Oh it's worst that I thought. I just picked up the 11 at the dealer (new mirrors, ignition switch, and ECM FLash) and I only have 3200 miles on that tire that had the steel showing.
I wonder if I run a few more pounds in it to keep it cooler will I be able to qualify for the 75% rule at the track. I guess I have to order two more tires to put on 5 weeks from now anyway.

Blueblak; That's sounds like a great Idea, really, but I might ride up and send some cloths and a riding suite up there by mail. I guess I'll just chance passing inspection. Mathematically, I'll be right at the limit.

Smiley1eye; what's her name, err, where will you be sleeping. I'll be at the Courtyard right around the block.

Bearly,
Dunno where I'll be sleeping, but I'm sure I'll find someplace. Why I never thought of that though is beyond me. How great would it be to hook up with a little hottie up there? Sometimes I'm dumb. (And by 'sometimes' I mean ALL the time)

Smiley,
I am riding out as well. I'll be taking a few days to get there, as I will probably leave June 28 after work or early June 29. My plan (subject to change as most are) is to go to Buffalo for a day or two, then Chicagoland area for a dinner with friends, then on to Wisconson. You are more than welcome to ride along. Do you want to go halves on a room at the host or nearby?

Marlin,

Halves on a hotel sounds great, riding up on the 28th won't work for me though. I wasn't planning on leaving until the 29th, but I'm heading out at first light.

But depending on how long you want to stay in Buffalo, I might be able to catch up with you there and ride the rest of the way together.

My plan (and I use that word loosely) was to head North until I hit Canada, then turn left. Go until I hit water, find a boat, and arrive in the land of Buells & Cheese.

I also haven't decided when I'm coming back either. I'm such a tool when it comes to making a real schedule that I usually don't.

Maybe coming back to MD around the 8th. Was thinking about running down to Missouri after the festivities in WI. Stop by the family farm and see my kids. And there's this road back home that I've been wanting to tame...

I'm going, the plan is to ride up. Take 2 days, leave on July 1st. Start coming back on the 6th or 7th, haven't decided yet. I got my ticket for the festivities.
I do have a room at the host hotel, if someone would like to share it's a double non-smoking room. Oh,I've been told I snore.
Any plans on a group riding up together?

Pellis I may be riding up from Columbia Maryland. I've been keeping a list of locals that are making the trip from the area and so far the only ones that may fit my route plans and travel days are Spops, Bearly and Bluxb9sx (although he may be on a Triumph Triple).

I may end up trailering it if I can purchase a trailer in time. But with less than four weeks to go it's looking like I'll be Iron-Butt'n it.

So you're thinking two 400 mile days ? If I don't trailer it, I was thinking 3 days.

Spops, Bearly, what were you guys thinking for travel days and route ?

I have a room reserved at the host hotel too. I'd share a room but I'm a pretty light sleeper.... may have to pass.

So you're thinking two 400 mile days ?
400-500 miles the first day, get close enough to Chicago to avoid it at rush hour.
Plan to get to the host hotel before Wednesday's registration closes. Rooms are not available until 3pm. I've been playing with the HD ride planner to see what i can come with.

I'll be leaving from Port Deposit, Md on July 1 or 2 and then return 6 or 7.

Last year I took the XB12R up in the back of the truck but if I can get the S3T together in time I'll try riding that up with a pass. on board.

I've got a Harbor Freight trailer but the tolls will eat a person alive doing it that way.

T9r, do the turnpikes charge extra for towing a small trailer ? I guess that charge by the axle. That sucks! What's the additional cost ?

I'll be traveling on the same days, so I may join you if that's OK.

So, Thad, you decided to go. You're a real trooper two-wheeling it up. It's all I can do to drive it by car.

Every state but Maryland had tolls. I used my EZPass last year so I never paid attention to the tolls. I can't recall which state it was but one of them didn't take EZPass.

So this afternoon I dropped my new front tire for my XB9S and I strolled into the Old Glory showroom... and Voila!

There she was, my XB12XT in Black (pause for effect...)

Yes folks, I'll be riding (I hope) to the 25th Anniv in my brand spankin' new XB12XT! woohoo! =)

For those of you who know my current ride, I call it the XB9S(T) I've done pretty much everything I can to make it into a tourer.. Sadly, it's not a real two-up bike. Hence the "need" to leap into an 12XT...

Now I need to figure out how to re-install my moto-lights and all of the other goodies I bolted on the XB9S...

Happy Father's Day! he he

I spoke with Tony (Thunderstruck) about riding up together. Anybody else want to ride up as a group. Using Mapquest, most of the tolls can be avoided by adding about 70 miles to the trip, thats from leaving my place in Upper Marlboro to the host hotel. Your mileage may vary. A gathering place could be picked for everyone to meet up at and then leave as a group. Time is getting short to plan, so lets start talking.

Spops, I was at Old Glory the day you stopped in and spotted the XB12XT. I saw it too! Well I was at Old Glory again today and noticed the empty space where it once stood. I guess I know what you'll be riding up on. Congrats!

I'm in the process of touring-out my XB12S... what a bitch. It's not easy making saddle bags work when you have a fender eliminator

Thunder.. I have a set of Joe Rocket Saddle Bags that worked for me on my XB9S(T).

The front strap goes under the seat (to avoid rubbing against your butt) and the back strap goes over your pillion. Your heel might be a little tight, but they work like a charm! They expand out to about 8/9" wide.

If Paul doesn't need them, you're welcome to use them...

Sebastian, thanks for the offer on the bags. I bought a set of the larger Cortech bags and they're nice, roomy and well made. The issue is that the only structure on the bike that keeps them out of the rear wheel is the passenger foot peg mounts. The front of the bags can strap to the foot peg mount, but the rear straps have nothing to attach to. And the weight of the bag rests on the blinkers, which also blocks their visibility. I bought auxiliary blinkers to mount to the bags though.

They're secure enough, but I like that extra sense of security. I'll figure something out.

OK boys and girls.
It's 2 weeks to go before we start heading to Homecoming. What's everyone doing?
I spoken to Spops and Thunderstruck about a 3 day ride to Milwaukee that I found on the HD Ride Planner.

The parts for my bike are in and it should be ready to ride by Tuesday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
