Here is where we have been talking about the wheel bearing issue: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/327125.html?1199421635

One individual mentioned using Loctite green.

This not riding has been killing me! I need to have more than one bike running at a time again.

I'll check w/ the dealer, Lancaster Buell, if they will help me out on this issue. After looking at the bearing it seems to have failed, letting the grease out of it.

ANYone have a rim to spare??? For sale?

Hey Erik (Marlinrider),
Thanks for the test ride last Friday on the new Buell 1125R. We went out on some roads around the dealership (The HD/Buell store of Baltimore) and the test ride was pretty "spirited" when traffic allowed!

My new problem is now how am I going to buy one? I knew that if I rode the 1125R, I would have to have one! What to do with my current ride, the Firebolt 12R? I like the Firebolt a lot, but the speed of the 1125R is addictive. Oh well, I'll figure something out.

Thanks again to you and the dealership for providing a bike for anybody to demo ride.
Brian

Has anyone in the area changed their fork oil before? if so, is it very difficult? I have the 10k mile service coming up and I am deciding what things I should do myself and what things I should have the dealership do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have the tools it's not so bad.

If you do it without the tools it can be very dangerous (the fork spring/cap will shoot like a rocket if you don't have it under control with the proper clamp)

Speaking of Suspension, MRP Motorsports (http://www.mrpmotorsports.com/)in Glenn Burnie, MD apparently can rebuild the stock showa shocks on the old tuber bikes.

I sent them one of my old shocks this week

I'll keep bouncing around on my fluid less S3 and update everyone on how it worked out when I get the rebuilt shock.

Very interesting Jose, I'm gonna be heading up to see them about the forks on my X1 to have new springs and valves installed . Let me know as I have been going back and forth with the Penske.

Hey 2kx1.. If your thinking of going to a Penske, check out Elka. Like Penske, they will custom build your shock for you (just not sure if they have a design for X1), I have one on my XB9R and really like it.

They're out of Canada and are really high quality and a little cheaper then a Penske for the same type of shock. They are breaking into the US market and that leads to some good deals. I think in Canada they are a premium so no price breaks for their local customers. I'm not sure who carries them locally as I got mine through DefanZ tuning in PA. If you want, I'll give you some contact info, I'm sure he'll cut you a pretty good deal on a custom built shock from them.

Paul,

This is what I went in search of after the meeting. Heard about it on WAMU's Metro Connection some weeks back. You can hear the segment here if interested in a bit of history. I need to checkout this "Mondo DC - An Insider's Guide to Washington DC's Most Unusual Tourist Attractions".

Ok, for DafanZ Tuning, you can go to DafanZtuning.com of course..

I just took a look and he's got triple adjust Elkas on sale ... I'm sure it's limited to what he has in stock, but you never know.

As far as having him contact you directly, I suppose you should drop him a note and let him know exactly what you are looking for.

Peter, I've been riding almost every weekend! I met Smiley1eye up at the HD store I was picking up the Uly from the 1,000 mile service and he was dropping his City X off for the same. Looks like I'll go north for inside pass this year to the New Jersey Motorsports park thanks to Jose' posting all of the race dates! I won't make VIR this year I'll be coming back from Memphis. Counting the weeks for warmer weather! K

Jo.. Checked PM.. and replied..

Kathy, Coolness.. I got a bunch of miles on over the last couple of weekends and am now almost at the end of break in. If it gets warm again sometime soon, I'll get those last miles on and have them do the initial service thing.. and life will be good..

For those of you that have had the 10k mile maintenance done by the dealer, where did you go and about how much did you pay? I am looking to get this done here soon on my 2005 XB9SX. I have the service manual, but I am new to motorcycles and therefore I am not too confident in my abilities. If anyone knows of a great place to take it please let me know. Or if anyone is willing to lend a hand, I do not mind paying for your services. I would also like to install new front pads as well as replace all the brake fluid.

Thanks,
Brian

Coops.. As far as I know, Frederick has a bunch of them, Whitts has a sign in the window saying they are participating. Not sure about the other dealers since I haven't been to any others lately.

Brian, the guys at Frederick are pretty stand up and you can work with 'em. With Joe lookin' over their shoulders, you can trust they'll get it done right, or Joe will give 'em a ration before you get there!.. (it's good to have friends in low places )
