Jackie,
I thought the whole idea was to get something to ride in the woods that you wouldn't spend all your time polishing.................like that's ever going to happen.

Come on fellas', I did pretty good getting the Honda XR dirty and didn't fret none about it.
I jut feel more comfortable buying a clean one so I can have some piece of mind that it hasn't been dogged out. That way I will know why each scratch is on it instead of wondering how much of a beating it has taken from the previous owner .
Nuts,
Where does dude live so we can ride over and have a look (like right NOW) to see what kind of shape it is in?

O.K. Guys,
Here it is! Should be picking it up this weekend or next week at the latest.
06' DRZ400s with less than 700 miles on it. No worrying about the problems with the older models (cam chain tensioner, water pump, primary nut) which is a big relief. No worrying about who has been inside it.
Now before ya'll start gabbing, I WILL GET IT DIRTY but at least it will be my dirt and scratches.
And now the moment you have all been waiting for.

Charlie, Mr. Turtlehugger had an opportunity to buy a DRZ fully farkled from Todd G. A lot less money and right around the corner. But he goes and ropes me into driving to East BFE to get this showroom quality piece. This guy changes bikes like nobody's business. Just who does he think he is? NUTS

Did I neglect to mention Todd's DRZ was set-up for a 230 lb rider? Coincidence? I think not!

Nuts,
I guess that's why Todd is selling it...........He can't make it back to 230 lbs. When you said Todd and Amzoil I was pretty sure who you were talking about. He always takes real good care of his stuff. No Sherman Williams tune-ups.
That show pony in the pictures is going to stay just like that with Jackie in charge. If he gets that new one you need to tape the throttle open, point it towards a Brier patch and cram it in gear. Then maybe he will get some use out of it.

Mr. Jaxson assured me it WILL be used. I was extremely proud of the way he used the XR and I can only hope he treats this one the same. Although our ride schedule will be delayed while he gets some proper protection for that thing.

I would have no reservations buying a bike from Todd. I thoroughly thought about buying it last night, until I remembered how much I enjoy Scarlett. If I were to replace her it would be for some lunatic fast, lightweight dirtbike with lights. Ain't gonna happen anytime soon. I'd rather ride slow and pick Scarlett up less. NUTS

And Q-tips and toothbrushes can be had just about anywhere.

Nice garage kept find, though. Doesn't look like it's ever seen mud.

WHOOWEE! You guys are hardcore.
I got Nuts calling me a fata$$ and Charlie and Tank saying I'm insane.
Now I'm depressed so I think I'll go sit in the shed and look at my ATV. That should cheer me up !
On a brighter note I just made payment number two on the ATV so only 48 more to go and that puppy is all mine!
Tank,
Can you get your minibike running again so we can finish our ride .
Still mulling over the Hatfield McCoy idea this coming Spring. If it is dry maybe I can take both toys and ride the bike one day and the ATV the next. I would let ya'll try it out but it needs to be broke in properly. You know, 15mph or less for 20 hours whilst constantly changing RPM's yet never exceeding 3000.

Can you get your minibike running ...

hehe...Yep, should not be a problem. Just ordered some new shoes a few minutes ago. Bridgestone TW301/302.

But you never know, since I'm very much like you guys. I might just have a new TW200 by then???

Let ol Nuts ride that pig. Hell have her "broke"-in real good.

Tank,
You ain't lying. I'm sure he would have it broke in no time.
Course' we wouldn't have to worry about it falling off the kickstand (a special thanks to Charlie for giving me the inspiration for that low blow) .

You need to buy the new bike man! If I ain't mistaken the Lightning is officially yours so no excuses. I bet the shop would give you a fair trade in on your current moped. The new models are landing and they are itching to offload the 07 models (except in Roanoke where you pay the same price for last years model).
I still have hemmorhoids from where they broke it off in me on the ATV purchase. Anybody have any Preparation H laying around I can borrow ?

I probably have an old tube lying around, but you might as well get a case.(I heard it was a great scratch remover)
If you don't get a "RAT RIDE", were going to hound you to death.

Interested to see why Luvthemtorts and I will be butchering our own game this deer season?.....

