit of caffeine and loaded the Versys up for a ride. I planned on putting about 100 miles on but it wasn't to be. Feeling drained and battling the wind had me home inside of 45 miles. Somethings wrong here; tomorrow'll be better. Whew, I'm starting to get like the Turtlehugger! Only I still don't bail.NUTS

Mike is closed for Speedweek so no new tires until middle of next week .

I got the Clarke tank on last night and it is a big un'. If I run outta gas with this thing I deserve to have to push it back to the trailer by myself .

Nuts,
Watch some hunting shows man. They'll drive you even closer to insanity since we are 2 seasons away from being able to hunt furry critters ourselves.

Well Guys, wish me luck on Sat.nite.Our first race for the season and it's a big one.Catching all the pro riders leaving Daytona heading home.
Got the new bike(490 Yamaha) running a couple of days ago, sounds nasty.Only run it down the street and back.Couldn't tell much about it.Dog walkers every where and dogs going nuts. Will have limited time to jet it and get the right gearing because practice will be minimal.
Nuts, are you going to Suches? They have several going from this area this year, maybe one day I'll get there.

Charlie, No Suches for NUTS this year. I have traded away that weekend for the dualsport ride the following weekend. Good luck with the Yami and dustin those Pro's.

Collected my very first speeding ticket today. I swear I never saw the School Zone sign. The Bedford County representative saw me though, he lowered my speed from 46 to 40 in a 25 to avoid the "reckless driving" charge. Could've been big $$; now I'll have to sacrifice 136 .99c big gulps. Bound to happen sooner or later. This just in...NUTS is reckless!

Charlie,
Make us proud! Be sure you share the results with us when you get a chance. Course' if you show poorly then you might not hear the end of it after giving Nuts a hard time for his kickstand misadventures .

Nuts,
What a waste man. If you had money to burn why didn't you just buy me some Unabiker radiator guards? What kinda friend are you man .

Tank,
Did you watch the video I posted the link to? You wanted challenges and it looks like your gonna get em'. We got a lead on another route that is nothing more than an old wagon trail. From what I heard it involves log hops, rut riding and other nasties. I'm wondering if perhaps we ought to leave that one alone our first time out.
What say you? How tough do you want it to be?

Nuts, sorry to hear about your ticket, becareful, that kind of bad luck runs in three's. The $136.00 is just the start, wait till the insurance co.gets wind of it.
Jackie,
I saw your video, that was wild.A fellow could spend a lot of money climbing on those rocks.
Tank,
You keep an eye on these guys, their not above having a little fun when your in a compromised position.
Thanks for the vote of confidence fellows, most of these guys already have three or four races since Feb. and we haven't even had a practice session. So I'm not setting my sights too high for the first race. We won't embarrass ourselves though.

Why yes Jackie, I did enjoy the video!

While a Cherokee with large tires is tough to beat, that stuff looked a bit daunting. But a properly equipped, well maintained motorcycle should have very little trouble with 90% of that stuff, even with a cocky munchkin like me perched loosely atop.

I will say this...If I don't like the way it looks, I aint doing it.

Counter attack on the video thing...

Good one Tank! I don't believe our ride will be anywhere near that technical.
Man you better hope you don't bail it after talking that kinda smack . I'll be forced to make you relive each dismount on a daily basis along with photos which will be posted for all to see.
I on the other hand will be the first to admit I prefer easy laid back riding nowadays. I'm too old and frail to pay the price of trying to ride like a youngster. In fact some of the horrific dumps I had when I rode MX style probably contributed to the crappy joints and back I have today.

I'm slowly getting the break in miles on there in anticipation of the trip!
Me and Nuts took a leisurely little ride up to the country and did a TINY bit off off road riding just too see how the bike was going to do. Surprisingly it did pretty good even with those crappy tires so I should hopefully be satisfied once I get knobblies .

Random pic from todays' ride. Charlie, you ever been down to the end of the Explore Park Rd.? It runs right into the lake man! Lived here all mu life and didn't know that until a few days ago when my brother in law told me.

Your just mad cause you ain't got one of them fine Buell hats. By the way thanks for giving that hat to me !
You are right. The black and red bike is a looker. It lookers like a piece o' crap !

Forgot to mention that I adjusted the cmpression and dampening after the ride we had the other day. Rode like a champ even climbing the backside of Crowells Gap and up the 400 meter trail. I am well pleased with this particular vehicle. Might even keep it more than 6 months!

Does that Honda even have enough power to turn that hideous rear tire?? Is that really spray paint???

And the video was obviously not mine.

Those tires on Jackie's bike look 80% worse than the ones I'll be throwing away. They look like slicks! If you can ride those in the loose stuff(water on the street), you got my props!

On another note....
Got my new video camera today!
The old one took a dump on the display part, and it killed the whole camera. Good thing I only paid $45 for it.

I have hooked the mini-cam to the new one and it works real good. Just need to work out a mount for the bike(or bend the old one a bit). I wrapped a headphone "foamie" around the mic, and that seems to work well too(in the kitchen).

Tank,
You bringing that camera setup with you?
If so I imagine you will be asked to burn many copies of the resulting footage. Just remember I'm your pal so I get the first one!
This thing has really taken off. We have 8 riders who say they will be there and 5-6 more who might show for a day ride.
Don't fret though, I don't know any of them either. Nuts does know a few of them so he can ease the ackwardness.

Ain't no way I'm going to act as the "fluffer" for this shindig. I designate Tank the head of the nametag committee. We need names and known allergies on those tags. Jackie'll be wearing three then!

That Todd G fella' must be one handsome dude !

Nuts.
I didn't mention that we ride the trails. Figured it would just up the traffic and we can't have that. That's our own little private slice of heaven right there.
You can introduce us to Ted, Big T and Honcho. The other guys we will just ignore .
I figure since you have the maps and directions you can be official ride leader and I will sweep up the rear to watch over the KLR riders without knobbies. Just gotta make sure you wait on us at the big mudhole so I can video and photograph the carnage. You know some fool is gonna try to cut through the middle of that pond instead of riding the edges. Should be fun to watch.

Yea, Jackie, I'll bring the camera. Just have to figure out a mount. Most likely helmet mount, so I can keep the good stuff dry in a backpack, or jacket pocket.

Nuts,
Do it man, do it! You deserve three bikes in the garage.
Hows that for helping you be financially responsible?

Tank,
Since Nuts is the ride leader and I am the sweeper I guess you will have to be the nametag guy as Nuts suggested. Make sure you bring a waterproof marker since April is notoriously rainy here in the mountains . Since you claim to be the grillmeister we will also need you to stay in camp while we are out exploring. That way me and Nuts will have a hot meal waiting on us when we get back to camp. We will be the envy of everyone else with our own personal cook! I likes my steak well done and remember no spices on mine unless you actually want to kill me.
Shall I bring you one of those cool looking chef hats?
