Not trying to compete with the usual Sat ride - but if there are any Ulys that want to go on some gravel/dirt -I am meeting with a couple of other "beasts" to go over Nicoli Mtn from HW 30 to 26 Sat. We are meeting at 7:30 am at Starbucks in St Helens - should be back in Portland by 1-1:30.

Forester,
We tend to do sport rides on Saturday AM's, I don't think its competing to set up a dirt ride at the same time.

Course if you needed a place to meet at 7 AM...

Great ride today 56 miles of gravel and dirt in Tilamook State forest. The more I ride the more I am impressed with the Uly on gravel and dirt.

Rode out on DNR ground east of Vancouver today. Discovered/affirmed that Sync's do not like mud. Luckily no one was around to see me fall over. Great views from the ridge, grey but still good.

I signed up today - would be nice to get more than one Uly, Paul see if you can get the blue one with all the tourtech guards on it - it is too clean and shiny. , play on Dave's love Italian bikes.

Rode with the Ducati group today, those Hypermotard's are nimble as crap until they got on gravel. They would take off at 90+ on pavement then hit the gravel and do 25mph (they had 100% street tires). Only one Multistrada. One of the Ducati sales guys was amazed at how fast the Uly is on gravel. I was fading back so I could at least take it to 40+ for short bursts. Still a fun ride with decent people. 47 between Clatskanie and Mist is a lot cleaner now, only a couple of spots of gravel.

Uly riders, have you hears about the Rider Comfort KIt? Improves comfort by redirecting airflow to reduce the overall heat on the right side. Retail $ 119.95. We have a couple on order.

Might have to look into one of these. That is one of my biggest complaints about the XB12XT.

OK the date is Monday - only a two as of now, everyone is gone this weekend- nothing too crazy just gravel and some tame dirt between Hood River and the Dalles. I will post details late Sat. Any one is welcome.

Broke in the Uly - Literally

Over Lolo Pass - banging around Hood River ORV areas

Rode through a bunch of rocky, muddy off road areas -

ORV trail Hood River

Testing the Sync's

Then I bust a blinker and my clutch handle punches through the "handguard" not riding but the bike falling over while I was taking a leak

The results of the Dirt Nap

The clutch handle punched right through the "guard" - Dave the bark busters on the armored 08 at Latus look real good!

My brother and I bought 2 new XT's during the fire sale. Last month we installed the comfort kits. I had mine re flashed at Latus, it cost me $55. He just had his re flashed at Paradise HD and they did it free because it's under warranty. They even washed it at no charge!

Anyway, here's a picture of our bikes last week at Three corner rock near Stevenson WA.

Great Ron - I installed the comfort kit and decided based on the varied opinions on BadWeb to not do the reflash. Good to know that Paradise will do it for 0 if under warranty.

Great picture - if you and your brother want to do any dirty riding let me know. I wander a fair bit on gravel/dirt on the Uly. A friend of mine on the big V-strom and I are planning a three-four day run to the Steens this summer also.

We have also talked about doing PBR rides where a group of Ulys goes for some gravel/dirt and meets up with the clean bikes using a same destination different route tactic. As of now we do not seem to ever get enough Uly's that want to ride gravel roads.

Brings a tear to my eye thinking about what I could of saved if i bought mine last month instead of last year.

Rocky treats all us Buell guys great at Paradise.

And Greg I am still not taking my $15k bike through the woods. Call me a wimp.

Tom all you have to do is get that first scratch, hole (like my handguard)or ding and it is all easy from there . (actually I dread the day that I actually really damage something, not as cheap to repair as my buddy's V-strom) I will not call you a wimp - your bike looks great.

I don't know all the info about this, but if I installed parts on my bike and walked in and said to install a new download and paid for it is not to place blame on the service department. If my bike had an issue with heat and driveabilty then a service dept. can file for warranty and no charge to customer. So as NW said not all bikes need this.

Well said Dave - sometimes you just have to ask the correct question. So far my Uly does not need the reflash, will see when it gets hot.

Also keep in mind that the flash is free but the labor is not unless a warranty claim due to ride ability or something similar that warrants a new flash to resolve issues.

Paradise was more than fair to my brother so I'll try them next.

We are always up for a ride. Call me anytime. My brother and I are riding the Buells to the Charachoa mountains in Southern Arizona near Mexico in late May. I have a 1200GS also but the Buell is too much fun.