That was two bags of the first deer I killed. Mind you that was a yearling; 60 pounds of the tenderest meat known to carnivorium. I basically have one bag of meat and one bag of junk. I'll post pics of the deer I self-butcherized, and you'll see what it should look like!NUTS

Nuts,
Shame on you for throwing that out! You should boil it down with some homemade ash lye and make some soap.
What a wasteful game hog you have become .
Its confirmed. Me and Nuts are road tripping on Saturday to pick up the new ride. I will need a skid plate, case guards, knobbies and radiator guards before it hits the woods. Fortunately my birthday is just around the corner so I should be up and running in no time.
Please PM me for my address so you will know where to send my presents.
Be sure ya'll get with each other to make sure nobody sends me a duplicate gift

Nuts,
Its a no go. Since the wife let me buy the new bike yesterday I was informed that I will be taking her to an early dinner and then Bingo.
If I'm lucky we will hit the jackpot and I'll be able to buy the necessary farkles to get on the road befor March. Looks like I'll need it too since Charlie and Tank never PM'd for my address. I can only assume that I will not be receiving expensive gifts from them for my birthday.
You on the other hand should feel quite obligated to buy me at least a skid plate or tires .

Fella's, Turtlehugger has now TWO brand new motors to be broken in. He should have it completed by Christmas. And I was already to head out and buy me a .223 today.

The XR is partially torn down awaiting parts delivery. New footpegs, smaller countersprocket, new handguards and taller risers will be installed upon arrival. The chain and rear sprocket will get a good scrubbing today with kerosene, and I lubricated the clutch cable yesterday. I do love that foolishly dirty temptress.

Shebam! Here she is looking all purty.
Took the seat strap off, peeled the safety stickers, removed the rear bag and filed down/rounded the backside of the gear shift lever.
Now I just gotta start buying some farkles. Case guards, skid plate, frame savers, radiator guards, high bend Renthals, rear fender eliminator, 14/47 sprocket combo, handguards and knobbies.
Let the fun begin !

When did we go "Back to the future"? That's really a photo from December 2008. But because of the Flux Capacitor we're seeing it now.

I nominate this for the cleanest dualsport of 2008.

I'm with Nuts on the "cleanest DS" thing. There aint even lube on the sprocket. A bike shouldn't be that clean.

Call me at 12:00 to wake me up. Now mom will say "he is asleep" but tell her I said to wake me so we can go hunting.
She is aware we are going but she fell asleep before I could tell her what time to give me my wake up call.
See you later this afternoon for our final squirrel massacre of the year.

We went out with a whimper instead of a bang. Three shots each and three misses each. WE SUCK!
I'm laying here listening to the rain and praying it rains hard enough and long enough to clean the salt off the roads. I wanna start the break in procedure so me and Nuts can rip it up on our maiden voyage.
Charlie,
I can't get my sag set correctly for a fat a$$ like myself. Got the spring compressed to 9.74in which is the shortest recommended length without worrying about spring coil over. Racing sag is fine but static sag is off. Should I set the fast and slow dampening to a hard setting as well as the compression setting to help compensate and keep the rear wheel from dancing?
These bikes must come with a crazy light spring because when I measured the racing sag with my daughter sitting on it there was only 1 1/2in difference between her and me despite me weighing 100 pounds more than her. Distance between the top of the tire and highest portion under the fender is only 8 1/4in with me and 9 1/2 with her. Not enough to safely land even a 5 footer.
Nuts,
Feel free to chime in right about now on how your buddies bike was sprung for a double Whopper combo eating person like myself. Guess I need to lay off the chocolate malteds and puff'n corn huh .

Jackie,
The price of springs are relatively cheap, no more than a farkle or two.Or you could wedge a couple of empty "Turtle wax " bottles between the coils. That will get you over the first jump.
Get Nuts to call Todd and see where he got his fat boy shock from. Another solution would be a custom made polished billet strut.

You are right the spring is cheap. Course' the revalving and assembly/dissasembly will run me as much as every farkle I want . This thing reminds me of a Buell. You gotta take the whole thing apart to get to the shock. Maybe while I have it apart I can go ahead and do the bubble wrap mod in the hard to reach areas

Jackie,
The re-valving would be nice, but not sure it's necessary.Unless your planning some kind of campaign we don't know about.
If you get enough bubble wrap up around the shock, you won't need a new spring.
