Aron, have you tried going over Germantown yet. I went over it on Tuesday when an accident plugged 26 west bound, and it didn't seem to dirty but that is a cager's perspective. I know the mornings are probably close to freezing so why risk it but I thought maybe the evenings are decent between 5-7.

Philip, in the morning I do stick to the freeway. In the evenings I have started to take Cornell\Thompson\Skyline\Germantown\West Union\Jackson home. Much better then sitting on the freeway. All the roads seem pretty decent now on that side anyway.

On Tuesday/Thursday I commute to Vancouver so with weather getting better I'll actually have something twisty in between to make my day. So far I have only used my bike once to go to Vancouver, never fails rains on the days I commute the furthest.

Do you come down I5 or 205 from Vancouver? What time in the evenings?

Tuesdays 4:30-5 at border
Thursdays approx 9pm at border
Both I5.
I take off from a location where the on-ramps for I5 and 205 are about 100 yards from each other.

Hergy, I have only been able to ride my bike to Vancouver once so far, but it looks like tomorrow I'll be riding.

Aron, you know of a store or something where I can get something to drink and wait?

There is a gas station on the corner of N Lombard and N Interstate. Or if you want to do the full Skyline route to German town we could meet up at Jack in the Box across from Moto Corsa on the corner of NW23rd ave and NW Wilson ST. This is normally the route I take home.

Man today was nice day. Hopefully some of you got a chance to enjoy it. I took the family out to Browns camp. Still a bunch of snow and all the trails were snowed in.

3 Buells tonight at pcc, we out numbered other makes in the parking lot! Richard's Firebolt, my CityX, and a black tuber S1. We don't know who's tuber it was. I also saw my twin today, I was surprised to see myself (blue CityX) across the intersection so I gave a thumbs up to my twin and was rejected.

Aron, I'll go to Moto Corsa, never been there, and we can see what the weather is doing and figure out a route.

Sounds good. I should be there by 5:15 pm - 5:30 pm depending on I5 traffic. If I can get out a little sooner I may be there right at 5:00.

So, I've been feeling a little out of touch with everyone lately so I thought I would just throw out a quick update. I've been WAY busy between work and helping my wife with her new store and have also found out that I am going to have to start physical therapy on my arm at the end of Feb. due to an injury in Dec. Nothing major, but if I don't take care of it now, doctor says I could be looking at surgery and I can't have that cutting into my riding time. This is why I missed the last meeting and the last ride. Not sure if the arm will stop me from riding when time allows however.

Also, I'm liking the idea of these group ride/trips. I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea to plan something a little closer and shorter as a test run. maybe? Like a 101 to Newport overnighter, or maybe head up north somewhere on the peninsula in Wash. My mom lives in Port Townsend and I can say from driving experience, there's a lot of nice roads up that way. Haven't been able to ride up there yet though. Maybe someone else has. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. For me, anything longer than a weekend may not be possible, at least that's how it looks right now.

Jim,I am all for longer rides. I have already planned a weekend long trip with my wife to Hells Canyon (baker city)and will probably join Mark on his Northern California weekend trip.

A trip to Newport looks very good and is shorter as a test run as you put it. I think we can find some interesting roads like 180 out of Corvallis. Then head down to Waldport and take 34 back up to Corvallis.

Check 34 and 180 out on the map. They look real twisty. Maybe someone here has been on them and can pipe in about the condition of the roads. Then again 229 between Newport and Lincoln city looks nice too.

I would only be good for weekend outings as well.

Hey Jim,

Good to hear from you. I really like the idea of doing a overnight ride. I think it would be a blast and hopefully must of the club could make it.

Aron,

When are you going out to hells canyon? I grew up around there and my parents ride the area frequently if you want any road suggestions.

Brady, I am going June 13th - 16th. There is a huge motorcycle rally that weekend. There should be bikes from all over showing up. Sport and Cruiser. Open to all.

So so do we want to do a PIR day for Saturday?

Looks like Yellow tuber will be there. Mark has posted some links about it as well.

Maybe we can meet in the morning do a short ride that ends up at PIR. Any suggestions?

Hey Aron,

Last year I was in Baker City on the Sunday afternoon of the Hells Canyon Rally. It's huge and also safe to say that it's a predominantly HD cruiser event. Make sure you book a room now as the area motels fill up fast.

Nick, I will be riding my V-rod and my wife on her Sporty 883L so we should fit in OK.

I booked my room last year in anticipation of it being a large event so we are good.

Hey all,
I have another option for a single overnight trip.

I have a cabin on a small lake outside Spokane WA.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=N ewman+Lake+WA&ie=UTF8&ll=47.778155,-117.098894&spn =0.052026,0.1157&z=13

It's a family timeshare sort of thing, but I can run everyone off for a weekend. It's an 7-8 hour drive on the freeways. I'll bet we could make it a 12 to 14 hour trip on "More Funner" roads. With a couple strech breaks. We can relax in the lake at the end of the day. Don't cost nothing...
Grocery store is close, so we wouldn't need to pack a lot. Roads a fun around the lake itself, as long as they are not graveled this year...

If were interisted lets talk..

Not the news I wanted to hear, but its news I got. Hand is broken in two places, and if I want to wrench and ride again I will need a plate with screws to re align the whole program so that it heals correctly.

That means surgery next week, and a min of 2-3 months on the sidelines. A little depressed, but I should have used better judgement. Another of life's lessons learned the hard way!

Kenny, that really suks. I am sorry to hear that you are having to go through all of that. I can imagine how difficult it would be to be out of commission for that long.

Hi I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Shannon and am pretty new to riding. I have a 2006 Blast which is my first bike and I LOVE it! Last summer was when I really started riding, though I took the class the November before that. In fact I was so nervous about getting on the bike and riding on real roads it took me until more than halfway through summer to get out there. Man do I regret wasting all that gorgeous sunny time I could have been riding!

Anyway, I'm riding now and am looking forward to some nice weather because I like using my bike as my main transportation when I can, especially with gas at over $3 a gallon!

I'd love to join one of your Saturday rides sometime and learn a thing or two from more experienced riders. A couple questions though, does anyone else who comes for the rides ride a Blast? And are there any other beginners like me who show up?

Thanks!
Shannon

Welcome Shannon. Can't say for sure if we have any regular Blast members, but I know a couple of the regular members started on a Blast. Shouldn't let that hold you back. This is a pretty diverse group of riders. Some will almost drag knees on the streets and some are comfortable hanging back and enjoying the view. Either way, nobody gets left behind. I would encourage just coming on one of the rides and seeing what you think.
